We loved this hotel at Sierra Nevada! The staff is very nice and helpful, and even if you don’t know a word in Spanish, they will try talking to you, in English, French and even a little bit of Portuguese…
The rooms aren’t big and the tv is really tiny, but we were there for skiing!!
You may enter to the hotel by the Parking at level -2 (we stayed 5 days and we payed 70€) or by the main hall at level 0 (there’s almost no place to park in Sierra Nevada, so you have to park your car at the parking area at level -2). All the rooms are above the hall (level -1, -2,-3 and -4).
Although the hotel is near Pradollano (the main square where there are many restaurants, ski stores, supermarkets, etc..), the hotel area is quite peaceful.
At the hotel you can buy your “forfeits”, escape to the enormous queues that are usually at the official “forfeits” store, and go directly to the mountain. If you want a place to put your ski/snowboard stuff you can ask at the reception desk for the keys to the ski lockers.
The ski lockers are at level -2. You have to leave the hotel at level -2 and walk a little bit, until the end of the park. Near the paper recycling zone, and near the “Telecabina Hotel” exit, you’ll found the ski lockers. They have a great location, because you don’t have to walk too much with your ski/snowboard material… you can end your ski day, enter in the elevator and there they are: the ski lockers!
At the hotel, there’s also an internet spot, a bar and a game room near the restaurant. Parents found it quite nice, because they can finish their dinner quietly while their kids are playing with other children at the game room. Many families were staying at this hotel, so at dinner time, in the game room, we found almost 20 children playing and amusing themselves.
The restaurant open’s at 8:00 for breakfast and at 20:00 for dinning. We always arrived early, before all families and before all seats by the window were taken. Dining near the window with a mountain sunset at the window is really nice!!!
That wasn’t a problem for us, but if you don’t like noise at meals, this hotel would not be good for you, because there are big families, and many groups of friends that make your meals not so quiet.
We loved the food!!There’s a great variety that we haven’t found in some 4stars hotels!
At dinner, there’s a man that grills the meat that you want. We never had the same dinner twice! In 5 days we have eaten smoked salmon, seafood, all kinds of meat (even duck!), cold salads, cheese, roast beef, pasta, pizza, a great variety of deserts and fruit (grapes, strawberries, pineapples, mangos, oranges, kiwis, apples, etc..)For those who don’t like to peel their fruit, there were also canned fruits!
If you aren’t a winter sports person, Sierra Nevada hasn’t got much to offer you. It’s a small and cozy place, with many ski stores, nice for who likes ski, snowboard and ice skating. At night you’ll have a few bar’s open for who wants to have a drink.
