Jeff was really great and informative in telling us about the history of the park and what is being done to preserve the wildlife in the area and reintroduce wildlife that had been hunted to extinction in the park generations past.
We saw elk bucks, a sow and her calves, mule deer and a big horn ram. We also ended up seeing some of the lakes we wouldn't have gotten the chance to see on our short trip into Banff so it was an added bonus!

Our tour of wildlife in the Banff area was super. We saw lots of animals. Loved the big horn sheep particularly. Our guide was very well informed. She told us a lot about the animals and the habitat and about some of the politics involved in caring for such a special environment. The scenery was also outstanding.

Our tour guide was really great and he shared many great wildlife facts and stories from his experiences.
The bad part was that we didn’t get to see much wildlife other than deers. They did say it’s hit or miss so I guess we weren’t that lucky that day…

The tour bus has tinted glass windows and the tour is in the evening at 7.00 pm The tour is more like informative rather then wild life viewing. There were two scenic stops for over all more then 25 minutes. Not worth money, it’s a different story we were unlucky except to spot a couple of Elk and few Big Horn ships and the tinted windows did a pretty bad job in taking any nice pictures.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the Evening Wildlife Safari. This tour changes each night, and takes guests to wherever we've been lucky enough to see animals lately in Banff. The animals are wild and move about on their own, but we're glad to hear that you were able to see bighorn sheep and elk. Along with deer, these are the most common animal sightings that we have in Banff during peak summer. Our guides do enjoy sharing their local wildlife knowledge with guests during the tour, and will always make a few scenic stops along the way so that guests can stretch their legs and enjoy the evening scenery. While our guides will always try to stop or pull over so that guests can view wildlife, it's not always safe for guests to disembark the vehicle as we must maintain a safe distance.
We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.

My daughter and I went on the wildlife Safari it was a great experience. Our guide took us to spots that we would most likely never have thought to go to see the wildlife. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, wildlife and history of the park. We would definitely do this tour again and also other tours they have available. Well worth taking this tour.

We unfortunately did not see much wildlife but our guide”Rob” or “Rod” (sorry don’t remember) was so knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Banff National Park, which made us love the place even more! We learned a lot of cool facts about the animals also. I think the price is a bit steep and they should rename the tour to site seeing. But otherwise we enjoyed it.

The coach is very comfortable with wide windows for sight seeing. Annick was our excellent guide and interpreter very knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see some animals, but unfortunately not the elusive grizzly. Well worth it.

Hi Christophe,
Your group has now left multiple TripAdvisor and Facebook reviews regarding this incident. We will be responding to all of them, as the behaviour you displayed was unacceptable.
Your booking through Viator told you to be ready for your tour 15 minutes before the 7:30pm departure time. This is so we can pick up all our guests at different locations around Banff, and start the tour promptly.
Our guide arrived at your pickup destination at 7:13, and after waiting for 13 minutes and trying to contact you 4 times, (with no answer or option for voicemail) departed your pickup location at 7:25, as they had other guests waiting to be picked up. So you were not there 10 minutes before, nor even 5 minutes before. Our duty is to provide the best experience to the guest on board, and making them wait any longer would have impacted that.
Your group of nine people then proceeded to enter our Reservations Store, yelling, swearing, threatening, being rude and entering employee only areas, while our staff of three were trying to serve other customers, who you were also intimidating. Your group kept this up for an hour and a half until our store had to close at 9:00pm.
Our policy - like most companies - is that there are no refunds for missed tours & activities, although we may be able to reschedule on a case-by-case basis. However, due to your groups 1.5 hours of rude and intimidating behaviour towards our reservation store staff and customers, we are politely declining to offer you this courtesy.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.

This 2 hour evening tour (which got a late start and stretched to 2 1/2 hours because of pick-ups and drop offs) started with our driver guide telling us Banff was located in a wildlife corridor, that there were plenty of animals in the area, and because they did this tour every night, they knew where to find them. The tour ended with two sightings of elk feeding along the side of the road.
You can’t predict wildlife, so my issue is not with the lack of sightings, but with where they took us. First stop was the hoodoo view point, where if there were any animals down below, you would need binoculars to spot them. Second stop was an open field where we stood around a display for 30 minutes listening to a talk about all of the wildlife we were going to see. After some fruitless driving around our last stop was the top of Mount Norquay and the view point which provided a nice view of the town of Banff, FAR BELOW, but no wildlife sightings. Maybe other groups had better luck, but I think Discover Banff needs to stop wasting time going to view points, which should be included in other tours, and maybe send some staff out with radios or cell phones to areas where animal have been sighted in the past, after all, Banff is in a wildlife corridor and Discover Banff does this tour every night...

Hi Andy,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the Evening Wildlife Safari. Our guides keep detailed notes of where animals have been sighted lately, which is where they then take guests to, although we can never guarantee if or what animals we may be lucky to see each evening. Unfortunately the wildlife are 'wild' and may not always remain where we have recently sighted them, although we do often see wildlife along the drive to the hoodoos viewpoint and at Mt Norquay where you visited on the tour. Many of our guests enjoy learning about the park's local residents and having the opportunity to see and touch rare animal artefacts during the stop that you mentioned, we're sorry to hear that you didn't see the value in this part of the tour. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Banff.

A couple of questions: 1. Do we get to leave the bus and walk around at all? and 2. Is it still light enough (July 2) to photograph if we do see any wildlife? and 3. What are the mosquitoes like?
DiscoverBanffTours

Hello,
Thank you for your question and apologies for the delayed reply, as we aren't notified of these at the moment. We usually make several stops along the way, where guests can get out and stretch their legs and enjoy various viewpoints (and usually one restroom stop). The tour is timed throughout the season to align with the sunset, so that there is still some light during the time to allow guests to be able to see. And there can be some mosquitos at that time of year, so you're welcome to bring your spray with you.

Hello, there's no minimum number to book this tour, however please bear in mind that we do require a total of four people booked for the tour to run. Tours are rarely cancelled due to not meeting minimum numbers, but we do ask all guests to give us a call the evening prior to confirm their tour.

What about photography?
DiscoverBanffTours
Banff, Canada2 contributions
Hi Robert,
Thank you for your question. You will be on the bus for the majority of the tour, so it's most likely that you would be taking photographs through the tinted bus windows. There are always several scenic stops along the way where you can also get some great evening shots, but you would only be allowed off the bus to photograph wildlife if it's safe to do so and abiding by Parks Canada's distance recommendations. Many photographers prefer a private tour, which we can also offer.

Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry. The evening is the best time of day to see wildlife, as they are most active at dawn and dusk when it's cooler.
This is the best wildlife tour of Banff, and we see wildlife on 95% of these tours. We never know what we may be lucky enough to see, but our guides will vary the route each night to where we have spotted animals lately.

Thank you for your question. This tour picks up at most hotels in Banff, and so we would pick you up either at your hotel or one next door to it. Our reservations team are more than happy to help you select the closest pickup point to where you are staying.
