I'm not saying anything in this report that I haven't already complained about to the hotel direct. They ignored all my comments, except the one about health and safety, which they just completely down-played, and suggested had happened in an outhouse. So, not only a poor hotel, but one that doesn't want to learn and improve from feedback given to it.
Overall, a cynically-run hotel, cost-cutting at every corner.
Poor service - from the receptionists through to the restaurant staff. And no management ever knowingly on site, so no-one to complain to, when you aren't happy. When I asked to see a manager, I was told 'no'.
Don't take the two-course set evening meal (we had to, it was a part of our package). A truely dreadful experience when you have to eat it for 10 days. All the main meals tasted the same - fatty meat, pureed root vegetables, the same old potatoes every night. No green veg at all. The staff 'encourage' you to have main meal and pudding, rather than starter and main meal. The puddings are boring.
The hotel isn't well placed for the cross-country skiing that it billed - some routes start from there, otherwise it's very expensive taxi rides required to get you to most of the trails.
Be aware that if the fire alarm goes off you can't guarantee that a member of staff will take the lead and sort the problem out. A candle caused a problem in the main lounge area one afternoon ..... it was a guest who sorted the problem out, opened a window and let all other guests know the problem was resolved. No member of staff was anywhere around.
Be careful in the sauna area - very slippery floors with insufficient matting around.
Bathroom -wise, bring absolutely everything you need with you - no tissues, soap, hairdryer etc supplied at all.
On the plus side - apparently, it's quieter than the other hotels in the area! Ok views from the hotel rooms. Pleasant ambience in dining room and lounge areas.
