As others have said, the view and setting are spectacular. It was refreshing to be able to relax by the large pool and their Pina Coladas were pretty darn good. By American standards, the hotel was so, so, but by Cuban standards it was pretty nice. My room was quiet, the air conditioning worked and there was a modern, well lit bathroom with lots of hot water. The room was basic and fairly clean. The housekeepers were very friendly and nice. I gave mine some things for the laundry, and she brought them back the next morning. The charge was very reasonable. However, the next day, I realized that two pieces of my underwear were missing. Another member of our group lost three pieces.
The restaurant was marginal. The first night, we ordered the pork chop, which turned out to be chopped pork. It was overcooked and hard as a rock. No one could eat it. The bread was dry and all of the desserts tasted the same. I think they make one kind of cake and then just put some different colored frostings or sauces on it. There was one cake where the frosting had obviously been scraped off. I am guessing it was left over from a wedding or birthday, and the decorations had been scraped off so it could be served in the restaurant. There was a cook at breakfast who made tasty omelets, however.
They had internet service, but it only worked for a short while the first night we were there.
