Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:

- eavano20240 contributionsSuch a great day! From start to finish we had a fantastic day. Moto was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable and funny! Enrique was our driver and he got us safely from one spot to the next. The bus was comfortable. Bring plenty water and snacks although lunch was served a little after 2pm buffet style and it was so delicious, catered to vegetarians, just asked about allergies but all was sign posted too. Such a great day couldn’t recommend it more, so so wonderful!Written February 10, 2025
- latikam20250 contributionsPerfect day and magical cenote!!It was a perfect day !! Our guide Moto and driver Enrique were very friendly and knowledgable. The best part was that everything was done and fished on time unlike the reviews from the other tour group we had read ( that it might take up to 15 or more hours ). We were picked up as told at 6.35 amand dropped off at 6.30 pm at our resort. Chichen itza was good, the guide made it better , however the best part was swimming in the magical cenote. We got about 20-22 minutes to be in water given we changed and showered really quickly. The guide suggested to swim first to avoid the crowd and it was particularly important for me as I am 6 months pregnant with a toddler, so wanted the stairs to be less watery and slippery ( about 90ish stairs). We could smoothly do the bathing and changing followed by quick lunch ( a bit rushed for us given a toddler). Tequila tasting was also good for my husband and we got 15 ish minutes after to explore the streets of Valladolid. Tips… carry lots of water/juices especially if u going in March and after. Shopping at their first shop is expensive and same things can be found near chichen itza and prices can be bargained. Bus was comfortable enough, no bumpy rides ( again was important for me). Also have charging points.Written February 10, 2025

- brel20250 contributionsA great day learning about Mayan people and historyThe all inclusive Chichen Itza tour was better than I expected! Uli and Raul picked us up on time, at our hotel. Uli was very friendly, knowledgeable, and organized. He taught us all about Mayan culture and history. We went to a Mayan community with shopping and history, spent 2 hours at Chichen Itza, ate at a buffet with local cuisine, swam in a beautiful cenotes and tasted tequila in another Mayan city. I'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Mayan communities & learn their history.Written February 9, 2025
- W9113YRadamc0 contributionsAmazing experienceVery well organised tour. Moto and Norma were our guides. They are very knowledgeable and made the experience interesting from start to finish. They injected a lot of humour into their talks and allowed their personalities to come out. My favourite part of the tour was swimming in a cenote. We had almost 2 hours for ourselves so plenty of time to enjoy the water and then grab something from a complimentary buffet which was decent. Chichen Itza was also amazing and I learned a lot about its history and how people lived back then. Overall, I rate this tour a 5/5 because it combined interesting, educational activities as well as fun, playful activities. I highly recommend it.Written February 9, 2025

Our guide Miriam & driver Donillo (hope I spelt that right) were awesome hosts for the day. My rating would be 5/5 if it were based on them alone.
I’ve done my best to summarize the pros and cons of the day below and left some advice for others considering this tour.
Warning: this is a full day tour and it is exhausting. Of the 12 hours, I think we easily spent at least half on the bus (we were picked up on Playa Del Carmen).
Pros:
- Our guide, Miriam, gets a 5/5 for the level of knowledge, passion, enthusiasm and humour she brought to the experience
- The Chichen is a true marvel and seeing it with our own eyes and being able to explore the grounds made the day worth it alone
- The restaurant had plenty of options and buffet style was much needed as you don’t eat for the first half of the day
- The Cenote is one of a kind experience. You get to swim in a 25m deep hole with turtles and fish
- The bus was comfortable and our driver was very punctual
Cons:
- The first stop felt like a forced tourist trap in attempt to sell you overpriced souvenirs. We spent an hour here and felt like we could’ve done without it, especially considering how long the day already was.
- The restaurant staff do not allow you drink your own water, forcing you to buy water or pop (which is not included with your ticket) @ $5 USD per serving. Again, really just taking advantage of tourists.
- The day generally felt rushed between all the sites and stops and bus ride, so you don’t get to spend as much time at the sites as you’d probably like.
- Merchants will swarm you at every stop to try and sell you anything
Advice:
- Do not pay for the all-inclusive option as it is cheaper to pay for everything individually. Here’s a summary of what my partner and I spent in total (in USD): Hotel pickup package $120 + Chichen entry fee $70 + Lifejackets + locker $12 = $202 USD or ~$295 CAD
- Pay for your Chichen entry ticket in pesos. The tour guide will charge you either $40 USD or $645 MXP (which you can purchase for $35 USD at your hotel).
- Pack plenty of food and water for the day as stops for refreshments are limited and you’re only given 1 meal for the 12h day.
- The bus ride can be a bit nauseating so would recommend some gravol or ginger
Bottom Line: If you want a hassle free day with minimal planning on your part, this is probably for you. It was very effortless on our part in simply attending and tagging along for the day while the your company did everyone.
However, if you are looking to get the most of the Chichen Itza experience and don’t care for all the extra touristy stops along the way, I would recommend renting a vehicle and making a day of it on your own to get the full experience.

