The Designated Spouse Equivalent and I stayed here as part of a 'Hidden Italy' self guided walking trip between Florence and Siena and were delighted with the welcome we received from the staff at reception - very warm and engaging, on a very chilly October eveneing. The streets around the hotel / restaurant were full of crappy market stalls (the same the world over) as well as some artisanal and local goods which were splendid as part of the feast day fo their local patron saint. Lively and convivial atmosphere. The room - which was right next to the family reception area, looked out over the town square and was clean and pleasant. However, the food in the restaurant was disappointing: the chicken 'fillet' my wife had looked and tasted as if is had been driven over by a small car, and was dry and lacking any discernible flavour. The meals being offered to the locals looked more appetising, and perhaps it was just a poor choice. The service was friendly and helpful though. Returning to bed to get an early start the next morning on our walk was a waste of time as the family and perhaps other guests (though we saw no sign of any of them either that night or the next morning) used the room right next to our bedroom to chatter and laugh for hours as well as watch TV. Very noisy. Not to mention the thumping diesel generator in the town square! I suppose you chalk it up to bad timing. Trying to explain this to the owner the next morning before we left proved a little futile, even if we were at pains to say that there was nothing wrong with the room itself. He didn't charge us for the wine from dinner which was nice of him though his explanation that there was 'no other room' as the place was full seemed untrue....or the the other guests must have been ghosts. As the room had been booked through Hidden Italy several months in advance, it seemed a bit odd that we be given the noisiest possible room in the hotel. Still, good value for money - if not paid for through 'Hidden Italy' (warning: You will be hard pressed to see what you are paying for firstly here on the first night and then for the next night and last night in Siena if considering one of their walks, as the rooms themselves go for about 120 euros). We would stay there again but be sure to check that there is no fiesta outside in the square!
Not on the first floor and at the back is likely to be quieter.

Dear Stemar 44,
Report response as inappropriate
thanks for your review, I understood everything you wrote, this Festival goes on every year in the middle of October and there are people who plan to come here just because of this, but again I undersand if you say was noisy until late for people who have to wake up early the next day and walk. Outside of your chicken fillet, you told me you had a good dinner, so sorry about the fillet, but thanks for your positive comment about the rest of your meal. You are welcome for the wine and the room I gave you without the festival going on is silent... and please trust me when I told you was the only one available (of the same level) that night . Hope one day you can come back here whenever you would like, maybe without walking so you can enjoy also the stuff goling on here in town and will be a pleasure inviting you for a dinner.
