We spent two fabulous weeks touring Italy and we had a wonderful visit to the small Tuscany village of Lucignano. We chose this town from a Trip Advisor recommendation as being one of the smaller towns that has not gotten so touristy. If you are looking for a small Italian town experience, you should check this out. We felt like locals and it is such a safe and comfortable town. Lucignano also has a great location for day trips around Tuscany. We took a day trip to Cortona that was within 45 minutes and the drive was beautiful.
We can’t say enough about the wonderful owners of Il Cassero, Luigi and his wife, who extended a warm welcome when we arrived and were genuinely happy to see us. They made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and the kids felt like it was as if we were visiting family. We did not stay in the main historic building of Il Caserro, but we rented the Casa Lina apartment in the village that was perfect for our family of five. If you want to live among Italian locals, Casa Lina will provide this experience. www.ilcassero-tuscany.com/reservations.html
