What a wonderful old hotel, it is full of history and as you enter into the lobby, you step back in time.
Yes, it is old, looks old, feels old, but the service is outstanding and the staff are proud to work there and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and surrounding area.
The beds are big and lots of fluffy pillows. The rooms are not so big or spacious but then it is an old hotel and not designed like modern hotel rooms, choose your room wisely.
The location is perfect for a tourist right next to the Alamo, center of town for shopping and in walking distance to the river walk for a multitude of restaurants and bars.
The hotel’s restaurant is well laid out and a bit pricey with a limited selection on the menu, we ate outside all the time on the river walk.
Overall, this hotel is beautifully clean and tidy with classical antique décor everywhere, just remember it is about 150 years old and full of frontier history and not a square shaped clinical modern hotel
