About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kkslover90 contributionsAn Exceptional ExperienceOur tour was an exceptional experience. The catamaran took us from our resort to snorkeling and then a tour down Nergil's coast with views of the cliffs and Rick's Cafe before fun at Margaritaville. The catamaran was clean. The staff was friendly with special mention to lifeguard Kerniffe who had patience and helped us big girls to have a blast. The bad girl drink was delicious and the snacks were as well. Want to have a fun time in Jamaica, take a ride on The Katt catamaran from Island Routes.Written September 11, 2024
- emassenat0 contributionsFull day ChukaMy wife and I did the full day Chuka expedition on Jamaica with zip lining , duns river, ATV and horseback riding! This is by far one of the best full day excursions we’ve ever made. The Air Canada Rep (Danielle) was extremely resourceful and accommodating (even though we traveled with another carrier!!!) and she checked up on us regularly when she learned my wife hit her knee during our vacation. Would definitely recommend this tour!Written September 6, 2024
- 630hayleew0 contributions10/10We went on the all day powerboat tour. Paul and Jermaine were our guides/captain and they were absolutely wonderful. They explained to us a lot about the different sites and showed/taught us about the wildlife while snorkeling. We got to see many fish, sea urchins, stingrays, and an eel. I would recommend bringing plenty of cash for tipping, food/drinks separate from the package, photos, etc. Again, a great time thanks to Paul and Jermaine.Written August 21, 2024

- Ellena S0 contributionsBurden to the staffFrom the start Marlon didn't say not one word to us. Extremely rude. Tracy had an attitude problem. The onlybnuce one was Marshall. The tour was good except for our guides. Don't know why we needed three. They didn't do anything. Didn't explain anything. Don't know how they still have a job. I gave no tip bc it was poor service. The driving was fun and seeing tje country was great. It felt like we were a big burden to the guides though. Totally unprofessional!!Written August 12, 2024

- tenealen0 contributionsDisgustedWas excited to go on the sunset cruise as it looked spectacular however, I waited for over 2 hours at my hotel lobby as requested, to be there a few minutes early before pick up. After I contacted the company 45mins after waiting via Tripadvisor was told the driver was running late. Stayed in the lobby for another 30mins contacted company again with no response then at the 2hr mark, went back to room as I was upset!! Again contacted the company with no response or explanation as to what has occurred!Written July 12, 2024
- Tracy K0 contributionsAvoid avoid avoidWe booked at the counter of Hyatt Ziva for two excursions. However my youngest was overwhelmed and we needed to cancel the second one. I reached out immediately to try to see what we could do but they were closed. I sent an email the same night we booked to try to reach them. The next morning we had the first excursion and I spoke with the hotel concierge because the IR desk was still closed. She said she would relay the message and have someone reach out. Noone did. Luckily we were back before the desk closed so I went and spoke with them. She at first said no refund but called her manager who approved it due to the circumstances. She said it would be several days before I see it processed. Back for two weeks and still nothing. I've reached out several times only to be told no refunds despite what I was told in person. If they would have said we cannot refund you I would have made my youngest go and just not snorkel. But since we were told we could get the refund we didn't go. They just lied to my face. Be truthful so people can make decisions. I would avoid at all costs. They just want to take your money and pressure you in to what activities you do. I have reached out to Hyatt as well because they allow them on their property to be their excursion vendor of choice.Written July 10, 2024
- japplewhaite000 contributionsGreat time in Ocho RíosDunn's River Catamaran Cruise was an awesome experience! They constantly kept the energy up, music pumping and drinks flowing. The whole crew was awesome being attentive and motivating to have fun, relax or just enjoy basking in the sun. They partnered well with the Dunn’s River staff, who were excellent guides. An all around fun time and highly recommended excursion: from easy booking online, transportation to & from our resort, and everything in between.Written June 26, 2024
- lindseyv12140 contributionsPowerboat to Negril…Best day in JamaicaWe took the speedboat tour with Island Routes and it was AMAZING!! Hakim, Tash, and the Captain made this the best day in Jamaica! They took great care of our group of 6. There was only 8 people total on the tour. Taking the Powerboat was the perfect way to see a lot of Jamaica from the water. The snorkeling was the best we have done in any place. Having Hakim in the water showing us different things made it even better! Rick’s Cafe was a cool spot to stop, and the lunch at Margaritaville was delish! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to see the coast and have a blast doing it!Written June 18, 2024
- Mattylenzen0 contributionsPersonal Transport from MoBay to Sandals Dunns RiverMarquis picked us up and drove us to and from MoBay Airport to Sandals Dunns River. He welcomed us with drinks, snacks and great conversation. It was like traveling with an expert on all things Jamaica. It was so nice to NOT be in a crowded transport bus. We had a luxury car to ourselves, and it made the beginning and end of our trip so comfortable! We'll definitely use Island Routes againWritten June 17, 2024
- chadgJ1800QC0 contributionsBest Crew I’ve Ever HadIf you are even thinking about going out sport fishing, book it with Captain Clayton, Lorenzo and Randy. I did half a day on 5/31 and enjoyed it so much I booked a full day the very next day. The crew are professional and have a good time. They want you catch fish and have a great experience. Each day we caught well enough Mahi Mahi for a full dinner for 6 with left overs. They fillet the fish for you and package it to take with you. Everyone gets a big portion. And the resort cooked it Jamaican style which was amazing. Having done sport fish trips before, these guy are the top in my book. The pics were our biggest fish.Written June 1, 2024

