      Interesting night walk
Interesting to see the frozen waterfall in winter and guide did good job to explain and show us about the different landscapes and stream. Night walk with cleats was an interesting experience than walking in the noon.

Phenomenal walk, with knowledgeable, friendly expert guides.
Amazing walk, made hugely more enjoyable and informative with our guides (one in training). They knew so much about the area, physical and human geography - and way beyond the “standard script”. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Make a killing!! If I had all this ice in Texas!!
Once in a life time experience!! I would say.. from someone who lives in the oven and travel to the ice box!! Ive done trails at +100° to now -0°... like i said before life time experience... for someone who is not accustomed to being in a cold climate it can be a bit apprehensive... but i did it!! wonderful guide, great tips as far as hiking this trail !! and didn't let me quit... i just wanted to reach the lower falls and that would of been fine for me!! Try not to over layer even in the cold your body will begin to over heat!! yes it made me sweat... but a wonderful experience!! oh if really cold temps you might want to double on you socks only part that i felt cold but on the way down had a reverse affect??

      Great tour! Highly recommend
I had an amazing time. Booking an appointment was a breeze. Even though I arrived a bit late at the meeting point, our tour guide patiently waited for me. The pickup and drop-off locations were incredibly convenient. Our guide, who I believe was named Molly or Nicole, was not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also very friendly and professional. I'm genuinely thankful for such a fantastic experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

      Discover Grizzly bear tour!
Had a fantastic tour with Andrew going around Yoho national park and seeing Boo the bear. Andrew was a great tour leader, friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fantastic at keeping the tour on track 👌🏻 Loved hearing about the bears of Banff and learning the difference between black and grizzly. The only thing I didn’t realise was quite how much of the day was taken up by driving (just about half), as I couldn’t see this mentioned in the description of the tour. However, Andrew provided great narration to pass by the time and there were stops along the way at various land marks where you could take photos and have a comfort break. It was incredible seeing Boo the grizzly bear and learning about all the conservation. Really good experience.

      Snowshoeing to Paint Pots
Emma, our guide, was great. She had a lot of knowledge and she made the tour fun - she even got me to agree to toboggan down a hill! The scenery was stunning and it was a lovely sunny day (although sadly too warm to make maple taffy in the snow). Being a small group (something this tour company specialises in) made it more enjoyable and I would highly recommend this tour.

      Johnston Canyon Icewalk
Having gone on the Johnston Canyon Evening Icewalk on a previous holiday we wanted to go back in the daytime for a different view/experience. Max, our guide, was fantastic. He was very friendly and engaging and made the trip very enjoyable. The scenery was stunning. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody visiting the Banff area.

Winter Tour: Banff and Its Wildlife
Emma, our guide, was great. She was very friendly and as she drove us around to different locations she told us a lot about the history of Banff and the locations we went to. There were a lot of photo opportunities of stunning scenery. We were also lucky enough to see some of the local wildlife including elk. Would highly recommend this tour.

      Great tour!
This was a wonderful tour! The drive wasn't too far out of central Banff. It was warmer than usual in Banff but the location of our tour had fresh snow. The hike was beautiful and not too challenging, mostly flat. Very informative with great tour guides. Also had a great group of people on our tour. Would definitely recommend.

      Wonderful Tour!
This tour was wonderful! We were with Phoebe and she challenged us not to use our head lamps by the end of the tour. Halfway through the tour, no one had them on and we were only walking by the light of the snow. It was wonderful! So beautiful and peaceful and SILENT! I recommend for sure!

