Our family likes to have our frequent get-aways outdoors usually beach/sea. This time we went for the second time to San Juan La Union as it boasts of being a surfing paradise. Surfing season for this part of in northern Philippines is from Oct - Mar.
It took us about 1.5 hrs to get to PM Final Option Resort & German Bistro (Km 279, San Juan LU) from Baguio passing Naguillan via the San Fernando diversion road away from the congested city proper.
We found the PM FInal Option to be what it claims to be - First Class duly accredited with the DOT (Dept of Tourism Philippines).
Our accomodations was at the main building - a comfortable and spacious de luxe bedroom - good for family of 3 (but can easily sleep 4-5, extra beds to be requested) @ P3000 per night. The air-conditioned room (with TV and internet wi-fi) as well as the whole place was spotlessly clean and well- maintained. Our unit had its own spacious veranda to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Enjoyed the strong hot showers after beach or swimming pool splash. Though pool was small, even when the place was fully booked, the pool was not as crowded as the wide beach and big waves were more enticing The refreshing jacuzzi offered to guest for free was welcome alternative for non-swimmers. Cottages and beach facilities were so accessible and well-maintained.
The food selection was wide - American, European and Filipino cuisine. We indulged in some of our favorite meals and tried the house specialties that were reasonably priced (ranging from standard meals at $3 to steaks at $10). The service is just great as the place with the friendly staff attending to our every need. In one of the reviews here a guest complained of the watchful eyes of the staff, but I am inclined to believe that this was mistaken for their sensitivity and intention to quickly attend to their guests. We commend them for being a pet-friendly as they accommodated our other family member- our pet dog., Prince though pets are only allowed in the garden/beach areas.
What we liked about this place is its quiet environment- away from the crowd and noisy bars at the compound and the beach. It is not the usual surf-area of Urbiztondo San Juan, but it offers the big waves. Some surfers had a great run here during the late afternoon. In the mid-morning, one tend to be jumping over the waves rather than riding as they come in quickly one after another.
This place is indeed first class at a good price.
As described, this hotel to be a first class at a good price in a great location,
