    What to Expect
As an adventure-seeker you will simply love this new thrill ride that takes you on the Sky Explorer with the landscape unfolding below to the top of St. Maarten’s highest mountain. Then you’ll go flying back down on the world’s steepest zip line.

Each adventure begins in this restored plantation house originally built in the 1700s. The Museum tells the powerful story Trace Wilson who was born into slavery on the property in 1818 and her direct descendant Emilio Wilson. You will see depictions of what life was like on a plantation and learn about the customs, traditions, lifestyle and stories that earned Sint Maarten the nickname ‘The Friendly Island.’

Embark the Sky Explorer for the approximately 25-minute ride to the top of Sentry Hill, St. Maarten’s highest elevation at 1,125 feet. A series of platforms encircle the mountaintop showcasing 360-degree views of the whole island including vistas of neighboring islands Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barts and Anguilla.

A brief orientation will prepare you to fly down the mountain at speeds of up to 56 miles per hour on the world’s steepest zip line, The Flying Dutchman.  You’ll be attached to a flight line in a secure harnessed chair, launching you on the 1050-foot drop in elevation over 2800 feet to experience the ride of a lifetime.

After your fun-filled adventure, select your favorite photo and video then enjoy exploring the Estate and sampling St. Maarten delicacies, snacks and beverages at the Emilio’s Restaurant.

The museum is very nice, well organized and informative. The tube and canopy zip was a blast. The staff at all stations, including ticketing, were great. Some of the funnest people we met on the trip. The Dutchman does include a bit of a wait, especially when cruise ships

We did this as part of a cruise excursion. Our ticket included the Sky Explorer, Flying Dutchman, and Museum tour. The museum wasn't really mentioned upon arrival so we didn't know where it was and didn't tour it. The chairlift's main function was to get you up to the zip line

Hi cbhickey2, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're happy you considered The Steepest Zip Line in the world while being docked in St.Maarten. The Flying Dutchman is definitely an activity worth checking off your bucket list! It isn't as scary as it seems, just a smooth ride down the mountain while taking in fantastic Views! Despite the occasional weather changes, we're happy you were able to zip down the mountain and experience the fun adrenaline of this attraction! There are a variety of factors that may influence the speed in which you descend the mountain; wind direction, weight, harnessed in the inner lines as oppose to the outer lines. Thanks for mentioning the staff! Glad they gave a you a tropical welcome to the park and showed you how we earned the nickname 'The Friendly Island'. Hope to see you again!

I question the value of this experience. No questioning the view from the top nor the thrill of the 45 seconds of drop on the flying dutchman but $70++, not convinced it was worth the money. We were sold this on being a 4+ hour experience, much more like a 2.5 hours and then a

Dear 205geraldt, We understand your adventure wasn't exactly what you expected. However, It's a one of a kind experience, with The Best 360° Views of the entire Island from the top of one of St.Maarten's highest elevations. The Big 3 package can have a duration of up to 4 hours. Depending on business volumes, The Flying Dutchman may have an average waiting time anywhere between 1.5 - 2.5 hours to complete. Fortunately, on the day you visited you were able to complete the excursion much sooner. We completely understand your frustration about the wait time for your shuttle back to the port and we apologize for this delay. Our team is continuously working on improving guests experiences at the park and feedback like yours would help us consider increasing the availability of shuttles. There may have been a miscommunication at the time of departure. However, please take note; taxi rates from the park to port is based on per couple or individual despite sharing the same vehicle. These fees are regulated directly by the Taxi Association and not the park's facility. We hope you consider giving the park a second chance and this time consider The Big 3 package. It's a great way to experience all the attractions we offer and build your adrenaline one attraction at a time!

My wife, two sons and I decided to do the Flying Dutchman zip line ride during our most recent visit to St. Maarten/St. Martin. Billed as the steepest zip line in the world, I found no reason to question this claim. We arrived early at Rainforest Adventures (before the cruise

With a group of “oldies”, I’m 75, we reached the base of the attraction to be “weighed and measured”! Well we were weighed, but little of the other criteria pasted about was checked. Worth checking criteria re clothing etc, just in case. In pairs we made the first ascent, slowly
