Through an archway is a modern well-equipped kitchen which features a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, fridge, gas hob and an electric oven. A washing machine is available on request to guests of both our cottages, which is housed in a separate utility building. An iron and ironing board are located in the cottage. Off road parking for one car is located within the property grounds. We cannot provide charging at this stage for electric vehicles but there are charging points available in Belper, approximately five minutes' drive away. The hamlet of Blackbrook is ideal for walkers and has a criss-cross of public footpaths to suit all levels of fitness in the immediate local area; the Midshires way passes directly past the property. There is a local bus service hourly which connects with many of the local market towns, the closest being the market town of Belper 2 km away and a pleasant walk across the fields by the river. There you will find a wide range of cafe's, restaurants and pubs which serve traditional fare and a wide range of international cuisine. There are country pubs within a 2-minute drive from your cottage. You will find local independent shops and a supermarket in Belper's thriving community. The 6.1 bus has a stop right outside the property hourly, which provides easy access to Belper, Derby or Matlock. This operates from early morning with the last service of the day arriving to Blackbrook just after 11pm (Mon - Sat). A second adjoining two bedroom property, 'The Byre', ( property ID 614599) is also available for rental if more space is needed for a larger party of people. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children as the garden area is unsuitable.

Beautiful cottage and setting
Helen is a fantastic host, always happy to see her guests, provides little extras, scones, jam and cram, some milk to enjoy your cuppa with scones, and always a vase full of flowers. Immaculate cottage, very comfortable in a private location that is easy to access with good parking in a great location.

Very comfortable and clean. Lovely hosts when we had a power cut immediately came over to make sure we were ok and gave an extra torch. Nice to have a choice of summer quilt and winter quilt. Also appreciated having supplies of tea bags sugar milk coffee oil salt and pepper plus dishwasher tablets kitchen roll foil and cling film. Will highly recommend and if in area again will stay. Ps. Thanks for the apples

Home from Home
Great location for sightseeing with lots to do and it was great to come back and relax in a very comfortable cottage providing those little extras. Everything you could need has been catered for to a really high standard. Such a comfy bed (which I could have taken home) and to be able to relax on a comfortable settee and put your feet up - heaven. Helen and Tony are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The cream tea with home cooked scones was yummy. Definitely a place to return to.

Really comfortable and well equiped cottage in a great location
We regularly book cottages in the UK and this is one of the best for comfort cleanliness and location. This was our third visit having previously stayed in the larger cottage next door with family. A big "thank you" to Tony and Helen who were very welcoming and attentive hosts; nothing was too much trouble. We will visit again

A cosy, quite location with the most amazing bed
I stayed at the Mistal for a week, I was warmly welcomed by Helen and the cottage was lovely. It was perfect for my stay, the location was great close to Belper which is pretty. The cottage is cosy and so relaxing and the bed is amazing no expense spared with the duvet and the covers, I looked forward to getting an early night every night, I may have even slept a little late a couple of days as I didn't want to get out of it. Bathroom was a good size and the kitchen is perfectly equipped. Will definitely stay again.
