      Once in a lifetime experience!
We arrived a bit early for our tour, but the directions for parking and how to get to the office were perfect. We were greeted by an enthusiastic, incredibly funny group of guides in the office, and they helped us get set up for the tour. Our group was small, with only 3 couples plus the guide, and we navigated to a couple of other caves first. The coastline is stunning, and the water was calm enough to make paddling relatively easy. The Benagil cave (or, “algar” as our guide taught us) is stunning, and by doing the early morning tour, we were some of the only people in the cave. We were a bit surprised at how much time we had in the cave (at least 30 minutes), and it was nice to contemplate and get plenty of pictures. Highly recommend Secret Algarve and this tour; it was one of the highlights of our trip!

Great company & Guides- 5 stars!
Highly recommend this company: safe, friendly, knowledgable. They really aim to please and give you a great experience. We had to change the time Of our trip last minute and they were completely flexible. Our guide Manuel was wonderful. He showed us lots pf cool other caves as well, checked on on everyone in the group (14 people total in 7 kayaks) making sure everyone was ok, enjoying it, taking photos for people, etc). They have waterproof bags to keep your phone etc safe on your kayak too.

      Breathtaking
We had an amazing trip with Secret Algarve. It was the highlight of our trip. It was awesome to experience the cliffs from that vantage point. Our tour guide, Pacho (I believe was his name) was spectacular. He was extremely friendly, charismatic and very smart and informative. He really made our trip that much more enjoyable. We had a small child with us and he made sure that he was safe along the way. A must do trip if you’re in the Algarve!

Wake up and kayak to Benagil Cave!
I had the best experience exploring the Algarve! I did the sunrise kayak tour and it paid off! The sunrise was beautiful and there were hardly any people besides my group. My tour guy was phenomenal on giving us the history of the cave and being patient. Overall 10/10 I totally recommend! -Cassandra R

Wonderful experience - Elephant Rock better than Bengali cave!
Excellent experience. I know many people go because of Benagil cave, but our favorite part was the time we spent kayaking in and around Elephant Rock.

      Awesome kayak trip!
We did the Jeranto 4 hour kayaking tour as a family of 4 and it was amazing. Luca was very knowledgeable, enjoyable, and ensured that we were safe at all times. He took us to a couple of beautiful beaches and some very interesting caves including a small private blue grotto experience where we could have a swim. He took the time to give us his own personal reflections on the area which added to the experience of the trip. We all thoroughly enjoyed this and it was a big highlight of our time on the Amalfi coast.

Worth the early wake up and experienced guides
My husband and I took our 4 and 6 year olds on the 7 am kayak trip. The ocean waves were a little rough but our guide was amazing at instructing and making sure we navigated the take offs and landings smoothly. We loved having the cave almost completely to ourselves and loved that we always felt safe, especially since we had young kids with us. The waves were too big for us to be able to visit the other caves on the trip but we were happy to see Benagil without the crowds. Highly recommend!

Best way to see the Benagil Cave!
The kayak tour is the best way to not only see the Benagil cave but other caves along the coast as well. This is the only way to get on the beach in the cave and visit other remote beaches as well. Our tour guide was the best and made the whole experience worthwhile. He was entertaining and also made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. He also had great photography skills! You don't need to have prior kayaking experience as you will quickly get the hang of it. I highly recommend this experience!

      10/10 - you won’t regret it!
What an incredible experience from start to finish! Our guides were professional, knowledgeable, humorous, and kind. We did the sunrise tour, and there were 2 separate kayaking groups out at a similar time. Our guide took us to a separate smaller cave first, and planned it perfectly so that we entered Benagil cave just as the other groups were leaving. We had the cave nearly to ourselves! They helped take our photos and shared interesting history about the cave. 10/10 - a perfect and unforgettable experience!

      Great tour, great guides
We had a great time! Pedro was an amazing guide! He did his best to make sure everyone got what they wanted out of the tour and had a good experience. Would recommend going during early or mid-summer as it was a little chilly when we went in mid-May.

