I stayed at the Smyth last weekend with a few friends. We were really excited as it looked amazing on the website. In reality it was a really pretty hotel, but there were a comedy of errors, which mainly revolved around the terrible service we received
This started from the time of arrival when our room wasn't ready. It was almost 3pm (check in time) and we were told they couldn't guarantee it would be ready for 3pm so we went away and came back an hour later, when the staff didn't recognise us. They sent up our bags to our hotel room along with another set of luggage not belonging to us, luckily for the owners of the bags we sent them back.
The bathroom also smelt really bad, and I had to ask three times for air freshener to be sent up
Also, the breakfast was a shambles, we waited over an hour for a croissant and some coffee to arrive, when all we wanted to do was have a quick brekkie then head out to the shops
When our friends joined us the next day their room was also not ready. When they did eventually get their room key it was already occupied and there was a naked man standing in front of them!
To be fair the staff did try to make up for the wrong doings by compensating us with some fress stuff, but we would have rathered they got it right in the first place , rather than having to complain, you just want to have a good time on holiday
The only redeeming factor servcie wise was the concierge, both of which were fantastic and spent time to give us great recommendations for bars and restaurants. Very friendly as well
Overall the hotel was ok, but I don't think I would stay there again as there were too many errors
