- petermF1146VX0 contributionsGetting into the 'Spirit' of South GoaTucked away on the outskirts of Veroda some 6km east of Cuncolim in South Goa this distillary tour is not to be missed. The tour consists of an overview of the business, tour of the distillary floor, a visit to the barrel warehouse and then the all important sampling room. Our host Jagannath gave a superb active presentation of how whisky is made, the intricacies of the distilling process and the care and control taken when barrelling the product. He then presented the individual whiskies. Jagannath answered all questions, displayed a great sense of humour and gave information and advice beyond the scope of the visit about places to eat and visit in the local area. There are a number of different sampling packages available we paid £10 a head to sample 6 different whiskies and were totally satisfied. The tour, however, comes with one small warning - you may experience some difficulty walking out! Ps. You might be best advised to take a taxi or tuk tuk, self-drive is not advised.Written September 18, 2024

Later was given a educational tour inside the factory on various stages on Making Whiskey. Learnt something new.Written March 5, 2021
- RVBhide0 contributionsExcellent induction to “the Single Malt” !On the recommendation of our hotel manager, we ventured to the distillery with certain expectations. Though located in an industrial estate, the management has taken great pains to transport you into a different world from the entrance gate itself !! Entering the toe centre gives you a walk down memory Lane to a Portuguese setting. Modestly boasting of its achievements on the world stage, Paul John Distillery promises to give you a great time. The introduction / video to single malt making is excellent - followed by the very informative tour of the distillery. The high point of the visit is the whiskey tasting session & one has a choice to make of three or five whiskey samples !! It’s great fun and very well conducted by super friendly staff ! Well done John Paul owners ! You’re making us Indians proud !!Written November 20, 2020
- aseemandannu0 contributionsSingle Malt FactoryDefinitely worth the visit. Very nicely conducted. The visitors lounge is very nice & well decorated. For Whisky lovers its a must do in Goa. Includes a tasting session also.Written October 23, 2020
- Mihir2820140 contributionsRevelation of a DistilleryWow. We just took a chance, to visit as it was close to our place. We had inhibition of whether an Indian Whisky distillery is gonna be worth visiting! Guess what, it's been rated one of the top 10 more then one time and has got multiple awards and recognition. So we went for a proper download and tasting session. The guide was young and great and passionate about how their journey was. It's fully loaded with best if original copper equipment, distillery, educative session and a tasting room. Sorry to say that there is no bar here so you cant plan to hang around here. Best revelation was that it's one of the fee whiskey which is made from barley, wheat and not blended or mix of some iter whiskey. And that was amazing to know. Apparently worlds top 7 most sold whiskeys are Indian brands but not all of them strictly follow the standard of authentic whiskey. As an Indian it was indeed a proud moment. I have now evolved to drink only original whiskey and not blended or rums calling themselves whiskey:-) if u wanna know more, visit it!Written April 26, 2020
- mala b0 contributionsDistillery Trip and TastingBeautiful space with an Indo Portuguese feel. We saw the process and the casks of golden brew. Very clean and superbly organised. They know their stuff. The AV shows you the short long history of Paul John. The tasting session was divine and that’s when it hit me that this distillery is doing a great job. You cannot make purchases here but you can ask where from. Plan 90 - 120 minutes for the tour. This is in South Goa and we drove from Candolim. That was 2 straight hours and some lousy roads. Fully worth the bumpy ride.Written March 8, 2020
- JohnT77740 contributionsHighly recommendedWe visited this centre today with friends. If you are interested in Whisky, how it's made here and the special processes that Paul John employ to bring you their special product, then this is for you. The tours last for one hour and provide a great insight into the development and success of this distillery. Our guide was Santana Seethamma who was very informative, helpful, encouraging and a wonderful asset to this company. The tour ends with a fine single malt whisky tasting, for those that wish to take part, of a very fine whisky and an excellent accolade to all involved. Highly recommended.Written March 3, 2020
- Kpsingh1110 contributionsWonderful single maltCalled the distillery a day before. Reached in the morning. Registration was quick. The tour was quite interesting and informative. The whisky is awesome. The only drawback is that they don't sell their products on site.Written January 16, 2020
- charlieallen660 contributionsHello Scotch Whisky - Paul John is coming for you!!OK, so I have to declare an interest here. I worked in the Scotch Whisky Industry for nearly 20 years so I like to think I know a bit about this stuff. In my time working on Scotch I was marketing the heritage, authenticity and provenance of Scotch Whisky while looking over my shoulder at the international whiskies coming up fast on the rails - particularly Japanese Whisky and increasingly their Indian counterparts. John Paul Malt Whisky has only been going since 1992, so in that context their achievements in under 30 years are incredible. Here’s the thing - most people determine the quality of whisky by either it’s age or it’s price. Spoiler alert - these are not the determining factors of a good whisky. The secret is in the production of a consistently high spirit and the casks and conditions in which you mature it. Here in Goa the casks are lounging around in average temperatures in the low 30 degrees C. Walking around this facility you can almost hear the turbo-charge that this gives the maturing spirit. In Scotland it takes 10+ years to produce some fine Malt whiskies because the weather is so rubbish. Here they get that kind of quality in 4. And boy do these whiskies deliver - and the international awards lining the walls back this up. Sadly the local regulations dictate that they can’t market this experience as a distillery tour - and they could probably do more in promoting it with hotel concierges. But when you do discovery it, and get there it is well worth it. The tour is delivered in an excellent way and the distillery is working flat out as you walk around. The tour ends with a 3 or 5 malt whisky tasting of their different expressions. Unfortunately, again, you can’t buy from the distillery shop but a bottle will certainly be in my case by the time I go home, and I will be singing it’s praises. We hired bikes from our hotel and rode there through the small villages which made for a great morning of activity. Well worth it.Written December 31, 2019

