The price for a basic room with queen size bed seemed to have dropped to 500 THB when we recently stayed here for two days. My girlfriend and I had to go by nice decorated stairs to our small room at the third floor, as there was no elevator. No big deal. At our floor not many rooms were rented, so we enjoyed our quiet stay. Unlike other reviewers, we didn't notice the morning market. We enjoyed the location of the hotel, as the streets around the hotel were not too busy, but still we were centrally located along a cosy shopping street.
The room walls and corners were nor filthy neither neatly. It definitely was too small for us. After putting our backpacks on the ground, there was almost no space to walk. Logistic issues! There was an old t.v. in the room, but i was a little bit disappointed that the channels were not well programmed and it didn't have any of the star- or truevision channels. However, there was hot water, a fridge, hairdryer, airconditioning, and most important: a clean comfortable bed. The bathroom however was poor. It was small, didn't have any ventilation, the toilet was was partly placed under the sync, toilet water didn't flow strong and the shower curtain was between my legs when I sat on the toilet seat. So, a bathroom like that!
In our room there was also a service book including menu card. One page described something like: "if you want to take any items from the room, please inform us.", followed by a list of prices for remote controls, paintings, pillow sheets and so on. After a long conversation with myself I decided not to buy the plastic cloth hanger for 100 THB.
The reception staff couldn't speak English, but my girlfriend could speak Thai. They couldn't offer us a basic free city map, but they could borrow us an umbrella. The kindness and service offered by different reception staff members was very different. A male person in the evening was not so happy to help us, while a female person in the morning was very helpful, kind and professional. The lobby was well air-conditioned, and a small free breakfast (not too tasty) could be used. To hear sound from both a TV and background radio was just too annoying and not compatible with a Western mind like mine.
After all I would say an overall score of 3,5 out of 5,0.
Pros: location, price, sleeping comfort, passageway
Cons: room size, bathroom, tourist service
Select a lower floor as you probably will have a better free wi-fi signal.
