Our family of four just returned from a 4-night stay in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Our experience at the Oak Square Condominiums was a great one.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. We rented condo #106. It is owned by someone who owns 7 condos in the complex. He, too, was very kind and friendly. He clearly cares about his properties and keeps them clean and up-to-date.
Oak Square is clearly an older property that has been well-maintained and updated. We enjoyed the fireplace, the plasma TV, the balcony and the small kitchen allowed us to enjoy snacks, sodas, and some breakfasts in our condo. There is both an indoor and an outdoor pool and whirlpool. These too were clean and well taken care of.
One of our favorite parts of this property was that it is one block off the main street in the heart of Gatlinburg. Once we parked at Oak Square we didn't even have to get in our car! This is important to us because there is not a lot of convenient parking in downtown Gatlinburg and it can add expense to our trip.
I would not hesitate to recommend Oak Square to anyone!

My family has stayed at Oak Square for the past 20 years. It has always been a wonderful place to stay until two years ago when the hotel got new owners. Sadly we did not know this when we went in July and we ended up having a terrible experience. The hotel had not been kept up and the room we stayed in was dingy and the staff was not friendly at all! When we got home we called Melanie, who had worked in the hotel for many years and knew our family pretty well. She informed us that the hotel had been sold to new owners but that original owners still owned about 10 condos in the hotel. She said we could contact them for a room if we ever wanted to stay there again. She also said we could book with other individuals who privately owned condos there too. So if you are going to Gatlinburg do not book a room with new owners of this hotel!!! Ask to be directed to owners of the privately owned rooms or the previous owners!!

My husband and I arrived at Oak Square Condos around 7 that night. My dad was having surgery the next morning and I was to be there at 6 a.m. .... the office was closed and my envelope with all the info was taped to the door... we got in ok with no problems but I was totally shocked at how small this place was... I must admit, it did have a kitchenette, living room and seperate bedroom, but all the furniture was so close together, you had to move the dining table to get the door open...on top of this , the dining chairs were so wobbly we were afraid to sit in them...but we were making the best of it... I unpacked, put everthing where it went, all the clothes, toiletries, food , all the stuff we brought, we were staying for 4 days, so it was a good bit and then there was no where to store the suitcases... and no room in the floor because the rooms were so small, I finally had to stack them on one end of the couch... it was freezing cold that night and I went in to take a nice hot shower and there was no hot water... I dont mean the water was warm or not very hot, I mean the hot water tank wasnt working..!! It was cold as ice... I looked on the papers for a number to call for emergencies but there was nothing....no numbers to call in the condo either... so I tried calling the number that I used to book the place... I was given another number which was the front office.. and of course the front office was closed... I called the same booking number again and she said she would connect me to the after hours number... it connected me with an answering system that said told me to press 0 for help.. and thats it... I would press 0 and it would take me back to the same message... nothing else... well needless to say, there was no hot shower, I had to heat water in the microwave just to wash my face... the next morning, I started trying to get in touch with someone for help around 4, I was suppose to be at the hospital by 6... nothing... there was no way to take a shower in that freezing cold water.. I waited hoping I could get some help as the morning wore on... the office was suppose to open by 9... I went down to the office a little before 9 and it was closed so I waited..... no one got there til almost 9:30... I told him the problem and he said he would move us and he did, but there we were, the morning of my dads surgery, had to pack everything back up and move to a different floor... AND unpack again.. by the time we got everything packed, moved, and unpaced again, it was after 11...and then still had to get ready before we could leave...I asked the man at the desk if he could at least knock some off our price for the preceeding night because of all the trouble I had, and he told me very rudely flat out no... I would be getting no discount.... even though the complex is convenient to Gatlingburg, there are too many other places to stay without being put through something like that....!!!

Oak Square condos were a great place to stay, me and my brother and cousin and grandmother stayed for a week and it was great, because it was so close to the main strip of gatlinburg but wasnt right in town so it was quieter. i would go back because it was a good place to be. the rooms were nice a comfortable and the TWO pools were nice to have one indoors one outdoors and the hot tube! it as so cool you got to go there!
