Calling itself the "Outdoor Capital of the U.K.," Fort William is a major tourist centre for hillwalking and climbing. It's also known for historical sight-seeing, shopping, walking and cycling. Just outside of town, there is a downhill mountain-biking track that attracts thousands every year, including major international competitors. That should give teenagers the jolt of excitement they're looking for. Speaking of excitement, more than a few famous films were shot in or near Fort William, including Braveheart and the opening sequence of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