The tour was very busy (around 20 people on kayaks) in a very busy location. This made the actual kayaking very slow with a lot of queueing to get into the caves. The tour guides that were with us were giving some information about what we were seeing but this was so quiet that we did not hear a thing. In terms of the tour itself, there was not that much to see. Some of the caves we visited were quite dark and very narrow so you could not really see anything or spend much time there, which makes me wonder why go in them in the first place. As for the main Benagil cave, this was more lit up and had more space and we did stop there. In contrast to the previous locations, we spent around 30-45 minutes here, which is a lot for a place that does not have more to offer than a few photos. Furthermore, this place gets visited with multiple boats and kayakers so is extremely busy and feels something like a supermarket.

If I have to think of something positive to say about the experience, the actual kayaking in sea with waves was quite interesting, having only done this in rivers before (if you are not prone to sea-sickness, of course!).

I don't mean to sound harsh but the tour, in my opinion, is suited for a few photos for you social media accounts but not much more. You pay quite a lot of money for a very basic experience in a very busy setting (definitely not something worth the name "Secret Algarve")

We did the 8:30 am Benagil Kayak Experience trip. This is a great way to experience the rock formations and caves of the Algarve. While this is a super popular destination with tons of kayaks and sightseeing boats the early morning trips are a little less crowded. If you really want to avoid the crowds try their sunrise trip. The Benagil algar, a large cave with a hole in the top, is less than a 5 minute paddle from Benagil beach. It’s an impressive sight. They spend about 30 minutes at the algar which is about 15 minutes too long but it does give everyone a chance to get all the photos they want. After the algar we continued down the coast and entered 3 more caves, 2 were a short loop and 1 was a short out and back. We also took a quick spin through some beautiful formations down the coast.
We were a total of 20 guests in 10 double kayaks with 3 guides. There were also other groups in the area as well as sightseeing boats. One of guides, Marcel, told me that it’s even more crowded in the afternoons with tons of boat traffic. The sit-on-top kayaks are super stable. You get in and out on the sand and the guides push you into the sea and pull you out. The algar de Benagil is the only place you get out other than back on the Benagil beach where the tour starts.
This is easy kayaking with generally calm seas. Secret Algarve does a safety and instructional talk before you head down to the beach and outfits you with life jackets and dry sacks. They also have storage lockers for any valuables you don’t want to take on the kayak. You can leave your shoes in a bucket at the beach and do the trip barefoot. You do get wet on this trip so plan accordingly. The temperature in early September was perfect in the morning. I was not too cold or too hot wearing a long sleeve sun shirt. We spent 1.5 to 2 hours on the water.

We absolutely loved our experience with Secret Algarve! We are a family of 5x and our guides were super fun and made us feel safe and relaxed the entire time, from launch to the caves and upon return. Our 13 year old was given a kayak of her own and she handled it great under their guidance. Communication was also great before the asventure. We would definitely recommend this company and would love to do it again!

We booked the tour in advance and the 1hr each way transfer to Benagil, so it wasnt a cheap day out. When we arrived the owner asked if we could come back another day as we had kids with us and the sea was very choppy, unfortunately due to the cost involved and time taken to travel to Benagil, this wasn't an option, but had he have made contact with us, even earlier that day, we could have rearranged, so maybe thats something the business could consider for future when sea conditions are rough. Fortunately we all have kayak experience so were able to participate confidently.

The sea was very rough and so we didnt get into see any other caves except the Benagil, but I appreciate the guides making that decision as it showed that keeping everyone safe was paramount. We got to spend around 1 hour inside Benagil and the guides told us about the history of the cave and the new algar which has started forming. It was a wonderful experience.