- TtuZorro0 contributionsExcellent ExperienceWe visited the Paul John distillery on the 30th November 2019. The site tour and whisky tasting was hosted by the very knowlegable Sinchana Seethamma. This young lady presented with enthusiastic passion. We all left with a detail appreciation of the whisky production process along with a greater appreciation of the Oaul John brands. Thank you Sinchana. Would strongly recommend fellow visitors to Goa to take in the experience.Written December 8, 2019

It was a great experience to visit the single Indian malt creators at best. The tour guy was exceptional in explaining nuances of the whiskey creation, learnt a lot about different alcohol in the tasting session. Must visit for the newbies who have interest in single malts. I also got to visit down cellar below which has different casks from jack daniel to Portuguese cask. Keep going Paul john

Disclaimer: I was an employee with the parent company of this center till 2014.
For me personally, the transformation of the place from a impersonal rundown factory into one of the best Single Malt Whisky experience centers in the country is amazing.
The place is out of the way.. South in a North obsessed Goa and well away from the beaches and cities/towns. It also doesn't offer anything to munch and these are the only 2 negatives I can think of.
It is surrounded by industries and comes across like a lush green oasis in the middle of an industrial estate. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with knowledgeable and passionate guides to take one through the experience. The place has an amazing vibe that just begs one to sit down and enjoy a drink with a buddy.
The whisky is in its own class and there's enough written about it online that nothing needs to be added here.

If you are a single malt lover, you can’t skip it. Friendly and courteous staff. You must take a tour which also involves tasting of their flagship single malts, there are three packages 300, 600 and 1k. Under 1k package you will get to taste 5 of their single malts. And that’s worth the visit.

I must complement the company for informative tour, explaining the science and art of whisky making. The tour culminated with a tasting session which introduced me to the subtle art of whisky drinking. I must complement Bhavish and Jaggannath for making this a experience to remember. Thanks. Highly recommended

Great experience. It is a classy place where the visitor center itself gives the first and best impression. Before going here we need to book on the website. I booked on Saturday evening and on Sunday I got a call from them giving me advise on how to reach the center and best time to visit etc., I booked for the 3 pm slot.
On reaching the place Mr. Bhavish was there to welcome us along with his team. After initial introduction we waited for few more guests to join then the tour started. First a Video presentation and then the single malt distillery visit. Very interesting and informative.
After that there is tasting session where you can taste 5 varieties of Single malt. The presentation and explanations given by Bhavish was the high light. He was very energetic and his presentation made the trip lively. We can buy Single malt and other whiskies produced by John Distillary here. Bought one also. All in all a good start to our Goa visit.

After visiting distilleries in Scotland, I thought we must experience the one in our backyard. Since number of visitors were few, there was lot of freedom to spend enough time at different stages of production and ask questions. The tasting was also leisurely with detailed explanations. All the whiskeys we tasted were quite good. My favorite was Edited.
Website shows time as 11 to 4, but the tours starts at 11, 1 and 3. This is nowhere mentioned on the website. So we had to wait almost 1 hour for the tour. When I told the manager that they should indicate timings of tour on website, he started lecturing me that I should have called before coming. This is not mentioned on the website.
I suggest the properietors to update their website to indicate tour timings and train the manager to be more customer friendly and open for suggestions.
Apart from this visit was nice.

Good - pretty informative. Tour guide did know his stuff. Whisky tasting was the icing
Bad/Needs Improvement - the overall experience needs to be improved. The visitors should be left wanting more.
AV to be more immersive
Tour should be more interactive rather than one way communication from the guide.
Overall - great effort to begin with!!! Kudos to the team

Desperately wanted to visit one of our own distilleries being a big whisky drinker. This one was located within a 20 min drive from the Radisson property at Cavelossim where we were staying, so had no excuse not to go.
Glad we did. Bhavesh & Alistair made our girls trip a memorable one. Although my Whisky knowledge is not bad, I got some further information which was great.
The property is located in the middle of nowhere but easily assessible by car. The welcome lounge, the shop and the tasting room are all placed in an amazing house. Very tastefully decorated and cleanliness is outstanding. I am very fussy about restrooms, I was impressed.
The tour lasted about an hour or so and we all left feeling we had some good fun including the tasting session which allowed us to experience not just some of their range but also how Whisky tastes, smells & feels while drinking and post drinking. I liked their Bold and their Brilliance range. Alistair is a brilliant guide and very knowledgeable.
There is so much more to Goa than just run of the mill activities that most tourists/holiday makers go for. Our visit to Paul Johns was one of those unique experiences I believe all should experience, even if you don't drink.
P.s: I was pleasantly surprised to know that The Big Banyan range of wines came from Paul John group. I tasted their red while staying at The Kumarkom Lake Resort, Kerala and in my opinion was the best in India that I have had.

A great place to see what goes into your single malt. The tour is pretty informative for the patrons and the facility is nice. Our tour guide though seemed informed however was pretty impatient with the group, which was kind of a put-off (else could have been a 5 star experience). Apart from that it was great to go around and see various processes, right from extracting the sugars out of barley to maturing in casks and then finally sipping it during the tasting session. Great and beautifully decorated place, with tastefully selected souvenirs.

Great tour. Impressive surroundings. The tour started with how the brand started. Then moved on to what makes a whisky. We were shown the distillery and the various processes in fermenting, distilling, barrelling and bottling. We then did a five tastings of their whisky - the manufactoring and barrelling process differed slightly between them which causes a big change in their taste and smoothness. Tour with tasting and gazing at the gift shop takes about 2 hours. Very interesting tour. I would recommend it. A premium tour IMHO
