City apartment break in Cardiff

Cardiff is the Welsh capital and provides a good springboard for exploring the best that Wales has to offer. Hiring a city centre apartment provides the freedom to come and go as you wish and to tailor an itinerary that perfectly fits your family’s needs.

Rugby at the Millenium Stadium:

Rugby is the main passion of the Welsh nation so, if you get the chance, you should take in a rugby international at the fabulous new national stadium. The hairs will stand up as you hear the faithful singing Bread of Heaven and witness the juddering on-field challenges as the Welsh players endeavour to live up to their team’s proud heritage. And if it rains, at least the stadium has a state of the art sliding roof!

Brecon Beacons National Park:

Less than an hour’s drive from Cardiff, Brecon Beacons is an area of amazing natural beauty and offers a brilliant opportunity to indulge in a spot of walking. Bring a picnic and seek out one of the waterfalls that Brecon Beacons is famous for, such as Sgwd Henrhyd which is the tallest waterfall in Wales at 90 feet! If walking isn’t your thing, there’s the option of hiring a bicycle or participating in some horse riding.

Underground boat ride in King Arthur’s Labyrinth:

A great family attraction is provided by the King Arthur’s Labyrinth centre which is located in Corris, in Mid Wales. Both kids and adults will love the thrill on climbing into a boat and then sailing underground. Once deep inside the caverns, you’ll disembark and get to walk through the tunnels on a guided tour. Tickets cost just £7.50 for adults and £5.00 for children and, as well as enjoying the underground sights, the story of King Arthur (and other Welsh legends) will be recounted with the aid of sound and light special effects.

Welsh National Museum:

For lovers of history and culture, the Welsh National Museum in Cardiff is hard to beat. Set in Cathays Park, the museum building is an impressive piece of architecture but it’s the contents housed within that will really capture the imagination. The museum houses a vast collection of art, as well as much of Wales’s national history and archeology collections.

Perhaps the standout collection, especially for those with kids, is the “Evolution of Wales” exhibit, which charts the story of the land mass now called Wales from the very beginning of time. As the museum’s website states “Find out how life evolved in Wales and which dinosaurs roamed the land.” The on-site Oriel restaurant means you can enjoy lunch during your visit and the fact that entry to the museum is free means your wallet won’t be emptied!
