Our journey from Kandy to Sigiriya, with a planned stop at the Dambulla Caves, took an unexpected turn due to our driver, Danu. While initially friendly and informative, his behavior quickly became problematic. The Good - Danu was initially kind and engaging, offering suggestions for our trip. - He accommodated our request to stop at the Dambulla Caves en route to Sigiriya. The Bad 1. Unwanted Detours: - After Dambulla, Danu took us to a spice garden without our consent. - This turned out to be a tourist trap with pushy sales tactics. - He persistently tried to make additional stops despite our clear refusal. 2. Aggressive Sales Tactics: - Repeatedly attempted to sell us a safari tour, claiming it was organized by his father. - Offered a minimal "discount" of $5, which seemed more like a sales tactic than a genuine offer. - Even after we declined, he falsely claimed the tour was confirmed. 3. Pushy Post-Trip Behavior: - Sent multiple unsolicited messages trying to secure future bookings. - When rejected, he became argumentative and pushy. - Attempted to charge $140 for a trip we later booked with another driver for $90. - Repeatedly contacted us and even reached out to our Airbnb host after we stopped responding. Conclusion What should have been a straightforward drive from Kandy to Sigiriya with one agreed-upon stop turned into an uncomfortable experience filled with unwanted pressure and sales tactics. We cannot recommend Danu's services due to his lack of respect for our wishes and his persistent, pushy behavior both during and after our trip.

Danushka was our guide for one week showing us the incredible beauty of Sri Lanka. Communication upfront with him was easy and he has sent us an itinerary before booking which we were able to modify if wanted. He can also give good recommendations for hotels to stay but we had booked everything already. During our week with Danushka we were able to see the highlights of Sri Lanka such as Sigiriya, yala and the beautiful train ride to Ella. Danushka took care of the whole organization. We would travel again with him :)

We spend one week with danushka, travelling from Colombo via sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and yala to welligama. We enjoyed our Trip very much, the Programm was well planned, much Highlights and Not to much Programm to really get to know the country. Our Favorite Part was the Suggestion of local food and Restaurants. Danushka took Care of our suggestions in changing Plans at some Points, Overall a very nice experience!

Travel with Danu was the best idea to travel across the country. He had so many good places to stay and he will make a good planning so you can enjoy everything. We shared a lot of good moments and it was so cool to share our differents cultures. We even had the chance to celebrate his birthday with him. We booked 2,5 days with Danu and he took us all around Sigiriya and the surrounding. He had great suggestions regarding restaurants and places to see. He also booked a great Safari for us! Thanks for this experience Danu! I will definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to discover Sigiriya and the surroundings.

I stayed at Danu’s Homestay in Sigiriya, and had a great time. It was clean and well managed, and his wife cooked tasty breakfast and dinner. He was helpful and would offer suggestions of things to do, and would organise trips if I wanted them. He drove me to Pidurangala Rock, and down to Kandy stopping off at the Dambulla Rock Temple. He organised great accommodation for me in Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) and I continued to organise taxi’s around Sri Lanka through him as he gave me a very good price, and I could trust the service. Could not recommend enough.

I heartily recommend Sigiriya Danu & Travel. Beautiful place, helpful and friendly Owner. Organizes Safari trips and more. Delicious breakfasts and lunches. It's worth coming and checking for yourself!

I highly recommend everyone to stay at Sigiriya Danu&Travel. The owner is a nice, helpful host, sociable, nice to talk to and spend time with. He will take you wherever you want (tuk tuk, car), suggest places worth seeing and recommend the best activities. He gave me a bike so I could also wandering around the village. I felt taken care of, safe, I am solo travel girl, so safety is very important for me. The host and his family are very welcoming and the wife prepares delicious meals. Room and bathroom were clean, nice and big, bed comfortable. You must come and feel it !

We spent three wonderful days here. Danu is an excellent guide and driver, showed us all the main attractions in Sigiriya, introduced us to the culture of Sri Lanka. We were very happy and hope to return back.

I went to Sri Lanka in 2018 with my mom. Danu was our guide for a couple of days he showed us greats spots and helped us dicover the great culture of sri Lanka. To this day we are stil in contact and i would go back anytime.
