- gracecR5117WV0 contributionsAmazing snowshoeing experience, highly recommend it!I had THE BEST TIME doing this activity and I highly recommend it to everybody! The level of fitness required was moderate for someone who has never snowshoed in deep snow before but don't let that or the cold deter you because it is worth the amazing views. Definitely bundle up because the "top of the world" is cold. My group's guides, Scott and Emilio, were awesome - very knowledgeable, friendly and made sure we were all safe at all times. Again, super fun and well worth it 100%!!Written December 23, 2024
- S8517LCmarks0 contributionsA Magical Walk through Johnston CanyonMy wife and I had a great tour of Johnston Canyon with Scott as our guide. The ice-covered waterfalls were spectacular and the hike through the canyon was wonderful. Scott made the trip special. He was very friendly and personable and also knowledgeable about the area. He was attentive to the group and made sure to check on us (toes and fingers too cold?) and make sure he kept a pace comfortable to all of us. We highly recommend Scott and White Mountain Adventures for an icewalk through Johnston Canyon.Written December 19, 2024

- rcty0 contributionsGreat guide, great hike, great timeMy partner and I only had one day to visit Banff in our unfortunately short trip to Alberta, and we were so glad we joined this tour instead of other tours! We really enjoyed the hike to Consolation Lakes as it was less crowded and we felt more immersed in the nature beauty. (The hike was mostly flat and not super physical demanding, but would warrant proper clothing and hiking shoes for the rocks and boulders) Our guide Chris was wonderful- very professional, knowledge, and great to talk with. With all the nature, trail walking, chatting and learning from the guide, we felt this was a truly enjoyable experience and would love to tour with our guide again if we ever get the chance. Oh and pretty nice sandwich.Written October 17, 2024
- X2836EVmariep0 contributionsAmazing Rainbow RideWe had an amazing rainbow ride! Tevo and Pablo were fantastic guides. They helped us all figure out how to use the bikes and took us on a wonderful ride around where we saw spectacular sights of the river and surrounding forest. They made the whole group for like a family. We had a great time together and saw a coyote, ducks, and lots of elk!Written October 8, 2024
- 66dinahw0 contributionsGreat way to see Johnston Canyon and the scenic parkway in Banff NP.Fantastic hike to Johnston Canyon with Megan. She was very knowledgeable and took her time with our group of 8 as we were all at different levels of fitness. She even took the time to take one of our group back to our cabins as they didn't want to do the e-bike portion of the tour. Our e-bike tour with Kristi was perfect. The e-bikes are some of the best we have ridden. She took the time to take group photos and point out some specific viewpoints. Biking along Bow Valley Parkway without vehicles was fantastic!Written October 7, 2024
- Saul19410 contributionsJerzy Maslanka fantastic tour guide for Banff, Yoho and Jasper National ParksFor one week with my wife we had Jerzy Maslanka as our private tour guide in his car. He is an unique, wonderful person. He picked us up in Calgary airport took us to our hotel. The next day we went to the amazing dinosaur museum in Drumheller, the badlands, reservations, etc. all done at our pace, we are 73 and 83, full with descriptions and histories of each place. Each morning he would pick us up at the time we felt comfortable, Jerzy is very punctual. From Calgary he brought us to Banff using the scenic route and spent and a few hours there, plenty for us. He recommended us to stay at The Lodge in Bow lake, for the 3 nights given the fact that Jasper was close due to the fire, fantastic idea, he got us the third night free. The Lodge is at about 45' from Banff and 30 from Louise Lake. It provides an excellent dinner, breakfast and packed lunches all included in the price. We visited Louise Lake village, walk around the lake, in every place during the whole tour Jerzy took us and told the history of the places. We went to multiple sites in Banff, Yoho and Jasper National parks, spent time at lakes as Emerald, Peyto and several more, walked to spectacular waterfalls. Walked to the Columbia glaze, Tango falls between others, Kootenay Plains and Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site, and many more. Finally he drove us to Edmonton to visit our friends. In the words of people who stayed with us at the Lodge, and locals, it would take us no less than 3 weeks to see all those places, without the comfort of being driven and given a great picture of each place. Jerzy is a very knowledgeable, passionate and generous person. We strongly recommend him,. Besides his price its more than reasonable. Make sure to consider him before you decide to take a tour by yourself or with someone else.Written October 1, 2024

We had a fabulous hike (11km but can be shortened) with our guide Pablo who made it both fun and fascinating. In addition to his great guiding skills and warm and friendly personality, Pablo was so knowledgeable about the Rockies, and even threw in some geology and glaciology along with identifying flora and fauna. The wildflowers were beautiful, the lakes stunning and the views everywhere were simply spectacular!
We did the slightly harder version, walking up from the gondola (instead of the chairlift) and around both loops, and loved every minute. If we ever come back to Canada we’ll be back to White Mountain Adventures for sure! Muy fantastico, Pablito!!!

