A converted 16th century farmhouse, this house offers a unique opportunity to stay in a listed, traditional Lakeland home. The property retains some rare original features such as oak panelling between the bedrooms, an original 16th century open fire range and spice cupboard in the sitting room and oak stairs, whilst having the benefit of modern comforts such as fitted kitchen and bathroom and freeview TV.
The property has been maintained as a holiday cottage by the current owners family for a number of generations.

We stayed in the 2 bed cottage attached to Bellman house and it was so homely and comfortable with lovely veiws and walks. We stayed with our 2 year old who loved visiting the cows in the field right outside the cottage and walking up the hill to visit the sheep. The veiws are amazing and its so peaceful. We have stayed at Bellman houses many times and have always enjoyed the amazing location and lovely old original features of the house. The updated kitchen and new bathroom have really enhanced our stay this year (new photos needed). Plus new heating has made it lovely and cosy. We will be back! more

We stayed here with a 7, 5 and 2 year old in not very nice weather over New Year. The cottage is full of character with lovely big bedrooms, original oak paneling and a cosy open fire. The kitchen and bathroom are newly fitted out (so different and much more modern than the pictures on the website) and well equipped... more

1 week - deposit +100%
Payment in £ sterling, either by cheque (payable to Mrs A Bannister) BACS transfer or Paypal.
First £10 electricity included in price, remainder payable to the Caretaker on departure.
£100 breakage bond in cash payable to the Caretaker on arrival, breakages will be charged out of this and the remainder returned.

Car: A short 15 minute drive from the M6 motorway, Junction 36, a 5 minute drive from Bowness. Full directions will be sent to you on booking.

Rail:Windermere railway station is approximately 5 miles away from the cottage. Regular trains link Windermere with Oxenholme station on the main Euston/West Coast line. Journey times: London=less than 4 hours, Manchester=less than 1.5 hours, Edinburgh=less than 4 hours, Birmingham=less than 2.5 hours and Newcastle=less than 3 hours.

Sea: Our nearest ferry port is Heysham, with regular links from Belfast and The Isle of Man. Liverpool and Holyhead ports have regular links from Belfast and Dublin and Newcastle and Hull ports link from Northern Europe.
