About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 554clausf0 contributionsFeel the rocks and climb high with Mitch in BanffMy family (mom 50, kids 18 and 14) had an awesome day with Mitch climbing the Rockies of Banff. Mitch was excellent in taking things step by step, instructing and still making sure we got an experience in finding our own way in the rock climb! And also just a really pleasant and cool human being to spend a day with! I highly recommend!Written July 30, 2024
- shomaha0 contributionsWorst experience ever.If anyone is planning on signing up for this tour, definitely don't.Their refund policy is the worst I have ever experienced.I could not take this tour because I did not have my ski jacket with me.They may say you agreed to their refund policy when you book, but first of all it doesn't say that ski jackets are required.Plus, they said they have all the climbing equipment they need.All.Thus, the refund should have gone through under normal circumstances, but it did not, because the problem was on their end rather than my error. They are no different than a scam group.Written March 28, 2024
- D3422VUsarahb0 contributionsBest staff everI stumbled across the office for Alpine Air and popped in to see what they had to offer. The guys could not have been more friendly, personable and professional. They humoured me asking a million questions and steered me both away from things that I wasn’t able to do and helped me find a suitable activity. They never pushed a sale which I found reassuring. The day before my booked ice climbing I injured myself and emailed them to advise. Once again, they was beyond helpful with advice on where to go to get medical help in Banff. I am so grateful for your kindness and help Richard and will be back!Written March 6, 2024
- sarat9380 contributionsIrresponsible, not as advertisedThe guiding was poor to the point of being unsafe. The hike the guide chose was not any of the ones advertised and was significantly longer and steeper. We explained that we had a recent injury and the guide completely disregarded it. We happily would have skipped the hike and hung out at the lake if the guide had been realistic about the hike, but he provided an inaccurate description of the trail and we ended up going on a hike that exacerbated the injury. The guide also provided no guide services other than walking at the head of the trail. He didn’t describe the terrain, flora, wildlife, etc. The destinations, of course, are beautiful, but that has nothing to do with the company. Our experience was that this guide company was irresponsible and the trip was not as advertised.Written December 19, 2023
- LizW38620 contributionsPhotographer's ParadiseWe cannot speak highly enough of this tour. The number of places that we visited, the perfect amount of time at each and our driver Nazmul, was so knowledgeable about the area and the science of winter! We wholeheartedly recommend this adventure.Written November 27, 2023

- shannons198760 contributionsPrivate guided hikeWe did a private guided hike in Lake O’Hara and I highly recommend the experience if you are considering it! Our guides name was Peter and he was excellent. He made us feel safe and also informed us of how to handle every element during our hike - animals, nature, and weather. If you are lucky enough to get Peter, you will be in great hands!Written October 9, 2023
- kaig7540 contributionsAAA Rock masters courseDid the rock masters course with Sasha. I learned a ton about trad and multi pitch rope systems, Sasha went above and beyond by tailoring the course to fit my personal alpine climing goals and provided additional information resources for multiple personal objectives. Always a good investment to learn best up to date practices to stay safe on solo objectives.Written July 23, 2023
- adamzJ2927BG0 contributionsLake O’Hara hikingWe hiked Lake O’Hara with Andrew. He did an amazing job taking us to places we wouldn’t have went. This was the first time we went on a guided hike and would definitely do it again. We learned things about the area, and hiking. This was my parents first time in the Canadian Rockies, and the whole group had a great time! Definitely recommend this experience and Andrew as a guide!Written September 19, 2022
- Aisatwd760 contributionsGreat Experience with the ShuttleI forgot the name of the driver but he was very nice to come back for us at Lake Louise Inn to pick us up to go to Lake Moraine. He was very approachable. The company was great to work with when it comes to communication.Written September 7, 2022

- ok_bison120 contributionsGreat guide. Horrible refund policy! Find another service.Look for another service. Our guide was great, but their refund policy is horrible! No refund within 3 weeks of service doesn’t work during COVID and flight cancellations. One of our kids got COVID, so my wife and her didn’t make trip. No refund! We got refund on lift tickets. We got refund on ski rentals. During COVID and dealing with cancelled flights you need a more flexible refund policy for your family. Don’t select Alpine.Written January 5, 2022

We are experienced hikers who decided to go on a guided hike for ease, adventure, and potentially to meet some friendly people. Laura was an excellent guide, and everyone in the group got on great. But, overall, I don't know that the views of this hike are any more spectacular than other hikes you might experience in Banff. The only reason I say that is because there is a section of trail that several people would, and should, find intimidating. The path narrows down to the width of your shoe (yes, one shoe), and eventually, you have to turn with your belly against the rocks and shuffle your way across an exposed rock face. As you near the end of this section, there is a large rock you need to maneuver around, again, with very minimal footing. And absolutely nothing is protecting you from a fall. So the "family-friendly" description of this hike is up for debate. Unfortunately, two people in our group felt this exceeded their comfort level and had to stay back while we moved on. The only other note I would add is for the admin team who sends the details out to the hikers. If/when plans change, it is probably best to call with the updated info. When people are traveling to their destination, email might not be the most efficient way to communicate.
I wrote this review to give hikers a realistic expectation of the hike, not to discourage anyone from going. We felt the original description lacked this detail, and honestly, if any of us had known this, we wouldn't have picked this hike. However, if you are less risk-averse and love a challenge, the guides will ensure you have a great experience.

I highly recommend this guided hike! We were able to experience the beauty of the mountains in way that we would never have been able to do on our own. It is UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous- a must do!! Our guide, Jeff, is very professional and came prepared with everything we needed - hiking poles, ice axes (it snowed just before our hike), a fabulous lunch, and even a couple spare hiking jackets for those of us who over-dressed and needed something more appropriate to wear. The hike itself was challenging/adventurous, but still very manageable for the inexperienced. When we remember our trip to Banff - this will be the day we remember the best:)

My family did the ridge line hike with Jeff, and it was the coolest thing we’ve ever done on vacation. 5 isn’t high enough a rating. The views are ridiculous. The hike is a challenge, but manageable. I can’t recommend this enough.

This will be our first time in Alberta. We will be staying at Calgary and drive to the meeting point for this tour in Banff. Is there a free parking at the meeting point? and what time is the departure?
Thank you,