The kayaks were of decent quality and sea worthy, however a seat was only provided if you had back problems- I wrongly assumed they would all have seats and in hindsight would have asked for one. Would recommend asking for a seat if you have a weak core ( new mums/ stomach surgery etc)

Overall experience was very good, the 2 guides were competent, funny and informative and were able to speak in 4 ( I think) other languages on the trip to the other participants. The kayaks allow you to actually go in and land of the beach inside the cave, and that was very special - if you go on a boat tour, the boats just nose into the cave for around 30seconds and reverse back out, barely time to snap a great picture :(

The guides made sure everyone was comfortable and safe before we hit the water. They had a great sense of knowledge and excitement as they shared the stories of the caves and area, making the tour quite enjoyable! We had some pretty rough seas, but they ensured we entered & exited the caves safely and got back ashore- which was pretty tricky with the swells. Highly recommend this tour!! Would definitely use them again :)

We signed up to do the early morning sunrise kayak tour to the Benagil caves with secret algarve and so glad we did. The tour was amazing! We got into the sea at about 7am, and were able to watch the beautiful sunrise. The sea was really calm and I highly recommend the sunrise tour if you want space to move. At about 11am the beach and sea were packed with boats and tours all heading to the cave, however our group had it all to ourselves. The tour guides were soooo lovely, friendly and smiley. They told us lots of facts as we went around the different caves and made everyone feel comfortable and safe. Thanks so much to the 3 of them, you were amazing. The tour was the highlight of our holiday :)

A fun unique way to see the topography of the coast for the full experience (which the hiking does not offer) . The kayaks go in and out of many caves/tunnels, and the group does a beach landing in the big cave.

Pros: Organized, equipment in good shape, professional, safe, friendly staff, good English. Good exercise but not TOO much. You do not really need prior experience. - Most kayaks are two-man. The staff will offer the use of a 'dry sack' for cameras, and to put layers of clothes when kayaking (everything will get splashed/wet otherwise!)

Suggestion: Go for the 8:30 a.m. tour because everything is better. There are far fewer people/crowds, and there were no other boats when we started. By 10:30 a.m., it was busier, windier and choppier water. The parking lot was also full by 10:30 a.m. (but empty at 8:15 a.m.).

Be Prepared: Your legs and butt WILL get (very) wet. We saw some kayaker in street clothes, and unless they had another set of dry clothes, they will be in for a surprise. Shoes are not important since they are taken off before getting on to the open pit kayaks (and kept safe by the staff). At 8:30 a.m.. the air is cool so wear an extra layer, and take it off when warm (and put it in the dry sack, which they offer free of charge). No place to change into dry clothes after, so we did so behind our car in the parking lot!?!

Not so good for young children

Awesome! The main guide was funny, personable, and energetic. The tour was fun and informative. We stopped at the cave with the algar first and stayed for about 30 minutes. Then we paddled to several different caves along the shore line. Seeing the shoreline by kayak is definitely the way to go. You can get up close and you aren’t crammed into a tiny boat with a bunch of other people. Also kayaking is friendly to the local environment. Secret Algarve doesn’t used any motorized boats at all; they launch their kayaks directly from the beach near the cave, and their office is just up the hill.

I highly recommend going through Secret Algarve for your kayak tour. I’d also recommend going first thing in the morning when the water is calmest and there are the fewest people.

After the tour the three guides gave us all sorts of information about local spots to check out that weren’t tourist spots. Great tour and great guides. Would definitely do again!

We had a great time looking at some caves and Algarves. The team is really giving their best to make the trip into an unforgettable experience. They also try to accommodate everybody's needs. For example I cut my finger the day before and they helped me with Bandages and constantly asked if i was feeling alright.
If you are planning to do a kayaking tour I highly recommend booking with Secret Algarve!!!
    Special thanks to Mike!

Me and my boyfriend went on a 2 hours trip to see some of the caves in Benagil.
We were kayaking with a group of thee other persons and a family of 3. So the amount of people was just perfect. During the tour, our guide Edgar had a lot to tell about the surroundings and about the history of the caves which we thought was super interesting! Additionally he was very polite and patient with each of us and relaxed during the whole time! In the main attraction, the “Benagil” cave we were able to rest for about 20/30 minutes and could to take some pictures which is always good. :) We even had our own special photographer Edgar who offered to take some pictures of us and explained us where the best spots to take pictures are. :)
All in all it was a very nice tour and we really recommend visiting the caves by kayak.
    Until next time!
