Overview

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her colorful and expressive self-portraits. Learn about her unique life and career at this one-of-a-kind museum, the former home she shared with husband/muralist Diego Rivera. It's now one of Mexico City’s top attractions. Save time by prebooking your admission ticket.

What to Expect

With prebooked admission, you’ll be ready to enter the Frida Kahlo Museum without waiting to purchase a ticket. Also known as Casa Azul, or the Blue House, the building was once the home and birthplace of the revered Mexican painter, immortalized by Salma Hayek in the film version of her life.

You’ll be free to wander through the house at your leisure, spending as much time as you’d like lingering over Kahlo’s world-famous artworks. Get to know the woman behind the iconic self-portraits through photographs, memorabilia, and personal items from her marriage to muralist Diego Rivera. You’ll also get a peek at the couple’s collection of Mexican folk art and pre-Hispanic artifacts.

The house has remained virtually unchanged since the 1950s, when Rivera donated the property to establish a museum in Kahlo’s honor. Visiting the rooms at your own pace, you’ll get a rare glimpse into the extraordinary life of one of the world’s most seminal artists.

You can enter at the start of your stated time on the ticket. The day I was there, folks were lining up about 30-45 minutes before their time to go in.