The experience was great due to the excellent service provided by the captain, and first mate Akeem. This was my first time snorkeling and they were very helpful in making me feel comfortable. I would highly recommend this company.Written May 31, 2024
- M5480XMhollyj0 contributionsIsland Routes - Yaaman Adventure Park Ocho RiosBooked an excursion with Island Routes, which sent our family to Yaaman Adventure Park Jamacia Ocho Rio. We were scheduled to take a Buggy adventure in a 4-seat UTV. Absolutely no communication on where or what we were to do. We waited on a deck for more than 20 minutes. Finally, was addressed and brought to the instruction area, which we received helmets and no instruction. We are UTV riders back home in the USA so we did know how to drive. We were pointed to the machine to get into and followed the leader 2 times around about a 1-mile circle and that is what Yaaman called an adventure ride. We paid over $600 for this terrible experience. They had a photographer take photos as we went through a puddle of mud but never did see them as the photographer couldn't fine our photos. Lunch was to be served but I had to ask about the lunch service. We finally received cold plate of chicken and rice. I do not recommend this experience.Written May 28, 2024
- nicolecK425ST0 contributionsOverpriced! The drive on its own was beautiful and exiting for those who are not used to drive on the left side of the road. Watch the potholes. Nevertheless, we found the tour is over priced. We were the only couple on that day taking the tour. From the start we were not feeling welcomed by the crew. Already at the first stop “Coconut joint”, the souvenirs were way overpriced so were the drinks. Although our lunch was included, we had to pay for bottled water ourselves. Especially in a country like this, we didn’t want to drink sirup or tab water with ice, not knowing what the ice is made of. Tab water and Sirup were free. The instructions while driving were given through Walkitalki, which was good. But we barely received any info on the places we visited nor of Jamaica in general. All in all, we felt more like a burden to the crew than anything else. There was barely any interaction. May be they just had a bad day. I would suggest to consider renting a car or probably a taxi to do the same route at that price.Written May 23, 2024

The tour was just ok. The snorkeling was very beautiful and one of the staff members, unfortunately I forgot his name, but he was very helpful and guided my boyfriend and I through snorkeling as it was our first time. As for the party boat itself, I'm not sure if it was the day we chose but the crowd seemed older and it was just not as fun as expected. For context, my boyfriend and I are 23 years old. If you are around this age, I would suggest booking the excursion in person with your resort. We saw some other boats docked with a younger crowd which did seem more fun. The tour was also just very quick and the music was ok. They offered some finger foods while we finished snorkeling which was good. Margaritaville was very fun but we were only able to spend 45 minutes there but that is standard for most tours. The service was nice but this just was not as fun as expected unfortunately.
However, our driver Sinclair was great! He took us to a souvenir shop after the excursions where we were able to get some great prices so we really appreciated that!

I attended excursion 8/2/21. The dolphin trip was fine. Unfortunately we were told there was something wrong with the boat’s engine and we would not be able to dock at Margaritaville. Instead the boat stopped in the water and we were told we could swim to Margaritteville. Many chose not to swim and stayed on the boat for over an hour just waiting. One worker excepted money from a passenger and drove the smaller boat over to get her a meal. After awhile some passengers were bored with the reggae music and asked the DJ to play their type of music. That’s when the trip became X RATED! The passengers (mostly women) were completely intoxicated and began humping each other, the poles and anything they could find in the name of partying. This went on for the remainder of the trip until the catamaran docked. I would never recommend this excursion to anyone.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing this review with us. Reviews both positive and negative help us to improve our services. With this being our party cruise it seems there must have been some miscommunication on what you would have expected to experience on this cruise.
We apologise for that as well as the difficulties experienced with the boat and hope that this does not deter you from experiencing another one of our wonderful Caribbean tours in the future.
All the best,

Five people booked at the same time. Three people received an email stating that the cruise didn’t have enough people and was cancelled. Myself and another person received an email the night before saying that the cruise is booked and we were charged. When we go to be picked up, the other three who booked with us weren’t allowed to come because the cruise was now full. Since we were a group, we didn’t want to leave them behind. We asked if they could reschedule us, issue credit or refund us and they said no because it’s too late. I’m never use this service or recommend to anyone. Terrible customer service.

Terrible experience. The boat was SO overpacked you could not enjoy yourself. At most it should have housed 40 people but instead it was like 75. No where to sit so you literally had to stand. There was also no room to dance.
Another thing- you CANT drink on the boat until after snorkeling is done. So the bar is closed the first 90 mins of the excursion. If you bring your own bottle and they see you drinking, you’ll be forced to stay on the boat the entire time.
Such a waste. I wish I had seen the reviews on here. I booked through Expedia.

