    Amazing views!
Spectacular view. Walking in the wood board. Amazing views from every angle. We have lunch in the buffet restaurant, they didn't have a great variarity but the dishes were really good. It was worth it!

See the rockies from the top- even if you don't ski- and reserve the fine dining
It was a great experience, especially because it was a clear day with great views in February. Getting on the gondola was EASY and quick access. We could go ahead of our scheduled time and there were no lines to speak of. Beautiful views going and at the top. The restaurant was wonderful- don't miss the french fries! Cocktails were fun and excellent as well.

Amazing Experience - Well Worth It!
Amazing experience in the middle of winter from the Gondola to the restaurant atop Sulphur Mountain. To top it off, there was an amazing night scene filled with music and good melody. FREEZING but well worth the trip. And as a cherry on top, they feature an amazing "Dark Sky and Telescopes" experience where you're able to view the planets and stars from a telescope. Amazing and memorable experience.

    Great experience
We so enjoyed this experience ! Firstly, the ride there using the local Roam bus is easy and cheap. Secondly, the gondola views are quite special as you ascend and descend the mountain and with two people per gondola it felt very private. Thirdly, once at the top you can walk maybe 15 minutes across to an observation point. Many other visitors did not appear to appreciate this outdoor walk as it was - as expected - very cold - so do wrap up to get even better, leisurely views of Banff and the surrounding ranges.

    Do the gondola-dinner combo
We did a combo deal that included gondola and buffet dinner at Northern Lights — it ran about CAN$103/person. This worked out great — we were “uploaded” about 70 minutes before our dinner reservation. This gave us enough time to walk out to Samson Peak and enjoy the boardwalk scenery before we ate. Then we could dine as the sun went down and lights of Banff came on. We didnt spend much time in exhibits or store, but those are other ways to enhance your visit and make it worth the rather steep price.

    Absolutely worth it
There four of us including a handicap person. We made our reservation time then waited approximately 10 minutes in line. There was no handicap parking available, but after dropping Mrs. Shamaal off I cruised the parking lot until a spot became available. As we were in no rush this became part of the experience. The entire staff were a delight to be around and clearly enjoyed their jobs, despite the occasional cranky tourist. The view from the top was amazing and the Shamaalinas walked all the way to the summit platform. Of special mention is the free toasting marshmallows, fire pits and children cookie decoration on the fourth floor observation platform.

    Terrible.
Absolutely terrible staff. I’ve lived in this town for 5 years and gotten my friends and parents who visit tickets no problem with a locals discount the lady at the staff said that apparently it’s impossible. How are my parents who are visiting for 1 day supposed to get a banff id. Absolutely ridiculous staff, and company.

    Disappointed by nightrise event
We went after dark for the nightrise event. It was disappointing as you couldn’t see any of the views of the mountains. The event was just some projected lights in the ground and walls along with some music. Didn’t feel like i got my moneys worth in fact i felt tricked to spend it at a time where probably they get no business and this was a gimmick to get gullible people to spend money at the least profitable time in the day for them

Went to see the sunset over the amazing mountainous landscape
The gondola ride is a lot of fun. The drop off point at the top is spectacular. Love it that you can take a long walk out to the weather station. Or have a hot drink inside. Nice exhibits. Fun experience for the family. We experienced the Chef's tasting dinner and that was lovely.

    Great experience
We managed to choose the day with sunshine forecast in amongst the rainy days to take the gondola up Sulphur Mountain. The ROAM bus number 1 from Downtown was the best option for travel, removing any concerns about finding a parking space. The ride up was easy with the view improving all the time but that was nothing compared with the views from the top. The view of Banff town, nestled among the surrounding mountains was great, particularly as we were blessed with beautiful sunshine. The walk to the Cosmic Ray station was longer than expected but easy over the decking with great views from the many platforms on the way. All in all, a great experience.

VISIT THE BANFF GONDOLA- THE VIEWS ARE MAGNIFICENT.
Sit on the benches outside and take in the view. It's stunning and it's well organised. You can pre-book your time slot before your holiday begins!

    Awesome views
The gondola and the views from the top were amazing. We had about 2 hours on top. A quick 15-minute ride up and time at the top to walk all the way around and also hike up to the Cosmic Ray station for even better views. Even had a little time to check out the exhibits about the area inside. It had been threatening rain most of the day but luckily it held off.

A great start to our Banff vacation!
This was our first day in Banff. The views were spectacular. The size of the valleys are so much bigger than the BC Coastal mountains and the Rockies are very majestic mountains. The combination was breathtaking! The top of Sulphur Mountain provided those spectacular views. The summit amenities were first class including the Sky Bistro.