A beautiful hike with lots of wild flowers and amazing views although quite a bit of smoke. Leah our guide found the best spot for lunch and was very aware of everyone’s needs and informative with regards to all the trees and flowers along the way. It was an easy hike even though we did 450 m elevation along the 12 km. highly recommendable

Thank you for your review! We've unfortunately dealt with smoke on a few days so far this summer, but luckily it stems from fires that are quite far from us so it just depends on which way the wind is blowing on a given day unfortunately. We are happy to hear that Leah took such good care to make sure you got the most out of your day hiking at Sunshine Meadows. Thank you for your recommendation!

We have used White Mountain Adventures for other outings but this was our first time enjoying Sunshine Meadows during the summer. Previous snowshoe trips have been amazing - what a treat to see the same area with an abundance of wild flowers and few people. Marie led our guided hike and we were a small group - just here and four of us hiking along. She came armed with great maps and a terrific knowledge for the wild flowers and mountains in the distance. This hike is called easy, but we ended up covering quite a bit of ground, making our way up past snow for our lunch on the ridgeline. A most epic day!!

This was interesting in that it starts with a very long gondola ride & ski lift ride to get to the starting point. Was beautiful, with mountain and lake views. It was so peaceful, standing at the edge of the very still lakes with the sky reflected in them. There were a few places where the incline was a bit steep, but not for long. I do consider this to be more of a walk as opposed to a hike. Our guide, Storm, was very pleasant and knowledgeable and never rushed us at all. I would do another hiking tour with White Mountain Adventures!

Hi Susan,
Thank you for your glowing review of the Sunshine Meadows hike with White Mountain Adventures. It is sometimes a challenge to describe the experience. The hike is rated as 'easy', but it could also be described as a challenging walk I suppose :).
Your Canadian Rockies vacation is often over far to fast, with one arriving back at home with fond memories and photographs. It is part of our goal to create space in every program for clients to stop, take a few deep breaths and really experience the present moment. It sounds like Stormm was able to provide that to you with your description of enjoying the sky reflected in the alpine lakes. We hope you join us again!

The hike was absolutely the BEST of our trip. Aiden was a great guide. Sadly the wildflowers were crushed by 6" of snow a few days earlier. Was stunned and lucky enough to spot a wolf on a hillside.

Hi Randy, yes, August snowfalls can crush both the high-alpine wildflowers as well as the spirits of those who live for summer (the snow always comes too soon). Luckily these wildflowers are built for life in the alpine, and will be back again :). Meanwhile we are back to summer weather, and looking forward to more great hiking in September

Had an absolutely brilliant day - the scenery was stunning with wildflowers everywhere! Many thanks to Jay for making the day so fantastic - he is such a lovely bloke and a wealth of information. Special thanks to White Mountain Adventures for running this with only the two of us - really appreciated this as it was our last day in the Rockies and we could not reschedule.

Hi Dianne,
Happy to accommodate you :) Our daily public programs do run with a minimum of 2 pax, so there is always the chance of having a private tour if no one else books. Jay will love hearing this feedback from you. Glad to have made a positive impact on your Banff adventure.

This was an easy and enjoyable hike. Our guide was Sarah and she was amazing! She was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the surroundings and history of the place. Thank you Sarah for storing my jacket in your locker so I wouldn't have to shlep it on the hike! It was much appreciated! And thanks for an amazing morning!

We were really looking forward to this hike, after seeing the beautiful pictures on Tripadvisor & the internet. We weren’t disappointed, as like every other highlight in Banff / Jasper, the views were spectacular & required no filter on the photos. Our guide Marie, was knowledgeable & good humoured, putting those of us in the group with trepidation about bears totally at ease, even making our calls to make the bears aware of our presence, a fun part of the journey. Marie’s experience with the area & the weather also meant that we turned back in time to miss out on a thunderstorm, which would have not only meant we’d have been exposed to the elements, but also have been stuck when the gondola down ceased while the storm passed. Merci beaucoup Marie!

Thank you for your review! Your review is a great example of how a guide can add value to your experience in Banff. It's easy to see how Marie's experience added to your enjoyment, while avoiding some potential bad luck with our variable mountain weather.
We value Marie's experience and her friendly nature, and share all our reviews with guides and office staff.
We look forward to another adventure with you in the future here in Banff.
