Excellent tour guide on Johnston canyon
I went to Johnston Canyon on this tour on last week (11/23/2023). My guide, Nicole, was so friendly and explained in detail the history of Banff and the canyon, which I did not know about and it was very interesting and informative. I feel like my trip has been enriched by this tour guide. When I travel to places where I don't know much about, especially museums and arts, I tend to use a tour guide, but my friend who went with me said this was his first guided tour and he really liked it. I highly recommend this tour.

Our family had a great visit to the Johnston Canyon with Discover Banff Tours! Our guide, Buck, was very knowledgeable about the area and made the hike really fun. The kids loved him!

    Beautiful tour
The canyon was gorgeous in the snow. Tour guides Nicole and Eli gave us lots of great information on the area's history, natural history, etc, plus hot chocolate at the top!

    Short on immersive historical storytelling
We booked a group of five on a recent weekend trip. Our guide was on time and did a good job keeping the group together and reminding everyone of safety rules, and performed in bad conditions when a sudden wet snowfall affected most of the walk. They also did their best to perform the script and put in good effort. Where the tour fell short of our expectations was the depth of historical detail in the script, and the quality of delivery, as I would have expected a performance on a similar level to a seasoned amateur actor, with tickets being $40 per person. We couldn’t recommend it as an immersive, engaging experience.

    Breathtaking
Lake Louise was beautiful. The water so clean and clear. Trees were turned golden yellow among the green pines. Just breathtaking.

Magical Lake Louise and a great guide
This turned out to be a bit of a magical, if freezing, tour to Lake Louise. Jeff, our tour guide, was excellent. He gave us stories about the area and historical information, as well as (when asked) stories of his own hiking adventures, which were wonderful to hear. This tour was on the Tuesday after a snow storm on the Monday night so I liked it when Jeff said he would let us take in the view (and he stop talking) when we got onto the highway so that he could concentrate on the traffic and road conditions. The tour consists mainly of the drive up to Lake Louise - with us viewing some gorgeous snow covered scenery on the way - and then about an hour at Lake Louise before the drive back to Banff. It was sooo cold at Lake Louise! Jeff offered to take photos of each of us or our groups in front of the Lake and he takes a great photo! I was so happy with my photo. As a solo traveller it was nice to have more than just a selfie of me at the Lake. I walked a little way around the Lake to get some amazing photos to send to friends and family. On returning to the bus, Jeff had hot chocolate and maple cookies for us. When we returned to Banff, Jeff happily dropped us at our respective hotels. Overall, it was a real delight to see Lake Louise and Jeff is a very professional and friendly tour guide. Thanks Jeff!

Immersive experience with an exceptional tour!
I had the pleasure of experiencing an unforgettable hiking tour in Banff National Park with Discover Banff Tours. I booked the guided hike from Moraine Lake to Larch Valley. Our guide Phoebe was exceptional, combining deep knowledge of the area's history with insightful explanations about the local ecology, enriching our journey through this stunning landscape. Her passion and expertise transformed the hike into a unique learning experience, allowing us to truly immerse ourselves in the rugged beauty of Banff. It was truly a breathtaking experience in combination with the vibrant Fall colours and the snow-capped Rockies, which painted a magnificent picture! Hiking poles were provided and the packed lunch was absolutely delicious. I can't recommend Discover Banff enough for anyone looking to explore and gain a deeper understanding of this magnificent location.

    Good sightseeing tour
The tour guide was excellent and very informative (especially impressive considering she was Australian and not local) we didn’t see any wildlife unfortunately and the places we stopped would not typically be where you would expect wildlife so maybe the tour should be just called Bsnff sightseeing instead. It was still a great tour and worth it but start to finish was probably around 2.5 hours.

    Amazing Private Tour!!!
What a wonderful experience!!! Our private tour to Lake Louise+Yoho National Park was amazing and well worth it...5 stars doesn't do it justice!!!! Our guide, Liam, went above and beyond. He took us everywhere we had expected to go and then some. He was extremely knowledgeable, sweet, personable and professional, and, despite the outstanding natural beauty, the trip wouldn't have been the same without him...Thank you DiscoverBanff+Liam!!!!!

    Wonderful excursion for the Fall
Piper and Kelsey, our awesome tour guides! We really enjoyed the knowledge that they shared with us and wish them all the best! Lake Louise was lovely of course - greatly enhanced by being with them instead of on our own. We were picked up and dropped off promptly at our hotel the Moose Inn. All communication was timely and responsive. Recommend!