Going to Chi Chen Itza was an unforgettable experience; seeing just how intelligent the mayans were and utilized all organic material throughout the riviera maya. The views are amazing and is especially more breathtaking as you learn about its rich history. The tour although long )depending on pickup) is very well done and doesn’t feel long. They give the appropriate amount of time spending time with us and giving us free time. Our tour guides, Rey and Norma, were extremely knowledgeable and made the tour pleasant. Rene the bus driver drove smoothly throughout the ride and made sure to keep the Ac going(very much appreciated)! There is also an app they suggest to download to know what to expect and when to expect activities which was very accurate.
I do recommend taking light long sleeve clothes, water, a hat or umbrella and comfortable shoes as the weather was 99• F during chi chen itza.
I also recommend wearing water shoes for the cenote as going down the stairs is a bit slippery.
Lastly, in this excursion you are paying for the drive, tour guides providing you knowledge about the locations throughout the sites, a trip to the cenote, lunch and a quick trip to a nearby town. Having said that, you do have to pay to enter into chi Chen itza either through the tour guide(easiest route) or at the entrance.
Thank you Norma Rey and Rene for an unforgettable experience!

Beautiful places to visit, Chichen Itza is definitely magical and the guides make the experience even better with their knowledge and stories; El cenote seems incredible, refreshing and safe, and the city of Valladolid seems to be very beautiful, I say it seems because there is no time on the tour to know it, you arrive and you are taken to listen to some people who sell you Tequila and then you have 5 minutes to know the city which is impossible, I definitely think the tour should consider only two destinations with more time in each, especially in the cenote where you can spend 5 minutes in the water if you want to have time to change and eat. Best of all: the punctuality in the transfers when picking us up and dropping us off again at our hotel was super good and the communication was excellent, the buses are comfortable, the places are very special and the guides Rafa, Samy and Kique who give everything so that we have a great experience. The regular: the little time you have to tour the places and enjoy them; Things to improve: 1. In the cenote is where the buffet pays the “All inclusive”, it is a buffet prepared only for those who take the tour, it is limited and you can not eat in the buffet of the main restaurant of the place where there are more food options, they should explain this and give the option for those who want to eat in the restaurant with a better buffet so there is an extra charge. The food tastes good and they serve you very well. 2. The visit to Valladolid should be more planned, it should last much longer than 30 minutes, not take tourists to listen to the talk of selling tequila (maybe just tell them where that place is for those who want to go and like alcohol) in this way you would have more time to tour the main square where apparently there are many special places to visit.

Unfortunately, the experience did not meet the advertised expectations. I wrote 3 times to SAT and they never replied. I would give a 1 star rating.
Overbooking: The advertisement stated a maximum of 40 participants, but there were 52 people on board, which significantly reduced comfort (insufficient space in the bus, worse than an airplane) and caused multiple delays.
Poor Organization and Delays: The pickup time was 40 minutes later than scheduled, and the participant collection process took 1.5 hours after our arrival, including detours to various resorts.
Program Not Respected: The first stop was not listed in the announced itinerary. It was clearly a tourist trap aimed at encouraging us to spend money, with contradictory explanations about the stop duration (originally announced as 30 minutes but lasted over an hour). We also lost time on the bus without valid reasons.
Meals and Organization: The lunch timing was not respected. Lunch was served at 3 PM despite no breakfast being provided. This was very inconsiderate, especially as my children were very hungry, and we had to pay $30 USD for two hot dogs and chips at the Maya site. Additionally, pieces of aluminum foil were found in the pulled pork. (See attached photo.) We were aware that drinks were not included, but the prices were excessive ($5 USD for a Coca-Cola).
Limited Access: There was no internet access on the bus, while other buses around us had it. The seats were extremely cramped, worse than an airplane, lacking the comfort expected for an excursion involving over 7 hours of transport.
Missed Dinner Reservation: Due to the late return, we missed our 8 PM dinner reservation and had to pay a considerate penalty fee.

