We had high expectations for our business class flight. We chose Singapore Airlines for its reputation and prior experience we had flying to and from Asia. Our experience this time was poor. Our SA experience was no better than a mediocre business class experience on any other mediocre airline. Beginning with the JFK lounge experience. We used the Air India lounge which is plain awful. It was very crowded, smelly, and the food and drink offering just plain terrible. We were better off and more comfortable outside the lounge. The boarding process for SA airlines was poor. None of the shouted announcements could be understood, causing confusion and delay. We had to wait 20 minutes on the jet ramp to board. Once on board, there was no provision of normal business class amenities. Cabin staff appeared to be harried and rushed. Food choices and quality were substandard for business class there was no breakfast choice on an overnight flight ( I don’t consider noodles and shrimp a breakfast meal).

Really bad service. Unfriendly service with zero respect on customer. When they made a mistake on my ticker, they never apologise.

The Singapore business class flight from Melbourne to London via Singapore is a no frills version of business class and definitely not worth the premium price I paid for the ticket. The food was average. My biggest criticism was the seating configuration. - the main reason I want to fly business on a long flight is to sleep. First of all you have to ask a flight attendant to set up the seat in bed mode i.e. you just can’t push a button and lie down. Then there is an awkward narrow part to put your feet in, which makes you have to awkwardly contort your body to sleep. I am tall and it was very uncomfortable. I was travelling with my husband and chose the middle seats but the seat design means it’s difficult to see your partner. Also no touch screen for movies but an awkward hand device and very limited selection of movies/tv. No pjs or amenity kits so you have to ask for toothpaste, eye masks, ear plugs. The service was friendly. A very ordinary version of business class.

Definitely not the business class experience of the past. I was used to a staff member introducing themselve as the person looking after me and offering things like amenities kits slippers etc not so now you have to ask and then you will be told later and sometimes you get what you ask for other times you don’t. Even things like drinks when they finally get around to it a glass of wine is a thimble full. Is SQ on a cost cutting spree their fares don’t reflect cheaper prices particularly with the Singapore dollar so high. It’s a pity SQ used to be my top pick but no longer the likes of Qatar are providing better hardware and service.

Singapore Airlines Suites Class is a very special product and has been on bucket list for years. I am glad I finally I got to experience it on my recent trip from Sydney to Singapore. The suite is a 50 feet personal cabin in the sky. With a separate armchair and bed. The champagne is on tap – Krug and Tattinger. The food was fantastic, especially the Lobster Thermidor, which while is available in Business class too, is still worth it even in First Class. The service was exceptional, I mean, the crew in Economy were already great, so the fact that you could feel a much more personable and elevated service in First, really is commendable. . The ‘Lalique’ branded amenity kit and PJs were high quality.
