My husband and I went to this property with high expectations, and we were not disappointed.

Rooms...We were there for a meeting, so I got to see a lot of our friends' rooms. All rooms are not created equal! The better rooms are called superior, not deluxe. Different from most hotels.

Our room was lovely. although alittle dark. And of course the bathrooms are incredible. Our tub was filled with water from a faucet in the ceiling. Amazing. However, not so great if you want to keep your hair from getting wet. Shower must have had 8 heads.

Golf...Both Whistling Straights and Black Wolf Run were fabulous, but very pricey. My husband said Whistling Straights is now his all time favorite golf course.

Food..Mixed. Very heavy in Wisconsin, bith in and out of the hotel. And it showed on the people there. Lots of obese folks.

Shopping..really good. Lots of eye candy in nearby shopping center.

Kohler is definitely a company town. Everyone works for Herb Kohler and they seem very happy with him. Everyone from the shuttle bus driver to the waitresses talk about him and his famly. Sort of like royalty.

I would highly recommend The American Club, especially for golfers.

This was my second visit to the American Club and it will not be my last. This is a special place with old world charm, modern amenities, 1st class service and the most unbelievable golf experience you can imagine. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The bathrooms are the most up to date collection of Kohler fixtures available. Have you ever been in a marble shower with 10 - 12 shower heads? Its like having a spa in your room! You must go and treat yourself at least once.

The staff-uber friendly. The service - outstanding. Hot cider or champagne upon arrival/check-in. Turn down service - every night delicious and different cookies. Housekeeping - unparalleled. Hotel rooms are beautiful. Love the old school decor, and the attention to detail. Every room is themed after a person of historical significance - amazing. The Greenhouse - just delightful throwback to an old time coffee shop/ice cream store. Gardens are beautiful. Hotel shuttle can take you to all the other Kohler owned properties/restaurants. I rarely want to visit the same place twice, but I will definitely be back.

We are from the area and wanted a quick get away. My husband is a huge golfer but had a hurt shoulder so he did not golf and therefore I did not spa to keep him company! Plus once we got up there, it was very cold and rainy.

We had a great time but there is not much else to do but golf and spa! The service is great and surroundings very nice. We drove to each course and the Kohler staff were very nice to my husband who wanted to talk about golf even if he could not actually golf.

We had a Governor's Suite and felt very cocooned. One odd thing, the bathroom did not have a door but a tiny thing compared to everything. We ate at Blackwolf Run for dinner and had a very nice dinner.

We stayed at the American Club earlier this month (Oct. 2012). The staff is wonderful and very helpful. If you golf, the bellman will arrange for your clubs to be waiting at the course when you get there, and there are frequent shuttles to both Whistling Straights and Blackwolf Run. We had the standard king, and while the room was very nice, we were on the first floor, overlooking a courtyard, and our room felt like a cave. There was never enough light in the room due to heavy curtains, as well as shutters. If you stay, I'd suggest asking for a room on a higher floor where there may be more light. Our bathroom had a great shower, but the bathroom itself was very small, with only one sink, so we had to take turns getting ready. The food at the Immigrant Restaurant was very good, and the service was exemplary, but don't go there if you're really hungry, because the portions are small, and the whole meal is very expensive. If you're a foodie, it is worth it, but not if you don't really care what you're eating. We will go back, because my husband wanted to play Whistling Straits, but it rained so he couldn't. We had lunch at the WS clubhouse, and the viefood was good pub-style food. I went to the spa and had the best facial in my life - they even did a hand, shoulder, neck and foot massage. Now that's a facial! But it was not cheap. You can relax afterwards in any of the relaxation areas. I didn't want to leave!

Room tip: Ask for one on a higher floor, although the buildings only have 2 or 3 floors.
