our room was very nice. my husband and i stayed in a corner room that had a king-sized bed. the room was very clean and large. the best part was the awesome air conditioner. we are both hot natured and you could hang ice sickles in our room---it was awesome! the hotel was very quiet and well secured. the front door has at least two bell hops/valet people there, then at 11pm the door locks and you need your room key to enter. when you enter the elevator, you need your room key to get to your floor. the bed was alright, i've had more comfortable beds at other locations, but the linens and pillows were very nice.
one thing i was not aware of and rather upset about was the $50/day "resort fee." shame on me for not assuming they would charge this, since most tourist cities have this "fee" now. i didn't know about this until the hotel overcharged my credit car for both the nightly fee and resort fee. they assure me the money will be refunded back on my card in 3 business days, but i'm still fustrated that i wasn't told about it.
all in all, the hampton inn was a great place to stay, as it usually is. close enough to all the fun new orleans spots, but far enough away to not be distured by annoying people. the cable car goes right in front of the hotel, and it only costs $3/day for unlimited use. i would reccomend this hotel to anyone, but just be aware of the resort fee.