3 friends and I decided to book this tour after arriving at our resort in Cancun. Mixtli, the Nexus staff member who helped us book the tour, was wonderful, and very transparent with costs and what would meet our interests best. Although Sunwing suggests booking tours from the plane to save money, we paid the same price at the resort.
The tour itself was incredible. The transfer bus picked us up at our hotel at 630am, and also stopped at other hotels to pick up people. After we transfered to the tour bus, it took approximately 2 hours to reach Chichen Itza, our first stop. Our tour guide Eduardo excellently balanced out time for us to nap if we wanted (it was a very early morning), and providing interesting and relevant information about the Mayan culture/history, and areas we were visiting that day. He kept it interesting and was genuine. Our bus driver Mario was very nice, and an excellent driver. It was clear that he and Eduardo respected each other and worked very well together. I would've loved to have more time in Chichen Itza, to be able to take a more relaxed pace to see everything, however I understand they had to time it as they did for this tour as it was already a very full day.
The tour provided pop or beer after each stop, full water bottles at the start of the tour, and plenty of umbrellas in case of rain or sun. The bus was comfortable, and Mario kept it tidy and cleaned the bus of any garbage while we were at each stop.
The lunch was excellent, with plenty of choices at the buffet, and the open air restaurant was absolutely stunning. Swimming in the ceynote was frankly magical, and I highly recommend going in. The water wasn't as cold as I expected and the water was so clear it was hard to "fathom" the depth haha For such a popular tourist area the walkway to the ceynote was a bit dirty and rundown, however the actual entrance and steps were well maintained, and the system to get your life jacket was smoothly run. It would've been nice to have actual change rooms instead of having to change in the toilet stall, although they were a bit larger than usual for this purpose I think. There are free lockers for use that were very helpful, and the showering area by them.
I would recommend this tour, particularly with Eduardo and Mario, and will definitely book with Nexus again.

Our tour guide, Alfredo, was AMAZING. His English was incredible and he made the tour very fun and enjoyable. He makes lots of jokes and provided a rich history on the background of the Mayan people and Chichén Itzá! Our driver, Danilo made the ride smooth and enjoyable. The lunch buffet was delicious and the cenote was refreshing. Valladolid was a quaint town with a European touch that made it mesmerizing. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone that is looking to get a great tour of Chichén Itzá, especially with the price being $150 cheaper than what our hotel was offering! Just beware of the $40 admission fee per person to get in, but we knew ahead of time.

Value for money is solid - 2-3 hour transit both directions, stops at chichen itza, a cenote, and historic pueblo, as well as lunch. Sufficient time at each location both as a tour component in addition to free time to take pictures and shop, etc. Company runs on time, my pickup was well coordinated, especially given I booked the night before and needed a pickup/drop-off away from the usual routes.
However, be prepared to be aggressively marketed. Tour companies need to make money and frequently take you to tourist traps, but this is the first one I've experienced that was trying to sell us things on the bus. I've also never been shamed out of haggling by a tour guide operator, preemptively, which is especially odd as shop/stall owners automatically start haggling since it's common practice.
Communication also could have been better - there were multiple options to pay for chichen itza tickets (cash, PayPal etc), including buying you own on site if you want to use a credit card, but they only mentioned the possible long lines to buy on your own after everyone decided so you couldn't change your mind. The tour guide operator was upset that people were falling asleep in the morning on the two+ hour bus to chichen itza as well.
I would still go again given how expensive transportation is otherwise and the great coordination of the company. Even with needing to pay extra for chichen itza (not included in ticket), it's worth it and I'd do it again, but it was a mediocre experience.

First I want to start in the morning if the trip, the tour operator asked me and my family to go to a different location for a pick up. When in fact the route of the van who picked us up at the side road was going on the same route at our hotel. I was travelling with kids and the reason I booked it because it says hotel pick up, which did not happen in our case. However, few guests were also picked up at the hotel where we stayed and they didn’t have to go to other location for a pick up.
Secondly, the tour was very short at each place I feel that we were always in a rush to go to the next place. I would like to stay in one place for let’s say half a day then feel the vibes of the environment. The cenote was okay it was overrated, it was not really cleaned or maintained well. The stairs need some remodelling to be done for safety reasons. If you make a mistake walking at the stairs , I’m sure you are done due to the depth of the cenote. The cenote entrance was quite expensive which isn’t worth it for the price and the duration we stayed there which was only an hour that’s including the changing time.
I think the tour operators need to revise the tour schedule so that tourists would enjoy the place even more. I feel like what they did was its money money thing only.
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and I don’t like the fact they have to ask for tips and included it discussion. I like to give but to reinforce it was really a No No for me.
I enjoyed the varieties of food served which was fantastic and I really enjoyed every bit of it !

