- 1Johnston CanyonStop: 90 minutesLight your way through this narrow, water-formed canyon as your small group follows your guide to the Canyon’s lower falls. The suspended catwalks, built into the limestone walls, make this an easy trip for everyone. Along the way, your guide will highlight unique features by powerful flashlight and pause for moments of darkness and quiet to foster an appreciation for spending time in the canyon at night. At the turn around point, your guide will illuminate the expanding ice that encases the rushing water and escort you through a natural tunnel onto the viewing platform, beside the cascading Lower Falls themselves. Warm up with hot chocolate and maple cookies while you look around the Lower Falls, the turnaround point. The return journey is your opportunity to travel without your headlamp (should you wish!). You’ll be amazed as to how quickly your eyes adjust to the darkness, enough for you to travel through the pine forest guided only by the ambient light of the moon and the stars above your head. - dewmaw00Lake Louise and Moraine Lake tour - not to be missed!Lake Louise was fantastic. Moraine Lake just slightly less stunning, but that’s a relative comment after the first stop at Lake Louise. Both lakes were fairly busy but once you get away from the immediate parking lot area it gets much quieter very quickly. These are sights not to be missed, and using a commercial operator is the only way you’ll get to Moraine Lake at peak times. We booked quite late and managed to get seats on an afternoon tour. Booking was simple. Seats were scarce, so try to book early. Pick up was pretty straightforward behind the Mount Royal Hotel. We were in a small bus, maybe around 16-20 people. Chatty and informative Aussie driver/tour guide. Drove safely. Very clear instructions about timings, when to get back to the bus at each stop, etc. Water and cookies provided at half time!
- E6059ZRjuliev00Stanley Glacier with RosalynRosalyn was the best guide ever, she was encouraging, informative and so friendly!! The 9.4 KM hike was beautiful every step of the way and we even got a bonus hike to Marble Canyon because we did the hike in record time.
- mercurylane00Awesome day seeing famous lakes! The bus a little late arriving but guide apologized. After that guide was friendly, informative and very pleasant. She gave lots of helpful tips! The scenery was stunning! Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Sandra from NB Canada
- jerryg26400A great experience - run by a friendly experienced teamThis was a great experience so see and actually stand on a glacier. The journey up was in two stages coach to the 1st staging post then the specially terrain trucks to the glacier. Good commentary on the way up on the history and geography and our driver was excellent. Views excellent from the top only negative was would have valued a little more time on the glacier.
- Wanderer73384500An Amazing Day in the Canadian Rockies! We had the best time traveling to Kicking Horse Mountain with Roz, our guide for the day. She was so knowledgeable, fun, and very passionate about the area and Boo, the grizzly! We spotted Boo playing and splashing around in his pond he dug himself! The gondola was down during our scheduled lunch time, but we were able to ride it up later, and still had a lovely lunch in a restaurant below. The views were spectacular and Roz made it so much more enjoyable! Thanks so much!!!
- bjsvaughn00The lakesNeil was a wonderful tour guide. He gave advice as to which direction to go when at the lakes. As we travelled there and back he told many historical stories about the mountain ranges and people that visited the area.
- D732XWlorrainew00Bucket list fulfilledHad the most amazing day, our bus driver Jeff and ice explorer driver Avery were very informative and pleasant
- dianel15100Great!Our bus tour to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake was fabulous! The beauty of the lakes and mountains was breathtaking. Jeff, our bus driver, was great! He told lots of stories and gave us informative facts.
- barbaran12700Stand on an ancient glacier! It was surreal to be able to stand on a 15,000 year old glacier, drink the glacier water and take in such a beautiful spot in nature. Humbling and special. We drove up the Icefields Parkway from Banff, which is stunning as well. Our guide, Marc with a “C” was professional, knowledgeable and funny! We also did the sky view walk, 918 feet glass walkway above the valley. Thrilling! Highly recommend both experiences.
- T6917JPsame00Excellent ghost tourSam was super knowledgeable about the haunted side of Banff. Her stories were thoroughly researched and entertaining. She was animated, engaging, and fun. It was an excellent tour! Separately, we accidentally double-booked the tour through Viator, and Sam was very helpful in getting us a refund for the extra booking.
- marygK5356BJ00Evening wildlife tourLively informative guide, Emma who knew her subject and most importantly found us wildlife. Emma demonstrated real respect for the wildlife at all times which was great to see. The bus however, wasn’t great - quite old with dirty windows. Given we wanted to take photos through them it wasn’t ideal. One window was completely misted up, although luckily we weren’t sitting in that one. There was no air conditioning either and given the bus was full it was a little uncomfortable. In summary, a good tour but they need a new bus with clean windows!
- Clive18631400Half day Lake Louise & Moraine Lake tourExcellent trip. Piper, our driver and guide for this excellent excursion, great value for money tour, was so knowledgeable about the area, the time on the coach admiring the scenery and listening to her commentary just flew by. Plenty of time given to explore at each lake. Helpful where to go tips given on return to Banff.
- Mcc046400Fantastic day out in the RockiesWe had a wonderful day on this tour. Our guide, Kelsea, as others have said, was excellent, informative and friendly. All the locations were impressive but the highlights were enjoying the Takakkaw falls in the fresh morning air and sunshine, and seeing Boo the grizzly up close. Best tour of our 3 weeks in Canada.
- Corinne P00A Glacier visit is a must in the Banff area and this is a well prepared company to do it!A must do before the glaciers are all gone! Tex was a great guide who answered all questions and helped with everything from getting drinking water on the glaciers to becoming photographer for anyone on the Glacier, even if not part of his group! This was.an awesome experience. Bring a jacket and be careful not to slip on the ice!
- BobCintheBurgh00Discover Banff Tours = High Quality5 out of 5 stars!! Our guide Nicole was incredibly knowledgeable on all things Banff and added great historic information to our tour of these beautiful lakes. Her skills make me recommend discover Banff tours!! You're allowed 45 minutes at each lake and our guide communicated everything we needed to know! Note we did go on a rainy day, but we still had a smooth drive through Banff to Lake Louis and Moraine lake.

