Some places to check out to get in on the nightlife in Victoria:

Sticky Wicket Pub & Restaurant in the Strathcona Hotel
919 Douglas St.- (250) 383-7137
A sophisticated pub, you can find quite a variety of Scotch whisky and draft beer here. Dress is casual despite the classy feel.

Club 9one9 in the Strathcona Hotel
919 Douglas St.- (250) 383-7157
Club 9one9 is great for dancing, with live music and a DJ. This is the best choice if you are looking for a young, student-aged crowd (low twenties).

Big Bad Johns in the Strathcona Hotel
919 Douglas St
Big Bad Johns is a dive bar on purpose. Peanut shells on the floor, bra's hanging from the ceiling and practical jokes make this a fun place to hang.

The Rooftop at the Strathcona Hotel
919 Douglas Street
Open in the summer you can eat, drink and play beach volleyball all up on the roof.

Hermann’s Jazz Club
753 View St.- (250) 388-9166
Go to Hermann’s if you want to hear some great music, live!

Check their calendar at the website link above. They don't have music every night, but it's the best of Victoria's large music community. The low ceiling and excellent acoustics make it a great place to listen. And the audience is generally pretty quiet so you can really hear. Please respect that and don't go there to party.

Don't go for the decor or the food though - they are good enough but it's really about the music.

Hermann's looks like a nightclub but it's technically a restaurant, so children of any age can go in, listen, and eat.

Monday magazine
(250) 382-6188 is a free publication found in cafes around the city. It can tell you more about the nightlife scene in Victoria!

Clubzone is a website with up to date listings of bars and nightclubs and any events they may be having. It is available for many North American cities but this link goes to the page for Victoria BC.