We were told our pickup time would be confirmed before 7pm the day before. We were given our time of 6:30am at 4pm. When we woke up at 5:40 we had been given a new pickup time of 6:10 at 9:45pm (we already went to bed). Luckily I was continuously checking the app or we would’ve missed the bus. We also scrambled to find something for breakfast as nothing on the resort opened until 6am. We waited on the bus for a few minutes for another group from our resort, but they must’ve missed the pickup time change and we left without them.
Other than that we had a nice day, but it was very long. We didn’t get home until 8pm.
We stopped at a Mayan village on the way to chichen itza and saw a shaman, ladies making fresh tortillas and a Mayan warrior walking around. You had the option to buy a Mayan birth certificate there with lots of information for about $30 USD. There were also lots of souvenirs to be bought that were very expensive and we were able to taste some tequila (that was also for purchase).
I’m pretty sure you get brought here first as the tour company makes profit on the souvenirs because there was SO MANY options for souvenirs that were pretty well the same for much cheaper at Chichen Itza. The shaded areas surrounding the buildings were filled with people selling things. Most of them yelling $1 at us.
Chichen Itza was very cool, our tour guide Hugo was very knowledgeable and kind. He walked around with us and explained things while we were there as well as on the bus beforehand. Then we had some time to explore ourselves. There’s no shade around the buildings and you’re there at noon, so it’s quite hot.
The cenote was chilly, but spectacular. There was a man that worked there that took beautiful photos of my boyfriend and I and then airdropped them to me afterwards. The lunch buffet and tacos were quite good as well.
We ran into a bit of a hiccup on our way to Valladolid when a car hit our bus. However, while we waited for the insurance paperwork to be completed we were close enough to Xoul to walk. There’s beautiful sculptures, pottery, jewelry and alcohol to be purchased there and we had another tequila and mezcal tasting. We were then able to walk to the square, see a beautiful church and again be surrounded by many vendors selling things for pretty cheap.
We were surprised that we got a couple of extra things on our trip that we weren’t expecting, like the stop at the Mayan village and tequila tasting. But it helped break up the 3 hour drive from Playa del Carmen.
There is a time zone change from Quintana Roo to Yucatan to be aware of as well.

Overall enjoyable experience. Full day activity (6:30a-7:30p). Punctual pick up from resort, above average bilingual tour guide, comfortable clean modern coach bus (tight leg room) with onboard lavatory, 4-lane federal highway with minimal pot holes on side roads. Would recommend buying skip the line Chichen Izta tickets the day before the tour. Their ticket link did not work the day of so we had to wait in line (approx 30 mins) and missed a portion of the guided tour. There is more Chichen Izta grounds and ruins to explore besides the main temple and stadium so use the time wisely to see as much of it as you can (can easily lose track of time looking at all the curio stands). The lunch buffet was all you can eat fresh tacos, pasta, salad, beans and rice and it was delish. The cenote was fun and refreshing. Small catfish in the water. Cool photo ops. They make you rent and wear life jackets is the only downside. The tour of the town Valladolid was interesting given the Spanish architecture and old Catholic Church however didn’t have much time to tour beyond the city square given time constraints. Looked like there were lots of boutique hotels to check out. Felt safe the whole day.

Hi, how safe is this tour? I have heard certain parts of Mexico can be a bit unsafe in terms of scams and thieves.
Written January 15, 2025
The tour is very safe. I never once felt otherwise. The bus is a big commercial bus with a professional driver and guide. This is a very popular trip and there are dozens and dozens of busses full of people going daily. Now there is always risk when traveling and you can never know when a one off event will occur. I would not hesitate to go again. In fact I went 30 years ago during the equinox. I would not be concerned for safety but more so be prepared for sun and how to manage hydration. I hope that helps.

Can you buy the Chichen Itza entrance ticket online beforehand instead of paying on the bus?
Written January 5, 2025
You can, but then you will have to wait on a separate line to get in. With the tour group, you will be allowed in and they will get the ticket for you.

Hola. Podemos comenzar en Akumal y terminar cerca del aeropuerto de Cancún? En un minivan para 10 personas?

Would you say its worth the money?

This trip is definitely worth the money. Where else can you get 12 hours of entertainment, history and good times for so little. It's a bargain.