We were picked up at our hotel by our guide, Jeff. A very knowledgeable gentleman, he took our group up the canyon on a perfectly clear - and moonless - night. We were provided head lamps, but often walked in the darkness so we could take in the whole experience. I don't believe we have ever seen so many stars so clearly, being urban dwellers. The hike was not overly strenuous, so it would be a good experience for virtually anyone as long as they don't mind the cold ;) We highly recommend this excursion if you are in Banff.

Tim from Strathroy, ON was our guide. He was very polite, adjusted the walking speed for the group, drove safely and shared his knowledge of the area with us. Hot chocolate and maple cookies by the cave was a nice little treat. Recommend as an activity. Pics are limited :) rather able to take the time to listen to the quiet and the running stream.

Hey,
The Evening Johnston Canyon tour is unique as it allows you to be on trail alone and use all 5 of your senses.
Nature is beautiful in daylight and it has a certain magic to it at night time.
We are glad you were able to join us and hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Banff!

Beautiful hike during a snowy, winter night. We didn't see any nightlife or stars since it was snowing, but that didn't stop us from learning a lot and seeing the beautiful canyon! It was surprisingly brightener than we anticipated so we didn't need our headlamps the full time, which made it even more exciting! Nick was full of knowledge and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I loved going at night because it made a simple hike, more mysterious. Hot chocolate and maple cookies at the end were a nice touch.

This was a very fun evening walk through Johnston canyon. It was a cold night in Banff, but in the canyon there isn't much wind and is not as cold. The night we went was a particularly bright night from the full moon. We were able to turn off our headlamps and walk via the moonlight along the trail and it was very beautiful. The trail is very easy to walk and our guide gave us strap on ice cleats. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience with Discover Banff Tours, and our guide Jeff. Picked us up from our hotel, heard some great stories from Jeff on our drive up, and walked through Johnston Canyon under the moon lit sky. Equipment all provided, and kept our headlamps afterwards. Our group didnt want to use lights throughout the walk, which was a great experience and definitely increased other senses. Very easy walk, delicious hot chocolate and cookies, and Jeff took pictures of us while stopping at various points to ensure we were all okay and to speak to some interesting things along the way. Would recommend this unique experience to everyone, thank you Discover Banff Tours and Jeff!

What a great evening! We were met at a convenient location and driven to the canyon, maybe 45 minute drive. Tim our guide/driver was very engaging and informative. We had a little history during our drive. Once at the park, we put on ice cleats, head lamps and set out on our Icewalk. It was a gorgeous clear evening, Tim gave us history of the Canyon and family who still runs it. The views were beautiful. This was a pretty easy walk, wear hiking shoes that are warm. Not a big change in elevation, walkways very clear and safe, railings the entire route. we did the lower falls as it was an evening walk, had a delicious cup of cocoa and cookies and headed back. The time frame of this was perfect. highly recommend this easy, beautiful tour.

Just returned from a snowy chilly evening tour with our great guide Neil. It was snowing all the time and the roads were covered but we were safe in his care. Lovely stroll up into Johnson’s Canyon with several stops to learn about how it was created, fossils and the hot chocolate/cookie stop welcome on a chilly evening -11. Would recommend both day and night tours with this great company. Thanks Neil for all your knowledge and insight.

A beautiful place to hike and take in the winter landscape. It’s not likely that you will see much wildlife because the tracks are well travelled and you frequently pass other walkers (unless you go off the beaten track which could be dangerous) because of the caverns and rock structures underneath the snow and ice.
Very beautiful natural ice and snow sculptures. Not too challenging a walk.

I’ve done the ice walk on a previous trip to Banff and decided to do it again in the evening. What a treat! It was super peaceful especially since we had a little group. I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Rob was very friendly and knowledgeable.

The evening icewalk was a wonderful experience. I didn't know what to expect. It was a very doable walk and wasn't too strenuous. They had show spikes which made the walk safe in the snow. There is something magical about walking in the snow at night. When we arrived at the water pool at the end we were given hot chocolate and cookies. Another nice touch was they gave us the headlights we used to walk in the dark as gifts. I'm sure the walk is nice during the day and in summer, but walking through the snowy canyon, in the dark, was just lovely.

Hi there, you're welcome to drive into Banff (in which case we recommend parking in or near the Mt Royal parking lot which has free parking for up to 3 hours) or otherwise you can catch the Roam bus into Banff and meet us at the Elk and Avenue Hotel (opposite the Banff High School where the main bus stop in Banff is).
