This was a very nice Hampton - just a few blocks from the French Quarter. Good size rooms, great breakfast and very clean. There is added security for floors with guest rooms as you have to have a key to get to them on the elevator. It is valet parking so be prepared - but they are very quick and courteous. I've stayed in some "high class" hotels that weren't this nice and accommodating. Good price and good location. Only a few small cons: the beds are ok - but a little hard, the shower pressure was average, and being on the street side, there were sirens at night (but nothing too terribly bad). I would stay again.

I reserved at the Hampton Inn based on previous experience with the Brand and on the reviews from tripadvisor.
The entrance of the hotel is far from those of other HIs I have stayed at.
We got our rooms on the 4th floor, which is convenient to the breakfast buffet (on same floor), but rooms very very dirty. Floor was sticky. They came and vacuumed it, but obviously, the sticky filth, does not go away with a vacuum. We did not take our shoes off for the whole night.
Size of the rooms was much smaller than at other Hampton Inns.
Bathroom, too basic, again, not in line with the brand.
Bed was good, as in most Hampton Inns. Breakfast was in line with other places, and attendant was there to pick up and re-stock.
We ended up leaving just after one night, and booked at another hotel.
Upon check out, the front desk clerk/manager, did not even ask why we were leaving before our scheduled date. She probably knew how bad those rooms were.
Perhaps a higher floor, street facing room may be ok, and those may be bigger rooms as well.
Location is just next to the French Quarter and Canal street, without being directly where the noise is. Other than that, a hotel well overrated. Price wise, you can get a room at the Marriott, the JW or other full service hotels for same rate, just a couple of blocks away.

Room tip: Street facing, not 4th. floor.

If you walk out the Hotel Entrance and turn right, walk two blocks and you are on Bourbon Street. Harrah's is walkable, 5 blocks, convention center is a hike. The good: clean hotel with courteous staff. The bad: room was not made up until after 3:30 PM, when I tried to make coffee on Morning #2, they had not restocked the coffee. I was there on a Wednesday night and they had a "Manager's Reception" that included hot snacks and cold beer. Breakfast was so so. Parking is around 25 bucks a night.

Room tip: High floors that face out.

This is great hotel in New Orleans. Issac the manager greeted us with a warm welcome! He also gave us great directions to Bourbon Street, French Quarter, and other tourist sights. All the staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. They also allowed us late checkout as our flight was in the late afternoon.

It's an older hotel but very clean. The only suggestion would be to re-do the bathrooms. Our bathroom was showing some signs of age with worn faucets, laminate counters and an older tub/shower enclosure. Otherwise, the bedding was fresh and clean and the carpets in fine shape. The breakfast bar on the 4th floor was never crowded and had a nice selection of fruits, cereal, breads, egg dishes, coffee and juice. There is also a computer with a printer for ease of printing boarding passes on the 4th floor.

It is ideally located to all the tourist sights and you can catch the trolley about a block down the street for $1.25. Bourbon Street is about 3 blocks and Harrahs Casino about 5 blocks away. (Bourbon St is a little crazy after midnight...) If you have time visit the WW2 museum, it's fascinating and as good as any Smithsonian Museum.

We had a great time at this Hampton Inn and would definately return. No complaints from us!

Room tip: Stay on a higher floor is possible. Our corner room had 4 windows!

We spent two nights at the Hampton Inn and it was GREAT. The staff was very professional and friendly. We were there attending the Bayou Classic and this hotel is within walking distance to the Superdome, Harrah's, Shopping and Bourbon Street. The staff was very helpful in giving us directions. Also the cookies at the front desk was very good. The breakfast was good and there was a good variety of items. My room was clean and very comfortable. I received a call from the front desk inquiring about the room and if I was satisfied. My experience was very good and I plan to stay there whenever I go to New Orleans.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
