The hotel is very upscale. The valets were very nice. The lobby is very stylish and elegant. The room was a bit small, but on par for a hotel in the city. It was decorated in a contemporary fashion. We asked for a corner room, which had windows on 2 walls, and a great view, even though it was of the street and other buildings, I still loved it. :) Amenities include a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and a safe. That's it. The bathroom was decorated nicely, and a pretty good size, and the water pressure was average.
The location is great for tourists. It's a block off of Canal Street, and about 2 blocks from Bourbon Street. Easy walking distance to the French Quarter.
Now for the negatives.
Parking is $29+tax per day, and you have to tip the valets. Keep that in mind if you get a good deal like we did (Thanks, Priceline!).
The employees (excluding the valets) seemed disinterested and bored. My son fell in the lobby and cut his face pretty bad. Only one employee came up and asked how he was, even though a child was screaming and bleeding. There was no offer to call 911 or give us directions to an urgent care place. We, frantic parents, did it ourselves, as the employees stared at the sky.
We didn't swim, but got a look at the pool, it seemed kinda tiny. That being said, the hotel is in the middle of the Central Business District, and probably geared toward business travelers, not families.
Ask for a corner room, they have more windows and are a bit bigger. Also ask for a higher floor room...
