Where do I start? The place is fantastic. Nosara is incredible and Dave exceeded expectations at every turn. I stayed here on a trip with the staff from my school. These were colleagues but definitely not a work trip. We were here for fun and we got it. Dave hooked up everything: surf lessons, boards, transportation to and from the airport, transportation to and from wherever we wanted to go. He was so attentive but never obtrusive. The rooms themselves were great- they had everything. Outside the room there's a private pool, bar, bbq, hammocks, and only a block to the beach. Surf racks in every apartment, washer dryer, dvds for rent, internet cafe, the whole nine yards. Definitely going back next year!

I was down in Nosara for my brother’s wedding in June and our group rented out all of Villa Tortuga, including the Tree House, where I stayed. From the moment we arrived in Costa Rica, Dave saw to it that we all had an excellent, stress-free time. Dave arranged taxi rides to and from Liberia Airport and set up activities to keep the guests from antagonizing the bride and groom. We were treated like family and Dave made sure the trip was the perfect destination wedding.

While Nosara is ideal for a wedding, it’s also great for other activities, like surfing, zip-lining and nature tourism. As Dave says on the website, he and his team will help you do as much or as little as you like.

Highly recommend Nosara and Villa Tortuga and hope to make it down again soon!

Room tip: As I mentioned above, our wedding group rented out all of Villa Tortuga so I got to see everything. All of the Villas are well maintained with great amenities. If you and your party are unsure of which one to pick, I know Dave would be happy to provide guidance. Enjoy your holiday!

We stayed in the tree house, one of the homes nestled within Tortuga complex. The tree house is a different layout than the rest of the places but we had a tour of the other rental units and were impressed. We stayed here on our second last stop of a 10 month family trip so have quite a few benchmarks to compare. Everything you need is at your fingertips - from AC to cooking to a pool to rental DVDs and surfboards. Dave, the property manager and family owner actually ended up teaching our whole family how to surf. Having access to Dave, boards (surf and bogey) and every movie you could imagine was a real bonus for us. It felt more like a small community than it did a complement separate house rental or overcrowded hotel. The right mix. The pool is on the small side but is the perfect way to end a beach day.

The location is great, a 200m walk to the beach and good surf spot. We found the walk into town to buy groceries a little long tho - better to have a car but entirely doable on foot. Also close to a few good restaurants. There are places closer to the main drag but they'd get a lot more car traffic.

The key to this place is that it's small enough to intimate but big enough to my feel isolated. Dave makes the place and sets the tone - casual, laid back but will always help and get you what you need.

We looked around at a bunch of other places while we there and felt like we made the right call staying at Tortuga and leveraging their services.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to families, older or younger couples. Would work well for small groups too, each having their own place but sharing the central pool an BBQ area.

I researched all the accommodations in Nosara and glad I chose Villa Tortuga. It's one block from the beach and situated in it's own little tropical setting with a private pool. The villas were nicely furnished and spacious with a huge kitchen. The Frog Pad is right there too to rent DVDs and surfboards. I did a one week surfboard rental and exchanged my board daily to try different boards all for the same price. Dave is great and was very helpful in booking our group rental.

I've stayed at Villa Tortuga twice now, once traveing solo in 2005 and again with friends in 2009, and I know I'll be back one day. Dave and his staff are always kind and helpful and fun to chat with. The grounds of the property are lush and beautiful and lounging by the pool with a book was one of my favorite pasttimes during my stay.Because Villa Torutga is small, the pool is never crowded and the only noises I heard while there were the howler monkeys that live in the trees above the rooms! It's very close to everything: only a three minute walk to the beach, across the street from a cool restaurant and bar called the Guilded Iguana, short walk to the mini market as well as other bars, shops and hotels... yet it seems so secluded and private! It's so quiet and serene that you'd never know that other amenities are so near. I love that the rooms have AC and mini kitchens, and the book swap and bike and surfboard rentas at the Frog Pad l were very convenient as well. This is a great place for families, couples and those traveling alone and I always recommed it to anyone who travels to this part of Costa Rica.