Banff gondola is accessible via the Roam Transit shuttle. Depending on the time of day, the bus can be very crowded. I would recommend pre-booking your Gondola ticket so you can just jump in the queue on your arrival. The line moved quickly as did the gondola, before we knew it we were on top of the mountain overlooking beautiful Banff. What I liked about the gondola is that they didn't put you with random strangers, only the people in your group were in each gondola carriage.
The view from the top was magic. We also had pre-booked dinner at the Northern Lights Kitchen. This was buffet style and the food was ok, best part was the view. The restaurant is very busy and bookings are essential. Definitely recommend doing this activity if staying in Banff.

During our recent trip to Banff, I was able to try all four gondolas, ie Banff, Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise. Hands down, Banff Gondola was the best gondola experience of the four.
Parking was a concern, especially during particularly busy times but we were fortunate to find a parking spot.
The Roam Public Transit bus #1 to Sulphur Mountain travels from the town of Banff to the Banff Gondola approximately every 23 minutes and is an alternative way to get to the Gondola if you don't want to take a risk that there will not be any parking.
The gondola ride is a quick 8 minutes or so from bottom to the top. The gondola moves quite quickly but the ride was smooth, even during the windy day we went up the mountain. We had a couple of people in our group that were definitely apprehensive about riding the gondola/fear of heights but were happy that they overcame these fears to take this ride.
The facilities at the top of the mountain are outstanding and provide spectacular 360 degree views, to include views of the town of Banff and Fairmount Hotel.
I especially liked taking the boardwalk to the top of Sulphur Mountain. The roundtrip time for this walk was approximately 40 minutes, with lots of stops for photos.
We also had some drinks at the Northern Lights Kitchen and were fortunate to have a table next to the window.
The fourth floor rooftop of the facility also provides a number of chairs/picnic tables to sit at and soak in the views.
Even though our tickets were timed, the attendants let us go up at an earlier time and return from the mountain top at an earlier time as well.
For Starbuck fans, there is a Starbucks cafe at the bottom of the gondola.
Overall, this was a great experience for the family.
If you are limited by time and can only experience one gondola ride while in Banff, I highly recommend that you take the Banff Gondola as the one you ride.

Thus was a last minute decision only booked the day before via our hotel.
There weren't a lot of time slots left so we chose the first one at 8.10am and got the local Roam 1 bus there (price included in admission).
We were the first to go up in the Gondola with a couple and decided to go to the viewing deck first so had it to ourselves as most people started going along the boardwalk to the Cosmic Ray Station.
The views from the viewing deck were spectacular and you even had chance to have a picture with the bear.
We then got a hot chocolate from the cafe and walked the boardwalk to Sansons Peak and the Cosmic Ray Station, again the views were spectacular and you got to see some wildlife, we saw a long horned sheep, a nut cracker bird and lots of animal prints in the snow (yes it was June, fairly warm, very sunny with blue skies).
The ride up and down in the Gondola was smooth and went very quickly with great views.
This is a definite must if visiting Banff (though do book in advance).

Parking is an issue- plan to take the public bus
Very crowded- felt like a cow going to slaughter
Loud music everywhere ruined any nature experience
If you enjoy being in the mall the day after US thanksgiving, then this might be a good option. If you want to experience nature, avoid this place.

The experience disconnects you from nature and feels more like being in a shopping mall anywhere in the US than a nature center. Pursuit is obviously profit based and will do anything to make a buck. There is loud oldies music when you are on the observation deck and in the building. If you are there to enjoy nature forget about it. I couldn’t hear the birds or see much wildlife (likely because of the music blaring everywhere). We were herded along the boardwalk like cows to the slaughter. The chipmunks that were brave enough to get close to the board walk were scared away by the hundreds of feet shuffling past. Save your money and go out to a real nature site where you can experience the beauty of nature without all the hassles of the city (crowds, no where to park, expensive but poor quality experiences).

The night before our tour, I received an email informing me that there was not enough parking at the gondola and I should park miles from the destination and take the public bus there. Trying to figure that out the night before was so stressful. Roam bus system is confusing. I tried to cancel or at least change to a later time to allow for more time to rearrange our plans to account for the additional hassle of the parking issue. But tickets are non-refundable and because they change the price constantly, would have cost over $40 to move it to a later time that same day. What should have been just a 30 min drive to the gondola became a 90 min commute to the destination, causing us to have to cancel the earlier activity to accommodate this one.

I regret this experience and will be avoiding anything to do with Pursuit in the future.

