If I ever write a poor review of a restaurant, I try to return and see if things have changed, especially if it used to be one of my favorite restaurants.
We recently returned to Santa Fe Bite with friends. As we walked up to the hostess, I noted there was one empty booth and three empty tables in the dining room. The hostess looked at me and asked, how many in the party and I stated 4 and we would like a table. She took some menu's, took our name with no other names on the wait list and she said it will be about 5 minutes, then turned around and walked away. She went to the back near the eating bar, hugged someone and started talking with the guest who had been eating. She returned in 8 minutes and then seated us at one of the previously noted empty tables. After memorizing the menu, re-arranging the condiments on the table and discussing the days events with our guests,18 minutes to be exact, someone came to our table and took our drink orders, a beer, coke and two waters. The waiter arrived 9 minutes later and took our order. Did I mention that we arrived at 7:30 and now it was 8:05 and we were just ordering. Remarkably, our food was served in 22 minutes. My wife and I split the pork chops and our guests shared the Santa Fe Bite Green Chili Cheese Burger and a salad. The food was excellent. Our guests said the hamburger was perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. Our pork chops were as good as they have always been and cooked to perfection. However while eating, no one came by to fill two empty water glasses and I had to flag someone down to get a refill of my wife's coke. At this point there were plenty of empty tables as the restaurant was closed. The winter months closing is at 8:00PM but it is not posted on their web site which remains at 9:00PM. We know, as we looked up the hours the day before and after arriving at 8:05, we found the restaurant closed. A waiter said they haven't changed the hours on the web site yet but it was posted on the front door.
The bottom line, the food is good but the service again, is extremely poor. It may \
be the lack of proper training or under staffed but whatever it is, Bobcat Bites it's not and the owners need to address these issues for what could again be a fun restaurant.
