Overview

Foreign menus can be daunting—especially in Japan. Take the stress out of translation by going on a walking food tour of Shibuya. Your guide will help you avoid tourist traps, and instead sample the hidden Tokyo food scene that locals love. You’ll try dishes such as Kobe beef skewers, sushi, and Japanese local drinks. A stress-free evening with no language barriers, as your guide will order for you.

What to Expect

One of the best ways to experience a new city is to eat your way around it. This walking food tour of Shibuya is a foodie’s dream. You’ll meet your guide at a pre-arranged spot near Shibuya station before escaping the usual tourist hotspots. You’ll avoid overpriced restaurants and instead go to the side street haunts that locals love. As you hop between eateries, you’ll try all sorts of local favorites, such as ‘takoyaki’ (octopus balls), Wagyu beef ‘yakitori’ (barbecue) skewers, ‘okonomiyaki’ (Japanese pancake) and lots of sushi. You’ll wash the delicious food down with ‘shochu’ (rice liquor) and Japanese beer. For those with a sweet tooth, there’s also dessert to try too.

As well as the side streets, you’ll get to see a ‘depachika’ (underground food hall)—another local favorite. This is a superb way to get a glimpse of Tokyo’s food culture from a local's perspective.