We booked a Discover Banff Tours guided walk through a third party. Unfortunately there was confusion over the start time (7:45 vs 8:00am) and we watched the bus drive away as we ran down the road. We called immediately at 8:00am and spoke to the supervisor but we were informed the bus couldn’t turn round. We asked if our booking could be moved to the following or another day with availability but this was refused and their only offer was for us to pay in full again and contact the third party based in England, not withstanding we were in Banff and we had already paid close to Ca$600 for the trip. We declined. We understand things can go wrong, but great companies try to help their clients when things don’t go to plan. In our experience, Discover Banff will not try to help and will place the full loss and burden of responsibility on you, their customer and we would therefore not recommend them to fellow travellers.

Hello, Thank you for the review. All of our booking confirmations state to arrive 15 minutes before tour times starts. We did not have a contact number or email for you so we were not able to reach you before the tour time. Unfortunately, our guide waited as long as they could for you but as you arrived after the tour start time, the guide was not able to turn back after the tour started. We apologize for your experience and hope the rest of your trip to Banff was still enjoyable.

Tim was awesome as our guide for the Hike of the Plain of 6 Glaciers. He was patient, knowledgeable, entertaining and personable. This was a hard hike that led to the glaciers and Plain of Six Tea House where we had lunch. The views were spectacular starting with Lake Louise up to the glaciers. The group was awesome which made it that greater of a hike. We would recommend this hike as a must do. We went on June 16th and were surprised by snow that had just fallen a few days before. Please request Tim as your guide for this hike. You will not be disappointed. Recommended by 2 from N.C.

We had a wonderful day hike to Stanley Glacier with our guide Jeff while visiting Banff. He was so full of information about the area and it’s wildlife yet never in a way that was too much. He also had a good sense of humor; a pretty critical piece for us! We felt very lucky to have him as our guide and I highly recommend Discover Banff Tours based on our experience.
It was a bit smoky from a fire outside of Jasper the day we hiked, did not lessen our enjoyment of the experience a bit!

Francis took a small walking group on an 8 km hike from Lake Morrain. Just nine of us. Very professionally led and hugely enjoyable with magnificent scenery. Francis led us at a reasonable pace and as it was quite steeply uphill provided regular water stops. Exhausting but so hlad I did it.

Our guide Kelsey made the trip interesting, informative and relaxing. Set a pace that the slowest of our group was able to maintain as well, which was much appreciated, she took turns walking with each individual as well as carrying on a conversation. She was/is an excellent guide and I would not hesitate to return for any of the tours led by her.

The guide Kelsey was positive, energized, knowledgeable and made our hiking experience fun.

As our hiking day trails were changed overnight, it was very new for our tour guide as well. The experience was completed without issues. It was nice and the mountains were beautiful.

We had to park at the Hotel where we were picked up- please advise in your brochure…. It was an extra expense plus it was very difficult to find parking in Banff.

A great day out with the guide doing the plain of the six glaciers hike. The guide was knowledgable, friendly and helpful. He ensured our safety was a priority and had lots of insight into the history of Banff, it’s wildlife and the surrounding areas. We were picked up on time, the lunch was delicious and we completed the hike in good time. We can’t recommend this hike enough!

Our original hike was changed due to snow on the trail. Instead we hiked to the Yamnuska shoulder.
Anicka, our excellent guide, displayed experience, patience, a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna and a great sense of humor.
She turned our 1600 foot elevation gain into a breeze!
Highly recommend her and the company.

I had a great experience in this hiking. We had a great guide, Anikee (hope her name is well written). She was enthusiastic, well prepared and she explained some of the history of the place.
The hiking it´s mid level.
The lunch is well served (sandwich, chips, brownies, juice, apple delicious).
Anikee gave us sticks for all that needed it and also some buff to cover from the sun and wind and all.
And most important the group vibe was the best! Our guide created a great atmosphere for our special day together.
I highly recommend you the plein of 6 glaciers in spring. It´s not difficult and you can still see a bit of snow.

This is a must do if you're in Banff. Signed up for the Stanley Glacier hike. Our guide Kelsey was very friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly, very accomodating. My mom was having some trouble since the switches on the mountain were more challenging than anticipated - Kelsey was patient and took lots of breaks to make sure she didnt feel rushed and had enough time to catch her breath when needed. Seriously, you cant go wrong with discover banff tours - they're professional and knowledgeable.
