Best Horseback Riding + Tequila Tasting Tour!
It was my first time visiting Guadalajara and this private tour was perfect from start to finish! :) I almost didn’t book since it didn’t have many reviews - but after reading positive reviews for the tour company, I gave it a shot! I’ve been on countless tours before and love to travel. This was one of the best tours I’ve ever done. To start the day, my husband and I were picked up from our hotel in Centro Historico at 9am. Our friendly guide was Delfino; he kept us entertained during the hour drive with interesting info about Guadalajara and Tequila. It was just the 3 of us in a clean, safe car with strong AC, which helped since it was a hot day! He offered us free water bottles throughout the day which was helpful since we were pretty drunk from all of the tequila… Our first stop was to do tequila tasting at Don David in Amititan. We went to an absolutely gorgeous spot with a scenic view overlooking the glorious agave fields. At the private tasting, we learned how to truly savor tequila with an expert and then explored the agave fields with Delfino to learn more about them. Our second stop was to meet the father and son who were waiting with our horses in Amititan for our horseback riding tour. This was an absolutely magical experience: the sun was shining, the agave fields we passed by were stunning, the father and son were patient with us (since we were a bit tipsy from tequila!), and there were 3 cute small dogs that followed the horses the entire time. After the 45-minute horseback ride, our guide drove us to Tequila. We stopped by the Jose Cuervo distillery to use their bathroom and then walked around Tequila. We explored a church, checked out outdoor stalls selling trinkets and souvenirs, wandered through the town square, stopped by the Casa Sauza distillery, and ate tequila and agave ice cream at a local shop. (The ice cream and tastings at both distilleries were not included with the tour - but you can purchase them separately!) Afterwards, it was time for lunch and we drove to nearby La Taberna, an underground restaurant. Lunch came with chips, salsa, and delicious margaritas. My husband and I got beef tacos and chicken fajitas, and dessert of arroz con leche (rice pudding with fruit). The food was decent - not the best nor worst Mexican food we’ve had! We passed by “barrel hotels” on the way to lunch and got to see one up close. Then we had a tequila tasting at Cofradia followed by a tour of the factory to see how it’s produced. We got more tequila tastings during the tour. It took us over an hour to drive back to our hotel for our drop off - but we had such an incredible day that we didn’t mind. Overall, I highly recommend the tour and our guide! It was a fun adventure and not having to think about transportation, food, and drinks was great. It was also nice that our experience was customized. Our guide adapted to our needs hour by hour and let us decide where we wanted to spend more/less time at.

          Top notch staff and experience
I loved this tour company so much that I did three tours ( tequila, lake, and guachimontoes) with them in Jalisco. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean cars and they'll bend over backward to make you happy. There was some initial confusion about my booking, but they went out of their way to make it right.

Fabulous tour guide and beautiful cities.
Today we went on our second trip with Adventure Poe Jalisco. We went to Ajijic and Lake Chapela. The tour guide was amazing and knew so much about the area. We had an amazing time and recommend any of their tours.

          celestial reunion
It was a trip in which I stayed for 6 days, I went with my family in total we were 17 people It is a place that still contains its culture in the form of houses, the residents dress in typical Mexican clothing, the food they sell is classified into Mexican dishes, it is a place that is not expensive most of the route they sell traditional sweets and many crafts made with wood. It is a place that has many places to take pictures, at night the residents turn on yellow lights and the churches are adorned with a series of lights that make it shine far away, making it a very beautiful magical town ,It is a place that I would recommend to spend with the family telling that, in terms of prices, it is not expensive, it is cheap to be there, the only disadvantage is that there is not much security in the place, there are hardly any officers patrolling the area

