Itinerary
- 1On the hour we invite you to board our transfer vessel the Ocean Quest, which will take you to the submarine. Sit back and enjoy the brief boat ride to the Atlantis dive site along the scenic coastline, as the professional crew welcomes you and gives a safety briefing. The vessels tie up alongside each other and you make the easy transfer from the Ocean Quest to the Atlantis Submarine. After securing the hatches and being seated in the air-conditioned comfort, the call is made to: “Dive! Dive! Dive!” You are now fully submerged in the aquamarine Caribbean Sea with large viewports all around, as curious exotic fish peek in at you and sea fans sway. This unique “must-do” undersea voyage, can take you to a shipwreck and to depths of 150 feet, which in the past has been reserved only for scuba divers. A knowledgeable co-pilot narrates the 40 minute underwater adventure and will help you to identify the amazing sights on the other side of your window.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- mkazmercyk0 contributionsJust okay, shorter then expectedTotally fine, nothing crazy special. Nice helpful staff and guides. It’s advertised as 2 hours but the actual time in the sub is 45 mins. The boat trip there, checkin, etc and trip back is decently long. We asked the shop attendees if we could bring the beer we bought there onboard and they said yes and they have rum and snacks and then 2 minutes before arrival on the boat they said no drinks and we had to dump them. Didn’t see much more than we didn’t snorkeling but was still a cool experience to be down deep.Written November 28, 2024
- susanharrhy0 contributionsWish we had gone in the day timeAll the fish had gone to bed!!,we saw very few,bit of a disappointment, was fascinating though seeing the placton shining in the darkness,Jordan our host was very knowledgeable and funny,a credit to the company, everyone was very attentive and politeWritten March 24, 2024
- nkengel20240 contributionsSuperb, must do it again! It was a thrilling experience, perfect for water-lovers and ocean explorers. The staff is professional and attentive, and the captain’s jokes were hitting. An experience that I’ll recommend to both locals and tourists.Written January 31, 2024
- 6rossy0 contributionsExpectations were exceededFrom the check in, to the ride to the submarine, to the safety instructions, to the comedic commentary, to the under water scenery, this was professionally orchestrated and exceeded our expectations.Written January 22, 2024
- nobster666Cardiff0 contributionsWell worth doingBetter to do a night trip I’m told and we had a fun time. Lots of fish to see, turtles and a shipwreck. The submariners/ guides are fun and entertaining. Don’t bother with the premium boarding. I don’t feel we were at any advantage to the rest of the group.Written January 21, 2024
- Sabrina J0 contributionsWhat an amazing adventure!I have to admit I was a bit nervous to go on the submarine, but it was absolutely brilliant. Our guide on the PA had some hilarious yet informative chat on everything we saw. We were lucky enough to sit right behind the Captain (very jealous of his job!) What a view out of the windows - ship wreck, coral reef, fish, fish and more fish. I 100% recommend! Went with my 8 year old son at the end of our cruise, wonderful way to spend the last morning as we had to be out of our cabin, so great entertainment while waiting to go to the airport for our flight home. My son already thought he had been on a submarine (anyone who has been to Legoland UK will understand why 😂). We went down to 140ft in Barbados though, thrilling!Written January 7, 2024
- JackoGoesDiving0 contributionsExciting, fun adventure!I wasn't sure about booking this at first as I thought it was for children and maybe just a glorified glass bottomed boat, maybe descending only a few metres (I should have read the website!). A couple in our hotel booked it and were raving about it so we immediately booked the night dive. The max depth of the sub tour is 150ft. It's amazing! We are scuba divers and still found this experience to be very exciting. The guide was humorous and informative. We actually learned a few things. I definitely recommend the night tour (there were no children). Plenty of fish life to see & soft corals. Plus a small wreck. Brilliant fun!Written January 6, 2024
- ileanab5280 contributionsAmazing experience!Amazing. Good guides! Beautiful experience and safe, which is important. People at the port was very nice and guided to the ferry and then the submarine. Explanations inside the submarine were excellent and music as well!Written November 4, 2023
- lora481850 contributionsNight vs day? Just okay. Our overall experience was just okay. The night trip first mate and commentator was entertaining. We didn't see much sea life, not sure if we would see more during the day or not. Part of the appeal of the night trip was the addition of the food and beverage during the ride back to port. The f/b was very disappointing. It was not well organized. The one hostess could have used some help. She was single-handedly trying to serve 35-40 guests during the short boat ride back to port. Most guests didn't get any beverage and some didn't get food. The four tatertot- sized fish bites we got for the two of us were cold. We would give it another try, for a day trip.Written June 13, 2023