      A stunning half day out
Walking on a frozen lake was surreal and the views were stunning! Some amazing photo opportunities and got to have a look inside the Fairmont. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the drive there and back, and we were given just the right amount of time at the lake

A must-do tour when in Banff!!
The views were absolutely stunning and we were given ample time to stop and take photos. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and catered for the pace of the group very well! Is 100% a tour I would recommend, I’m still mind blown from what we saw in the canyon. The walk was relatively easy as well, a grand total of 3 gentle hills that weren’t that taxing

Got picked up from our hotel and driven out to Grotto Canyon with no problems. But our guide, who was about twice my height and hence would do 2 steps to my 4, just took off right from the very beginning. Although I am a senior, I know I can walk the distance and have done much more walking in a day but not at all at this pace, with heavy ice cleats on, through powder snow (there was no ice walking for us as it had snowed). I got behind right from the start. He told us when we were in the canyon out of the wind, that we could slow down. That did not happen, he kept going at pace. He would stop every so often for my adult son & I to catch up but as soon as we did, he took off again. If this tour has to go at this pace, it should be mentioned in the advertisement. I would never go again. It was certainly NOT a walk.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to write your concerns with your Grotto Icewalk experience. Taking in this information we will be connecting with our guiding team to review checking in with all of our guests multiple times throughout the tour to make sure everyone is handling the walking pace. This is good reminder to our team to watch the pace. Our goal with these tours is to have fun, to get to know those joining our tour experience, and to get a bit of exercise. We certainly do not want folks to feel as if the activity is a race. We like to take our time, point out and share the features of the location that make it special. And Grotto Canyon has wonderful stories to tell. For all of our guests that participate on our ice walks we do walk at approximately 1.75 miles, or 3 kilometres per hour, and most of our trips we are physically walking for over 2 hours of time, there is also elevation gain to be aware of. So important for folks to be aware of this when booking the tour. So thank you again for addressing your concerns so that guides and guests can put them into consideration, when running and or joining our tours. We hope you enjoyed the remainder of your time in the Canadian Rockies.

Having done an ice walk in Jasper previously, we were excited at the prospect of another outing. Our guide, Anick, was friendly, funny, personable and very knowledgeable. Our family appreciated the extra insights into the ecology, history, and geology of the canyon - something we wouldn't have enjoyed without her help. And we definitely would have walked right past the petroglyphs and never learned the fascinating history associated with the markings matching those found in the southwestern US. Thanks for a great experience!

My tour guide, Becca, made our tour so much fun! She included everyone in the group and stopped by whenever we saw wildlife! She actually dropped us off closer to the restaurant we were trying to get to (instead of our hotel), which was very kind of her! The tour itself was absolutely amazing! I would 110% recommend it! We were provided with a walking pole and cleats for the ice (which were alright, not the best). The walk itself was very cold, so dress warm! A lot of people were wearing snow pants and looked way warmer than me (wearing tights), but I lived! It does get warmer once you’re in the grotto on the ice. The ice itself was very slippery at points, and the ice cleats didn’t help a lot, but they’re better than not having anything at all (also they’re free and included with the tour). We even saw some ice climbers along the way, which was fun to watch! The walk itself is free, but we decided to take this tour because: 1. they picked and dropped you off, and we didn’t have a car so this was a plus, and 2. having a tour would be very informative and more fun! Also, we weren’t trying to get lost! I wish we stayed longer so we could have gone on many more tours with Discover Banff, but maybe next time!

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the Grotto Canyon Icewalk with Tyler. This lessor known trail is one of our favourites in winter - it almost seems as if no-one knows about it other than ice climbers that we sometimes see! We're so glad you enjoyed the hike as much as we do, and will be sure to pass on your kind words to Tyler. We hope to see you back again in Banff.

This tour was fantastic. Matt was very excited to take us out as the first group of the season, which made it more exciting because he was excited! The walk was awesome, we had plenty of time to stop and take photos and talk about different parts of the Canyon. I loved seeing the pictographs and walking on the ice. I had done the Johnston Canyon tour the day before and felt rushed and that there were too many tour groups out there. This tour was great because it was a smaller group and we didn’t see anyone until we were almost back to the car park! Thanks to Matt and our awesome group for making my day!

Hi there, Thank you for joining us on the Grotto Canyon Icewalk with Matt, and for sharing your experience and photos. We're so glad you loved the canyon as much as we do and hope to see you again soon.
