      Lots to Learn
Very informative tour on how cork is harvested in a sustainable way and used in many ways. The video at the beginning was pretty good. We were then broken into groups dependent on our language spoken. Angela was a good teacher but I had trouble focusing on her lecture at first because another lecture was next to us in a cavernous room in which speech echoed. I was almost ready to walk out as I could not hear what Angela was saying. I persisted, however, and am glad I did as the other group left after about 10 minutes. Very interesting how cork is graded and all the uses it has. I would recommend this tour to others but suggest that Eco-Cork find a way to not have two tours so closely booked that one detracts from the next one.

      Eco-Cork Factory Tour
The tour of the Eco-Cork Factory and Museum was a highlight of our recent visit to the Algarve. This was our third visit to the region and we wish we had done this tour earlier. Belinda, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and friendly and we learned more than we anticipated about this important Portuguese industry. Something for everyone, this experience included science, agriculture, history and artistic commentary. Truly a memorable experience! Anne & Helio Ola!

      Enjoyable and Informative
An amazing experience! A short film explained the harvesting and processing of cork, followed by a factory tour explaining in more detail the manufacturing process from raw material to finished product. Our guide, Angela, spoke perfect English. We'll never look at a cork in the same way again! A visit to the shop to purchase authentic products concluded a most enjoyable and informative experience. Highly recommend this tour and probably one we'll repeat when we have friends and family visiting.

      Well worth the time!
We really enjoyed visiting this facility and felt very welcomed. Although there were only two of us on our off-season tour in late November, Michelle and others took the time to pleasantly show us the facility and answer all of our questions. It was really nice to interact with some local area residents while learning about cork harvesting. I would recommend reserving this tour if you are in the area. And buy some nicely priced cork items in their gift shop while you are there.

      A must visit
Excellent experience, very talented tour guide with all the information one could want. We found it very interesting as cork can be used for many things, not just corks for bottles - go and find our you won’t be disappointed.

      Avoid
Booked tour and tasting thru TripAdvisor. Only a name of a place, the town and zip code were provided as the meeting point. Drove over an hour from my hotel only to drive around the area for 50 minutes trying to fine the tour. GPS led me to a dirt road only to drive in circles around an orange grove. Obvi just entering the town and zip takes you to the center of town. There were no signs and the phone number didn't work. I finally gave up. I'm especially disappointed in TripAdvisor for being so difficult to contact about a problem and refund.

Excellent tour once someone showed up to give it.
We were to start a tour 10 a.m. No one was around other than the workers in the factory. I called them and left a message. We finally left around 10:20 walking back towards town, as we had taken a taxi here. We finally received a call from a lovely lady who was surprised her co-worker wasn't there to give us the tour. She picked us up immediately and we had a great tour and learned a lot about the cork industry.

Very interesting visit to the factory. But the visit to the forest where the cork harvesting is performed beats all.

      Excellent cork tour!
Came to Portugal from Canada and toured the cork factory and a cork tree orchard. Sofia was very knowledgeable and took time to explain the whole process. We were able to tour the factory, and get a hands on look at the different traditional manufacturing of the cork, and the many applications that cork is applied to. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone!!!

      Amazing and information cork tour
Probably one of the most enthusiastic guides we have every had. The tour of the cork factory was really interesting, showing the types of cork and how it is prepared for different uses. We then visited the trees to see how the cork is harvested and how the trees belong to different people. Brilliant tour.

Good overview over the cork industry.
It is a very good, easy understandable overview over the cork industry. Shows also a video of the cork harvesting. Recommended is to book a trip to the cork factory and to the cork plantation.

      Cork Route
We met up with our guide Sofia at the Sao Bras Costume Museum, where the tour starts. After an interesting intro to the history of cork since Roman times, we went out to see the factory and how the cork is selected and processed. We loved the nice store on the first-floor of the factory, so many beautiful things are made of this amazing natural product: bags, hats, bracelets and even x-mas decorations! We finished the tour in an ancient cork oak plantation in the beautiful hills of São Bras, complete with red poppies and yellow spring flowers under the canopies of centenary trees. We learned how the cork has been harvested by the local men for centuries. We will always think about this tour next time we pop a bottle, Sofia!!

It is such a disappointment to start price is 15 minute late and end of 15 minutes early so we have a little bit about 45 minute tour when it should be 1 hour 10 minutes. Also the factory had no workers so there was no live demonstration of how cork is being made all it was is a walk through the factory of piles of cork. Even a short video would have been better.

information was good it was just not what the description is about and charging money for it. Big disappointment

Dear Span, your opinion is very important to improve our services. Sometimes our workers areno't laboring in the factory and doing exterior work. Our tours takes always 1 hour, sorry if the tour was less time , our normal procedure is always 1 hour or more. Thanks for your opinion, our best regards

Interesting to learn about the cycle of the cork tree plus the different end products. However, this factory only does a very limited part of the initial processing and at the time of our visit no workers were there, just the guide walking us around. No real activity ongoing, but somewhat interesting anyhow.

Dear Mr/Mrs Pierre, we want to apreciate your opinion, is very important to us. Our factory is always operating but in diferent positions in diferent seasons. When the workers are not laboring inside the factory our guides show and explain all the work from our workers. Our Best Regards

Fair price for walking around a hot warehouse. The tour guide was knowledgeable but it was hard to hear as the group was quite large. We’re glad we learned about the cork but the tour was underwhelming, gift shop had very little merchandise. We were not able to go and see a real cork tree or demonstration of the removal of cork from the tree.

Booking process was not smooth, never received tickets confirming my reservation. I was allowed entry. Tour was okay, large group, hard to hear the guide at times. Learned about the process involved making products from cork bark.

Very interesting on the history of Cork and pre production. Not really a factory more of a warehouse and initial processing and manual grading. The palletised cork is then shipped out to factories for conversion to finished items. All the grades and uses were explained in some detail

I knew nothing about cork but learned a great amount from the knowledgeable and funny host who is part of the family. We learned about the cork trees, how often the bark can be removed (9 years)), how it is boiled, how many things besides corks it can be made into such as fabric, book covers, purses, and so many others.
