Venture off-the-beaten-track: visit Concordia and Copalia villages
Delicious lunch of Mexican cuisine (if option selected)
Small-group tour with a maximum of 15 people
Hassle-free pickup from your Mazatlan hotel
What to expect
Your tour begins with hotel pickup at 9:30am, when you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for Malpica, a small artisan community famed for its oven-baked bread and colorful tiles. After a brief stop here, you’ll proceed to the town of Concordia, founded in the 16th century by Spanish conquistador, Francisco de Ibarra. Learn about local industry, which includes silver and gold mining, and visit architectural highlights such as the pink San Sebastian Temple and City Hall. Your next stop is Copala, a village cradled by the scenic Sierra Madre mountains. Wander the cobbled streets and admire red-roofed houses adorned with flowers. Following a Mexican lunch (own expense), you’ll visit the town’s main plaza and then be transferred back to your Mazatlan hotel.

A wonderful, informative day
May 2021 • Couples
David provided an excellent experience. We visited 3 small villages in the nearby mountains to Mazatlan. David has a great knowledge of Mexican history. I learned so many interesting facts. His English is excellent and he let me practice a little Spanish as well. I would recommend this trip. Lunch was very good. I elected on your own.

Fun tour
Our tour guide Jesus was really nice, very informative. We went during covid times so he said he’s out of practice with English, but he knew so much more than he thinks! He also showed up right on time which we appreciated. Luckily, we were the only ones on the tour so we got to set the pace of the timeline. He was very flexible with us and allowed us to stop anywhere we wanted which included some souvenir shopping. Because it’s been slow, some things were closed but that didn’t stop us. We wanted to see more small villages around Mazatlan and thats exactly what you’re going to get. We started the tour sightseeing but the coolest thing you get to watch is a man make cement tiles. We ended up buying three for souvenirs! We ended the tour with a lunch at this restaurant in Copala. The decor was so unique, we loved everything about it. It used to be a hotel but it turned into a restaurant. If you eat lunch there, the banana coconut cream pie is a must. I was tempted to buy a whole pie for myself if I wasn’t leaving so soon. We had so much fun, we ended up taking naps on our ride back to Mazatlan. Thank you for everything Jesus, we enjoyed the tour!

Great village tour!
Aug. 2020
We had a wonderful time! We took the tour just a short time after Mazatlan opened up again and were the only two members of the tour. But that didn't stop our guide from giving us a grand experience visiting small villages, churches, a local tile-maker, tequila factory, and more! Highly recommended!

Best Mazatlán experience!
Aug. 2020 • Family
Our guide, Luiz, was wonderful. He spent all day with just myself and my daughter explaining Mexican culture and history, introducing us to local villages and villagers, and providing us with a memorable experience. The views were gorgeous, the lunch was delicious, and the opportunity to take home souvenirs manufactured right before our eyes was priceless. We highly recommend this tour for anyone!

Great way to see the non commercial areas of Mazatlán
This was a great trip! We were picked up and dropped of from our resort right I. Time. The tour guy was very knowledgeable which he seemed to know everything about the areas. He even sung happy bday to my girlfriend and bought her a pie from the restaurant we ate at because it was her bday. The pie must of been the best pie I have ever eaten in my life..

a true look at the old culture of Mexico

This is one of the best tours I have ever been on any where. Eduardo our driver and guide was very friendly and spoke good English. He met us as we arrived in the cruise terminal. There were three couples each mid 60's in age. We were in a nice van and Eduardo is a good driver so we always felt comfortable. Along the way he provided a running commentary on the sights we were passing whether these were in the city or out in the country. The stops included making of adobe bricks, hand made tile, a village bakery, a small museum, a church that was celebrating its saints day, another small village and its church, square and a good lunch. If you are ready for something different than just the highlights of Mazatlan, you should consider this tour.

Colonial History
Jan. 2020 • Couples
This was the second tour we took with Eduardo at Mazatlan Van Tours during our 11 day stay in the beautiful Centro Historico district of old Mazatlan. What a beautiful drive! We wound our way through the countryside up into the mountains stopping to observe brick making (critical to everyday of the people in the region), traditional furniture making, ceramic tile and pottery manufacturing. The two villages of Concordia and Copala were stunning (Copala in particular).

An added bonus to the tour was our driver and guide Eduardo. This was the second small group tour we took in Mazatlan with Eduardo. He is very knowledgeable not only about the region (he was born in Mazatlan) but about also about the flowers, wildlife and agricultural aspects of the area. He has a way of introducing the day-to-day lives of the local people, past and present, into his narrative. It was more like a leisurely drive in the mountains with a native-born friend than an impersonal guided tour. The six of us in the van all commented on how wonderful he was.

A beautiful tour but do yourself a favour and request Eduardo. You won’t regret it.

Awesome Tour Experience!
Dec. 2019
This tour was really great. It got us away from all of the touristy trappings of the Malecon and out into the countryside to see a part of the region that is much less traveled. Jesus was our guide and did an amazing job providing us with information about the villages, sights, and other interesting things along the road during our tour. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quite personable. By the end of the tour, we definitely felt like we had made a friend in Mazatlan. We were lucky enough to book our tour on a day that the cruise ships did not come in. As a result, we were the only people on the tour, which made the tour feel even more special.

The lunch we had in Copala was the favorite meal during our stay in Mazatlan for everyone in our group.

Excellent tour experience
Dec. 2019 • Family
Jose was very knowledgeable and interesting. Clean van, reasonable group size. Since van smaller than bus can get through tight historic roads better than bus. Also can make quicker starts and stops for visits to little extra locations. He added a very nice drive around the city to show off a town he loves.
