if traveling in Afghanistan you don't have much of a choice as there are only two airlines both of which are not any good but as a travel you have no other choice. for the airlines itself I am surprised as to why they don't even try. try for better service for better staff, for better food, for cleaner seats...

Ariana Afghan Airlines have aircraft probably around 35 years old and it was plain to see and experience. It was the only airline that suited my schedule so I had to take the flight - certainly not by choice.

I flew from Kabul to Herat on Ariana Afghan Airlines, connecting from a Kam Air flight from Mazar. The slight annoyance is that for online bookings I have to go to the office to have my credit card verified by a staff before I can check in. Online bookings on Kam Air does not require this. About Ariana Afghan Airlines
Afghanistan's national carrier, Ariana Afghan Airlines (FG) is also the country's oldest airline. It operates from a primary hub at Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport (KBL) and a secondary hub at Kandahar International Airport (KDH). Ariana Afghan Airlines flies to four domestic destinations, as well as international destinations in Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kuwait, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Its fleet consists of Airbus A310-300, Airbus A320-200 and Boeing 737-400 planes with a mix of one-cabin (Economy Class) and two-cabin (Economy Class and Business Class) configurations.
