Having read previous reviews on this Marriott, I resigned myself to two nights in yet another overpriced hotel with worn furniture, slow wireless, and an overwhelming conference-cattle-call atmosphere. Nothing doing. Marriotts are famous for their good service even when the physical plant leaves a lot to be desired, but here you can have your cake and eat it too.
Room is huge; tv works, a/c does not sound like a loading dock, and although it was inner room with no view (Rey, excellent front desk clerk, checked me in 4 hours early -- a lifesaver -- and I was not about to get picky), but it had excellent light and enough room to do push-ups, jumping jacks; you get the picture. Finally, location is fabulous: across street from Yerba Buena Park, 2-3 blocks from four museums (MOMA, Cartoon Art, Jewish Museum, African). A million outdoor restaurants, Mel's Diner, etc.
If you don't care about a view, Room 5045 (5th floor): huge and at end of hallway, so you get le...
