The soil forms the uppermost part of the earth's crust and is the transition zone between rock and vegetation. This zone is only a few centimeters thick and is therefore in the background, but this does not do justice to its importance, because the processes that make it possible for plants to grow and food to be produced take place in the soil. We feed our goats the nutritious grasses and aromatic herbs of the Eifel meadows around our farm. We would be happy to introduce them to you personally - their very special charm will immediately cast a spell over you. From the stable to the milking parlor to the cheese dairy, we offer you an exclusive look behind the scenes from animal husbandry to cheese production. On top of that. This very clean Goat farm lets you see all the goats in the barn, plus it has a very cute Gift shop to buy goat cheese, spreads, sausages, mustards, vinegars, oils and the like. There is a window that lets you see the cheese-maker at work. The cashier was friendly and let us try some different spreads of goat cheese. I think they even had wine. What a treasure to be able to visit such a charming spot. They also have cute comical goats made of clay for purchase. Der Besuch vom Hofladen und die Hofführung haben mich beeindruckt ... nachhaltiges Konzept und tolle Produkte ... ein Käse leckerer wie der andere...ich komme wieder. Versprochen!!!

Bei echt scheußlichen Wetter haben wir eine Führung über den Ziegenhof mitgemacht und waren total begeistert. Die Ziegen sind in einem großen, sauberen Stall untergebracht und fühlen sich sichlich wohl. Es riecht auch nicht nach Ziege.
Das Anbebot im Hofladen ist eine Wucht. Da bei der Führung ein Probierteller includet war, konnten wir dann die Leckereien dort käuflich erwerben.
Sehr empfehlenswert.
Wir werden Ende des Jahres wieder ein paar Tage in der Eifel verbringen und zum Käsekauf wiederkommen

Unfortunately, the animals are only kept in boxes in the stable. The stable is quite dark.
It looks well-kept, but it is not a fair life for the goats.
If they eat hay, you can keep them outside in varied terrain, as is their nature.
As a visitor and buyer of the products, I would find that very convincing.
The cheese is very tasty and also attractively packaged. The sales talks were very friendly. It was only afterwards that I saw the large stable.

herzlichen Dank für Ihre Rückmeldung zu uns und unserem Hof.
Die Tiere werden nicht in "Boxen" sondern in einem großen Laufstall gehalten, in dem die Tiere sich in Gruppen frei bewegen können.
Sie haben auf unser Angebot der Hofführung eine Bewertung abgegeben. Darf ich fragen, ob Sie an dieser teilgenommen haben?
Dieses Thema wird nämlich in nahezu jeder Hofführung behandelt und wenn nicht, hätten Sie die Frage sehr gerne stellen können. Dafür bieten wir das Angebot ja an 😊
Um es kurz zu erklären:
Im Merkblatt der Tierärztlichen Vereinigung für
Tierschutz e.V. Ziegenhaltung Nr. 93, steht unter Punkt 9.2: „Ziegen fressen bevorzugt Laub. Auf der Weide wählen sie Kräuter und Klee aus. Eigentlich kann man nicht von „Grasen“ sprechen, denn Gras fressen Ziegen nur, wenn andere Pflanzen fast ganz vertilgt sind.“

Wir hatten zwischen 1961 & 1996 Milchkühe auf dem Hof, welche auch stets auf der Wiese waren.
Dies wollten wir mit unseren Ziegen fortführen hatten aber zahlreiche Probleme - aus Sicht der Ziege!
Darunter zählten:
Die Ziegen kamen hungrig von der Wiese zurück (vgl. oben)
Die Tiere hatten Probleme mit Parasiten
Die Tiere hatten Probleme mit den Klauen (wie Papierschnitte zwischen den Fingern)
Die Tiere hatten Probleme mit der Verdauung (teils lebensbedrohliche Verdauungsprobleme).
Wir haben auch mehrere Jahre lang versucht, mit dem Traktor "frisches Gras" von der Wiese direkt in den Stall zu holen um dieses zu füttern.
Das hat den Tieren aber wieder die Parasiten & die Verdauungsprobleme mit in den Stall gebracht, weshalb wir auch davon wieder Abstand genommen haben.
Nach Rücksprache mit zahlreichen Tierärzten, dem Ziegenzuchtverband und anderen Milchziegenhaltern kamen wir alle gemeinsam zum gleichen Schluss.
Für unsere Ziegen und vor allem: An unserem Standort ist die optimale Haltung für die Ziegen die ganzjährige Stallhaltung mit ganzjähriger Heufütterung.
Gerne können Sie ja mal eine Hofführung besuchen oder mich auch sehr gerne persönlich anrufen. Da können wir auch noch ausführlicher über dieses Thema sprechen.