          Amazing Jalisco experience
This was my first time in Guadalajara and I was looking for a nice tour that would include the Guachimontones. I figured I'd go over there and take a few pictures and have a nice lunch at the Old Hacienda. This tour exceeded my expectations. The country side outside of Guadalajara, which I saw on the way to the Guachimontones was so beautiful. As part of the tour you have to walk up to the visitor's center and there is a view up there where you can look down at the small town and the lake and it was stunning. The tour is very well done. My guide was Dante and he was so knowledgeable about the Guachimontones and the region in general. It was a delight being able to hear about the rich history of Guadalajara and the surrounding areas from Dante. Dante also runs tours to Lake Chapala and to Tequila as well, so he is definitely the right guide for someone like myself who was trying to discover the region. As part of this tour we also had lunch at an Old Hacienda. It was very much like traveling back in time as the hacienda looks like it's frozen in time. It was such a unique, worthwhile experience and I'm glad I can say that I've now had lunch at a Mexican hacienda. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Guadalajara for the first time.

Good experience with a billing issue
Check your credit card. Company overcharged me and never acknowledged or attempted to correct the issue. First tour to tequila was good. Tour to the lakes was okay. Was a mostly Spanish speaking audience, and it felt like I was a third wheel on somebody else’s private tour.

          Amazing!
While looking for something to do in Guadalajara we stumbled upon this activity that had NO reviews, we went ahead and took the chance and booked the tour. All I can say is WOW! It was truly an experience and I would do again with them without a doubt. We were their priority and our driver even stopped at a Starbucks because we hadn’t had breakfast. The horse ride to the distillery was the perfect length, and as a first time horse rider the help that was offered was amazing. Plenty of tasty tequila and knowledgeable staff. The meal provided was amazing and we were even given free roaming time in tequila. 10/10 recommend this activity! We will be back!

A must see and do while in Guadalajara
From start to finish this was the absolute best experience ever. I had Roberto as my tour guide and he was very good and explained certain details that made my trip even better. I can’t stop raving about how good it was. At the last minute I booked the 3rd tier tour and it was still very good. Once the tour finished the food and entertainment started and so much fun. Anyone who is thinking about a Tequila tour trip must do the Herradura Tequila Tour.

Fun, but you won't really learn much about tequila.
Having taken both this large scale tequila train tour (about 1000 people visiting the Herradura factory, one of the largest producers of tequila) and also going on a small-group craft tequila tour (about 8 of us in a van, visiting a couple tequila crafters who bottle less tequila all year than the large factory makes in a day), I think we can be informative to those wondering which tour to take. Personally I am glad we did both. Each provides an experience the other does not. The large group tour took us by train, which allows you to appreciate the countryside in a way that you cannot in a car or bus. The large tour provided excellent entertainment, the best mariachis, constant attention from their wait staff bringing cocktails (or straight tequila) whenever you asked. The food was actually very good. We got to see and understand the organization and scale of a massive tequila factory. Unfortunately our tour guide was not very organized nor educated nor accessible. And we had to accept that there were a LOT of people on the tour. By contrast, the crafted tour gave us nearly constant contact with an expert in all aspects of tequila production, including agricultural issues, harvesting the agave, cooking, fermenting, aging, and more. We got a look at small scale production, and we got to visit the agave fields and the town of Tequila itself. There were no mariachis, no steak dinner, and no wait staff. But we did learn about gorditas (a kind of breakfast tortilla), drank some incredible fresh hand-squeezed OJ, and ate lunch in the central plaza of Tequila. And we got to visit the Puerta de Hierro tequila factory where Cava de Oro is produced, and tasted all the varieties they produce. The mass produced experience and the mass produced tequila cannot be compared to the crafted experience and the crafted tequila, they are like two different things entirely. Each is good in it’s own way (though, if the crafted tequila were available in the USA there is no way I’d buy the mass produced version). When yo take the Herradura Express you know what to expect, you will get the same tequila you can buy every day at the liquor store, and you will line up behind hundreds of other people (kind of like going to an amusement park). On the crafted tour you will learn much more about tequilas, taste tequilas that are probably unlike any you have previously tasted and that are probably not otherwise available to you, and you will not have to wonder where your guide is in the sea of people. My recommendation: if you can only do one, take the crafted experience. If you can do both. Then do both, there is very little overlap and both are worth while.