- Adventure237069592710 contributionsAtlantis Night Tour No Value for moneyIt was disappointing not much to see, there were a few fish, the submarine lights was not adequate not value for money. The day tour I heard was spectacular suggestion either reduce price of night your or scrap it altogether.Written March 31, 2023
- joancX9744FS0 contributionsDive and seeA rare opportunity to see the sea bed up close. We saw fish and a turtle and it’s light and airy even though it’s a submarine . A really novel experience and easy way to see the underwater world.Written February 17, 2023
- BoardingPass4182350 contributionsOkay experience, but scuba diving is betterQuite average if you’ve ever scuba or snorkeled before. Cool to be in a submarine for the sake of it, but not worth it for the marine life experience itself. Seen and gotten closer to more fish and marine life while snorkeling reefs. We went on the night tour, but didn’t really see any nocturnal animal life. Only semi-interesting was when they turned off all lights and we could experience how pitch black it really was, and we then saw some of the luminescent algae. Other than that I think the day trip is just as good as the night one, maybe better too. The commentary was also quite difficult to hear with a fair bit of “noise” from the speakers, and not the most scientific content when commenting fish/animal life. Altogether, a fair enough trip if you wanna see how life below sea level are, and scuba diving/ taking some dives while snorkeling is not for you.Written February 15, 2023
- Barb M0 contributionsUnderwater Adventure AwaitsHave been coming to Barbados for years and finally took the “plunge”. Atlantis Submarine gives you what you pay for. An underwater experience that you would only accomplish if you dive. I’ve seen the pictures of the corral and fish as my husband is a diver. To see it first hand was breathtaking. The actual submarine portion is only about 30 minutes long (whole trip 2 hours). The sub as one may imagine has limited space and the seats are placed to have maximum capacity. Larger bodies (275+) may find it a tad uncomfortable, but then the ride is short so it’s not unbearable. The grandson loved picking out the different types of coral and fish. For him the ride was unforgettable and the captain was gracious enough to let him have a photo at the end. Remember, you do have to ferry out to the sub, so if you don’t have your sea legs and the waters are rough… well you get it.. sick bags await. The staff were amazing and I would recommend you do this tour at least once.Written February 8, 2023

Great experience! We really enjoyed it. Our confidence in the crew could not have been greater They (crew) were professional and did what was necessary to ensure a safe and memorable experience for us all. The event started on time whereby they quickly took us out to the submarine. We saw various species of fish and a myriad of soft and hard coral formations. We strongly recommend the "Atlantic Submarine Day Tour"

First we must really start by thanking the wonderful Charlotte Moore at Atlantis Submarines. As we booked direct, dealing with staff like Charlotte makes the reservation, booking and any questions you may have easy.
We chose the pick up from our hotel option. At $10 USD per person return, this is great value and I'd very much recommend it.
The short boat ride to the submarine doesn't take long and is entertaining with both safety procedures and tied and tested jokes. You enter the submarine by climbing down the stairs backward so make sure you have sensible shoes on.
The actual trip lasted around an hour and we travelled down to 141 feet below sea level. Visibility isn't crystal clear through the portholes, but it doesn't matter - you're in a submarine 141 feet below! There's not that many places you can do that in the world; it's such a privilege to be there when you think about it.
I did wonder if it was going to be cold down there, but it wasn't. It's fine to wear the clothes that you see others wearing in photos onboard.
If your budget allows, I would very much recommend this amazing experience. After all, unless you're a submariner, It's not the sort of thing you do everyday!!

Absolutely brilliant trip!!! Myself and 3 friends chose to do this trip whilst our other 2 friends went diving. It didn't disappoint!! If you're not a diver, this is a fantastic option to see the sea life. The guys do a running, informative and funny commentary throughout the dive which is approximately 40mins. They discuss history and the different fish etc visible through the portholes. There is also a commemorative 'Submariner' certificate for each passenger!! In all, money well spent!!!