A great way to see Banff from a spectacular vantage point. The Banff gondola is efficient, clean, comfortable and well worth what we spent on it. The views from the top were outstanding! We also made reservations at the mountaintop restaurant on Open Table and the meal was fantastic (tables book up quickly, so make your dinner reservations a month in advance!).

Access to the gondola is very easy and parking is quite large. We went during our holidays but the price is quite expensive for two adults and a teenager for the 1 hour back that we have to visit upstairs. We still enjoyed the buffet of the Northern Lights restaurant ($45 for adults and $23 for children).
I recommend the experience despite the price because the view is amazing.

I'm so glad we reserved this months in advance. The views were outstanding and the staff, very efficient and friendly. The reason that's important is the crowds. This placed was jammed with people. I was surprised by how many people were there. Despite that, it was orderly, and the staff were on the ball. At the top, I think unless you're eating a full meal, 90 minutes up on top of the mountain is enough. We took the walk over to the historic weather station and former cosmic ray station (fascinating history) took some pictures and headed back down. Some people were hiking up instead of taking the gondola. It didn't look like a bad hike, but the gondola I'm sure had much better views. They seat four people, and riding with two strangers was fun as we got to talk with them a bit. When they say the parking lot fills up, they mean it. We took the free shuttle from town, and that's the way to go, especially for a late afternoon ride like we had booked. We probably wouldn't do this again. Not because of anything negative about the experience, but just because a second gondola ride wouldn't show us anything different.

we went on a Monday in off season when it was not busy which was nice as there was no wait...there was a discount for Alberta residents. Ride was smooth and loved the scenery and observations decks. there is a hike up on the board walk you need to be in shape for this in my opinion. we bought the picture they took of us at the end in the gondola. it was 30.00 for a 5 x7 and half off for the second picture. nice gift shop at the top got a nice wood carving. the only thing we did not like was our visit to the restaurant it closes between 2 and 4 which we did not know this and we were very hungry for more than cake and coffee on main floor. It is very expensive to do this attraction it was 76.00 each and we could not properly use the restaurant on top which was a real downer...will do review for that on the restaurant site. We went at 145 before they closed and when they said we could not dine i asked for take out and they said no but i insisted on at least 4 orders of fries in a to go box at the very least so we had something hot to tide us over. Eventually they let us come in a sit and order a drink while they continued to serve delicious looking meals to everyone else who came in just before us. they provided us with a large box of the best homemade fries to split between 6 and we did not have to pay. i would try this restaurant again and be mindful of the closing time.

Buy tickets in advance and show up at the designated time are the only sure warning signs of the popularity of this attraction. Other than the immensely popular downtown Banff and the lesser hot springs, the gondola ride 7420 feet up Mount Sulphur is the number one attraction for nearly every visitor that comes to Banff and when you reach the top you will understand why. As if the thrilling ride wasn’t enough the view at the top is unmatched by anything I’ve ever seen. The otherworldly vista dwarfs the entire town of Banff and the surrounding valley. The majesty of the Canadian Rockies is on full display from this altitude. The picture postcard views are 360 degrees with mother nature’s elegance on full display from every angle. The peaks observatory seems uncrowded regardless of the number of people around you. The view will overload your senses unless you’re used to such over the top scenery.

A coffee shop, restaurant, a gift shop and rest rooms make up the rest of the observatory. Have a reservation if you plan on eating here. The 2-hour time span we elected for, forced us to descend from those amazing views, it seemed to be plenty of time to see all there is and take a boat load of pictures, yet I felt myself wishing I could stay longer. We visited in the spring (June) and winter attire isn’t just suggested its required. Snow still clung to the mountain and the surrounding observation platforms and the biting cold winds made it feel colder than it actually was. The Adirondak chairs on the deck were a welcome place to relax while taking in the view.

We arrived earlier than our preselected time but the friendly attendant directed us to the ticket window where they gladly issued us a revised ticket. The mostly young people working at the Sulphur Mountain Gondolas were pleasant and helpful and the whole operation ran smooth and was a real pleasure to visit. The descent ended with you “exiting to the left through the gift shop.” The local public transportation “The Path” was the most convenient way to reach the gondolas, pulling directly up to the que, it was a bit crowded even in the spring, I couldn’t imagine the congestion in the summer. The Sulphur Mountain gondolas is a must-see attraction when in Banff.

As a group of 10 with ages from 12-65 we booked the combo gondola ride and Northern Lights buffet. I recommend booking in advance if you plan to eat up top (which has an amazing view), as we noticed the restaurant was fully booked and seating was only given to those with reservations. Overall it was a nice trip and view, but only about half of our group felt that they would choose to do this again; the price didn't seem worth the value to everyone. In fairness, we had a few in the group that had aversions to heights so that didn't help the experience.