          Great experience
Fabulous service, great food, and above of all the best tequila. If you in Guadalajara this should be one of the things to do. From the people who meet you at the train station to the waiters inside the train, to the first class mariachis show and dancers is a very well money paid.

You can make this a booze trip or you can make this a culinary/food experience with an emphasis on Tequila and the mexican national spirit. The heat of the day reduces the desire to booze it up too much. There is so much to learn about Tequila from the plant to the distillery. Highly recommended.

We had a phenomenal experience, but I hope you can handle a lot of alcohol if you go!

For starters, I was never a huge fan of tequila before this experience. However, we were in Mexico to visit my bf’s family and it was his birthday(he loves tequila) so this was his birthday present.

We arrived at the train station to check in, and they had coffee and snacks awaiting us. Then it was time to board, the train looked beautiful in the outside. The inside?... oh my. It’s worth it to pay for the luxury tickets, because it was lovely inside. I guess for once I felt like royalty.

From there, your table gets its own guide. They guide you through a tequila demonstration, explaining how to swirl the tequila in the glass and how to taste it. A platter of snacks comes to accompany the drinks and well as a “smell dish”. They explain in Spanish and English how you pair certain smells and food with certain tequila. During this time, you may drink as much as you want.

Then we arrived and Tequila, Mexico. They had buses waiting for us to take up to the distillery. The whole place was beautiful, but as expected as a tourist attraction. We learned a great deal about the history, and why it’s called Tequila. We walked through the distillery and learned a lot, and even got to try a shot of 100% pure, undiluted tequila... it hits you hard. Anyways, afterwards we were free to go through the gift store and out to explore Tequila, Mexico for the afternoon. Good time to stock up in tequila significantly cheaper.

We roamed around Tequila for a while, and are lunch(lunch is on your own). Then went back to the distillery for some popsicle and a performance. Be prepared to sing along! There’s a lot of good performances. Then went back to our buses and headed to our next destination. During the bus ride, you can get various cocktails and drinks. The “sunset” was my favorite. We drove and eventually ended up at a Agave plantation. We got to learn about how they harvest and cut the plants, and the whole process that goes into it. We were also offer snacks, the fresh churros were my favorite. After an hour or two, we got back on the bus.

Depending on your bus.. it could get crazy. We had amazing and a little crazy guides, and well we were playing Scorpian and everyone was taking shots out of the bottle. It was truly the party bus, but to be fair... Get your moneys worth, right?

Finally the bus takes you all the way back to Guadalajara.

As fun as all the alcohol was, I was impressed by the knowledge and appreciation I gained from this experience. I was never really a party animal to begin with, but sitting back and watching everyone act so carefree and happy was a good experience. I guess you can say Mexicans really know how to party, because they do!

My wife and I took the José Cuervo Tequila Train tour when we recently visited Guadalajara. The all-day Trip was well worth the effort. We stopped in the agave fields to see a demonstration of how the plant is grown and harvested. Then we went on to the town of Tequila and visited the Cuervo distillery and the related shops and attractions. The actual distillery tour was very interesting as was the village itself. We saw a performance by mariachis and a folkloric dancing group before boarding the train for a two-hour ride back to the city. We would certainly recommend the trip to others.

We took the José Cuervo bus in the morning and returned on the train. We are very glad we were first on the bus as we stopped in the agave fields on the way into Tequila. We were not rushed, the weather was still cool, and we had plenty of time to ask questions with the English guide. Once we arrived at the José Cuervo distillery, we had Marco, an English guide, give an excellent tour of the facilities. The two hours on our own in town were nice for wandering and seeing the quaint square. Returning to the amphitheater for the show was a bit disappointing. The speakers were so loud we had to hold our ears closed as it truly was uncomfortable. The mariachis and dances were very good...just couldn’t enjoy due to the loudness of the speakers. We were on the “diamonte “ car on our return to Guadalajara. There was no one to explain the tequila tastings in English so we sat in mostly ignorance of the goings on. The small snack meal was also a disappointment. I would not recommend paying the cost of the diamonte car as we could have done just as well in a lower cost car. On the walking tour of the distillery, there were no advantages of having paid the higher cost.