Me and my friends went and we had such an amazing time. Our Tour guide Xario ensured that he informed us and give us the facts about the creatures of the water while also lighting up the mood as we dived deeper into the ocean with the help of Franz our amazing pilot. 10/10

Such an exciting experience. I cannot swim, so would never be able to go underwater without being in a sub, and this was a fantastic way of seeing a world I'd not normally be able to see. It was actually recommended to me by someone who'd done it before, and it was worth every penny. The sub operator was funny and entertaining, the water was so blue, the coral reef and fish were so beautiful. Im not going to mention anymore so i don't spoil it, but it was truly magical. I totally recommend it.

we loved the entire experience, despite our usual cynicism about such obvious tourist activities. The booking experience on line ahead of arriving in Barbados was a bit tortuous in Covid times, as they quite properly require evidence of vaccination, etc, but once there, the staff were friendly and helpful. The trip out of the harbour on a boat was easily managed and the transfer, at sea, into the sub was much less precarious than it sounds. The time in the sub flew by, with an interesting commentary by a guide, which would have been enhanced had the sound system been better and his speech a bit clearer, but the sights we saw were fascinating. These included huge shoals of fish right up to the windows of the sub, a sunken wreck, the sea bed and the amazing coral reef. The sub itself was cool, air-conditioned, with comfortable seats and not at all claustrophobic as I'd feared, with crystal clear portholes enabling clear vision of everything. We went down to 140 feet without feeling any difference inside the sub but enabling us to see much which one would never see unless a professional diver. The children and adults on board all loved it too. Recommended.

Thank you Sue for your recommendation and extensive and detailed feedback. Mother Nature is constantly changing what we see on each trip and I am so happy you were able to see an abundance of fish as you described.
Your encouraging words mean a lot to us especially as we celebrate 35 years in Barbados, this month. Thank you very much including for the matters we need to imorive on.

Visited through suntours. When got to the office we were asked to wait outside a small gift shop and when the previous person come out was allowed in to pay. Some people didn't listen so took a lot longer to pay so we could board. They take you out on a boat to the submarine and then tie the boat to the submarine and you walk across while out at sea. It is safe but the boat is rocking a little, my wife felt sea sick when she first got in the submarine and never has on a boat so be aware if you do get sea sick. Some people paid extra and got to sit at the front of the sub. We then went out to some reefs, the fish we saw we great and were loads of them but the only let down for me was the length of the tour, we wasn't out for very long and were then attached back to the boat and then after we boarded the boat took us and the still attached sub back to the harbour. The staff were great and is definitely an experience worth doing. The reef was better than the pictures show.

A must do when visiting Barbados afterall when else can you get the chance to go in a submarine. The staff were brilliant from beginning to the end of the trip making it fun with lots of jokes and relevant music - although the theme from Titanic when we were going under made us think! They even sung happy birthday to my partner and another birthdayboy on board which made it really special.

Great experience on the submarine. Excellent close views of the seabed, fish, shipwreck etc. Plenty of space inside with air conditioning. Great for adults and children. Price was quoted as starting from $99 Bajan but actually was around $390 Bajan for two people. They forgot to pick us up so we had to rush there in a taxi, return minibus was grubby inside with no aircon.

Thank you for taking the time to give your review.Happy that your submarine experience was great. The $99 is US currency and the $390 BDS equals to US 195 for 2.
We're sorry about the inconvenience with the transportation. We will surely rectify any issues for the entire experience to be pleasant for everyone.
Do take care and we hope to welcome you on the Night experience.

Ved ankomst Barbados 13 april og avreise 17 april, vil det da være mulig å ta denne Submarine? Det vil jo da ikke være mulig å ta covid test 5 dager før, som da vil bli 12 april?
Written November 2, 2021
They let you use the negative COVID test certificate you show to enter the country 5days after arrival, so you. Should be fine
Written November 4, 2021
Greetings, Is there social distancing on board?
Thanks
Written November 2, 2021
Hi Rhonda, the is answer is definitely yes, one of the most safest trips that you will do in Barbados. They have reduced the capacity of the submarine to half, & provide everyone with medical masks. They are very strict on wearing masks properly, & sanitising of hands at multiple points within the trip.
