I travel a decent amount for business so I am in hotels at least 8 times a year. The Hamilton Hotel seemed like it was halfway to being good but lacking on a lot of little things. First the good: Bed was nice. TV in the room was excellent. Bathroom was a little small but otherwise OK. Soap, shampoo, etc. were nice. Towels were soft and clean. Front desk staff was nice. Now to the bad: Lots of things seemed out of order or broken (ice machines, vending). Couldn't use my room key to enter from the side door even though there was a big sign that said use key for reentry. Had to walk all the way back to the front lobby to get in. The building has obviously just been renovated but there were some odds and ends that need to be touched up like the window/balcony areas, space around the heaters, and so on. The pool, business center, and fitness areas were typical. There were a couple parties going on when I stayed, one looked like a family reunion and my group which was fresh off a wedding reception next door at the Sheraton. Many of us stayed at the Hamilton because it was cheaper, and sometimes you get what you pay for. The night manager was very rude to both groups. He was trying to keep the noise level down, which is understandable, even if it was New Years Eve. But instead of calmly asking us to keep it down he screamed at us like we were a bunch of children and really rubbed everyone the wrong way. Once I finally got to bed it was fairly quiet with just the faint sound of the highway in the distance. I ended up running out early in the morning to get some cold medicine but apparently the fire alarm went off twice around 7AM. The breakfast was good, your typical hotel breakfast stuff. Staff did a good job of keeping it stocked. I would say overall the place was a little pricy for what it was. You can get a similar if not better hotel for $10-$30 cheaper in the same area. I would stay there again only if I got a good deal or as a last resort. It wasn’t BAD but having stayed in the area before I know there are better options. I would say anyone who thinks this is a great hotel probably doesn’t travel much. My final recommendation is, if you need a place to stay in the north Cincinnati area, the Hamilton probably shouldn’t be on your short list… but if you do wind up there don’t worry too much. It’s not dirty or in a bad part of town or anything, but be willing to put up a few minor issues like the ones I mentioned.