Hello,
Thank you for taking time out to share your experience with us.
We appreciate this feedback and will share with our operations team in order to improve the experience.
In relation to the bar not opening and not allowing any drinking until after snorkeling is completed, this is company policy in order to ensure the safety of our guests and avoid any incident in the open water.
It is our hope that we will welcome you back to the Caribbean very soon.

So disappointing on every level ( service was good) snorkeling no big deal at all and the guide is throwing food in the water to get fish to come near us. Totally unnatural. Second my worst travel experience ever was going to a rusting discusting very run down Margarita Ville that was overpriced for fly ridden food and horrible drinks. Literally infested with flies you had to keep your mouth shut. Then the drug dealers offering everything you can imagine right before you get back on boat🥴worst $220 I have ever spent in my life!! Add lots of drunk obnoxious loud people on boat and well it was all terrible!!

This activity was terrible. The dancing was vulgar and highly suggestive and encouraged by the crew, who appeared to be intoxicated. The boat was overcrowded and when it rained everyone went inside and made it even more crowded. We actually felt unsafe. I’m amazed Sandals would associate with this activity.

We did this snorkeling catamaran cruise on a Saturday, 10am-1:30pm at a cost of $110/pp. They totally oversold this and we stood most of the time. Music was horrible and we were never able to get to the bar or the food. The captain had a beer in his hands, but we didn’t see him drink. He also spent lots of time allowing guests from the second resort come up and steer the boat. Not cool! When we arrived to snorkel, many of the people on the boat claimed they couldn’t swim and were afraid and needed a lot of assistance getting in the water. So much drama and completely ridiculous! The female crew member “Tosh” was so rude and seemed bothered by the whole thing. There were other boats there, making the water very cloudy so we didn’t see much. Would not book with them again.

Oh, boy. Being out on the open water with the beautiful colors of the ocean was marvelous. The music was decent as they did play some Marley and other Reggae. When the music switched to more pop dance hip/hop tunes, we tuned out. Margaritaville, Montego Bay was the destination stop a MAJOR disappointed for us as there was not one Jimmy Buffett song played over the blaring P.A. that included the same pop/hip hop selections that were played over and over again at our resort. The property was aged and deteriorating. The staff were very professional and nice. The drinks were way overpriced and watered down served in small 10 oz? plastic cups (they could have been 8 oz?). Lunch was a bonus on the catamaran and we could have done without the dry humping on the lower deck upon our return. We went on an "adult" day of the cruise (Tuesday). There will be several vacationers that enjoy themselves too much with the free booze and smoking weed on the tour which is quietly accepted. Some of the partiers were too drunk and too stupid to wear sun screen the day before and were red as lobsters. The staff on the catamaran were out of the park beautiful, welcoming and skilled people. You may have to stand during the trip as we did, but it's a MINOR inconvenience. Roll with the punches. We took this trip 2 days prior to leaving Jamaica and we will remember it very fondly. We met some very nice people on board and the view of the sea along with the snorkeling was priceless.

We had a great time. The crew was very friendly. I felt really safe on the boat. The snorkeling over a coral reef was amazing. We stopped at Margaritaville and the kids went on the water slide and the water trampoline, they loved it. They served food on the boat and unlimited alcohol and play great music and make it fun. Thank you !!

We booked this catamaran snorkeling for 10am - 1pm. From our hotel, the Jewel Grande, it was a ten minute bus ride. They dropped us off and everyone stood around for 30 minutes not knowing what to do. There was no one directing anything. Finally a lady started loudly explaining that everyone needed to sign in. So, we got in line and we're probably 30 people back. There were more than 100 people there so we expected at least two boats, but we were wrong. I. Addiotn to the 38 people booked, they also booked a 44 person wedding party. So there were nearly 100 people on this catamaran. So many, in fact, that it was standing room only. It was extremely crowded and not at all a fun vibe. It was also very hot and they won't let you keep your shoes on, so many people, ourselves included were burning our feet out in the deck. One of the bands finally came and threw a bucket of water on the deck to cool it off.
We finally got moving and within 20 minutes, arrived at our snorkeling area. Snorkeling was nice, but we only stayed out there about 40 minutes. Once everyone was back in the boat, they brought out some food. I guess there was such a rush for it that the lady came.on the intercom and basically started berating everyone for not waiting.
We pulled anchor and to everyone's surprise, we went about 200 yards and docked at Margaritaville, where they said we'd stay for 45 minutes.
So let me get this straight, we boat left 30 minutes late. The trip to the reef and back took about 30 minutes total. Then, instead of boating around or snorkeling, they just park at Margaritaville?
What a joke this was. And the only time they played any reggae was when the boat was moving.
It was definitely NOT a party vibe and the only fun part was being in the water. They clearly don't want to use any more fuel than absolutely necessary.
There were other boys at the reef and none of them had anywhere near the crowd we did. It was waaay overcrowded.
