This is the third Extended Stay I've been to. The others were great. This one was in pretty rough shape. I checked in at midnight. The front desk closes at 11:00PM so you have to call someone to open the door. The woman was friendly but clueless (and said so). I got my room key and checked out my room: the room was way over sanitized (stinky), 2 of 3 hand towels in the bath were filthy, a "clean" glass in the cupboard had dried milk in the bottom, the carpet in the room was sticky, laminate was peeling off the counter and bedside table, the wireless internet wasn't working and I could heard the TV from next door. I tried to get to sleep for an hour and a half but was distracted by noise and creeped out in general, so I called the Homewood Suites up the road, got a room and checked in there at 2:00AM. In addition to my issues with the room, the hotel seemed worn down: very dirty carpet in the halls, dirty walls, broken tiles in the lobby and the one pop machine in the building was out of order. The most positive thing I can say is that when I went back at 8:00AM to check out the manager noticed I was leaving early and asked about my stay. I gave him my opinion and he indicated that he knew they had some problems to work out but was sorry to hear I had so many. He comped me room for the night and assured me that, as a new manager, he was making improvements. I believe him but I'm still not stayin' there again. Two collegues stayed there for the full week. Both said it was okay for them but won't stay there again on our next business trip..

I was a bit concerned about staying here after reading the couple of negative reviews, but Asheville was booked solid for a Saturday night and the next best option would have been $100 more. I was surprised when we drove up to see a new looking building. The young lady at the front desk was extremely nice. I had phoned her three times the day before to add rooms to my reservation. She recognized my voice as soon as I spoke and pulled my record up immediately. Check-in is listed as 3PM, but the rooms weren't clean at 3:40P. Housekeeping was contacted to clean my room immediately and they came down right away. I made a few phone calls and came back in 20 minutes later to find a spotless room.

This is a very acceptable low cost option. The full size refrigerator was nice. No ice maker, but two ice trays. There was a two-burner stove and a microwave along with a few dishes and a dish drainer. The television wasn't huge, but had a good selection of channels. Wifi was available but I gathered there was a charge. I didn't inquire since I left my computer at home.

There were a few things I could complain about. The only really bothersome problem was the air conditioning unit. Every time it cycled on or off all night, it woke me up (I'm a very light sleeper). I also heard plumbing noise coming from another room, but it might not have been heard if the bathroom door was closed. The towels were not great and the bed was pretty hard.

This wouldn't be my first choice in Asheville, but was fine for the price. The woman who checked me out was just as nice as the one that checked me in. A friendly staff goes a long way in keeping me happy.

I am pretty easy going when it comes to travel, I don't ask for much, a clean room, clean sheets, and a clean bathroom. This place had none of those. The reason we were staying there was because it was pet friendly. If you have pets hopefully they won't be as scared as our poor dog was, I think he knew that this place was really bad. We had planned on staying there for two nights, we left the next morning.

Just returned from a weekend stay in Asheville. I found the Extended Stay America hotel to be a pleasant surprise. After reading the previous reviews on this board, I was a little nervous about booking a room there. Since I decided to make my trip at the last minute & it was a holiday weekend, I was left with few options. I decided to take a chance & give ESA Asheville a try.

Upon check-in, I was placed in a 1st floor non-smoking room, but found the room smelled of smoke. I returned to the front desk & politely asked for another room. I was accomodated immediately & the staff was very apologetic. Overall, I give the staff excellent marks. They were friendly from the time I checked in until the time I checked out. Also very helpful in providing directions.

The rooms (both the original one I was assigned & then the second I requested) were clean with new carpeting. All in all, I think ESA Asheville is a good option for the budget-minded traveler. I paid $85/night for a holiday weekend. I found that to be a fair rate. It is conveinent to downtown, Biltmore, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are tons of chain restaurants on Tunnel Rd & you are within minutes of downtown restaurants & shops.

What a depressing, shabby place. Very poor value for money..$100 a night!! First room which was non smoking..stank of smoke. Then we realized that the staff took their cigarette breaks right under two of the non- smoking bedrooms and it drifted into the rooms. They also yapped and chatted under same rooms at 11:30 at night. We and others complained. This place is not worth the money. There are two new kitchen-included places being built, a Hilton, on Tunnel Road. They are going to put this place out of business. Manager, to his credit did comp us a night. Even he was discouraged. Last ,but not least, was a large blood-stained bedcover which housekeeping had tried to wash with hot soap and water. The large stain remained. OK, the bedcover was clean but yuck, who wants to sleep under that! For the prices they were charging, it should have been replaced.
