About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 1Gideon0 contributionsDisappointingVery Disappointed, not a lot of animals although children would probably enjoy it. I was very impressed that they had FREE scooters for those who have mobility problems. Staff very friendly. There is a souvenir shot of course and a small area where you can get refreshments. Wouldn’t be in a rush back!Written October 8, 2024
- 289guyh0 contributionsWhat a great place to visit. This review comes as part of an itinerary of a road trip arranged by Audley Travel. The grizzlies and birds were brilliant. I've never been so close to a huge grizzly bear before. Stories about how the animals have been rescued were lovely and heart warming to read. What a great place to visit.Written October 8, 2024
- 266GiovanniS2660 contributionsUnfair behaviorWe arrived at the gate at 4pm and they let us in but most of the animals were already caged and pulled apart. So we paid as anyone but could enjoy only few animals. No bears, no cougars, only goats and pigs. We had a long drive with a child but were absolutely unworthy due to limits. The manager and employee were also unhelpful and didn't try to propose other solutions for our complaints.Written August 24, 2024
- 136jarrodb0 contributionsVery ran downSome TLC in the enclosures wouldn't go astray. I can appreciate this is non-for profit, but most zoos are. This one had extremely overgrown and messy enclosures (at times, impossible to see the animals). If you were a kid at this zoo, goodluck seeing any animals at all, adults are barely able to. Needs to really consider the appeal of the park. I'm sure the animals are okay, but as a day-out event for kids and families, this misses the mark.Written July 18, 2024
- B2527CFkarenb0 contributionsSmall park ideal for younger childrenThis is a fairly small park so doesn’t overwhelm small children. Our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed looking at the animals. We understand that in wildlife parks the animals are sometimes asleep or hiding but we managed to see most of the ones in this park which was great. There was a small train to ride on and the park has numerous benches around the whole park which was appreciated by our heavily pregnant daughter! We also finished the cafe where the food was hot and was reasonably priced.Written June 24, 2024
- mattpF1394SW0 contributionsLots of interactive activities for kidsAverage experience to price, a lot of empty exhibits. Animals seem happy. Would have been nice to visit when this place was in its prime.Written June 22, 2024
- L1743QVlaurat0 contributionsMore space for tourists than for the animalsI was very excited to see so many native animals here and it is nice to see injured and orphaned animals taken care of. However, I am quite shocked at the size of the enclosures. I can't understand how the animals are given so little space for their entire lives just to make it convenient for tourists. I'm also shocked this hasn't been mentioned in previous reviews as it's all i could think about when visiting. For example the birds; while a lot of them have wing injuries and don't need space to fly, there are some locked up in tiny spaces (particularly your hawk). Humans have so much space around this park - cafe, train, water park etc., give this space to the animals who spend their lives there, not the humans who visit for a few hours???Written May 27, 2024
- NiafronBC0 contributionsPretty nice park to see canadian animalsReally nice place, reasonable size neither to small or to big. I didn't take the small train i just walked around. I was pretty happy with the animals I have been able to see: grizzly, wolf, black fox, owl, raccoons, cougar and farmer animals. I was alone and i had fun, as a kid i would have loved it as you can also brush the sheep and goats😄 I had a good day specially for $19. I recommend 3h.Written March 29, 2024
- traveltheworld4610 contributionsAlways fun to visitThe park was clean and not very busy. We saw lots of animals including the birds of prey, bears, foxes, donkeys, frogs, and a wolf. Bring cash for the train ride. It was a good deal and the kids loved it. Definitely will return for another visit.Written October 25, 2023

- EmmaM21120 contributionsOur visit to BC Wildlife ParkWe visited the wildlife park today and we were very impressed with our visit. We paid less than $20 per person, which we thought was very good value - and actually too cheap for a nonprofit organisation. We are always very careful about visiting places with animals in captivity - however, we recognised that the animals here had been rescued and weren’t bread by this park to be exploited. It was interesting (and sad) to read how all of the animals ended up in the park as we walked around. But as animal lovers, it is nice to know that they have a safe home - far better than the otherwise alternative. The park is much bigger than it looks from the outside, with many different enclosures to look at. We completely understood when we attended that some of the animals might choose to be out of sight, which is fine and nice to know they can be away from people. All the staff we encountered throughout our visit were incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to talk to us about the animals. All in all, the money we paid didn’t seem enough for the time we had here. We would recommend anyone visit to enjoy the experience and support the good work done to give these animals a second chance.Written September 10, 2023
- B3anhead0 contributionsEnjoyable tripIt’s a great place that looks after injured and rescued animals. Not all enclosures were open (no coyotes or badgers, for example) but we saw all the bears, and extremely close up at feeding time. There’s a nice train in the middle ($1 per person) which takes you around the park. For younger ones there’s a good playground in the centre. The prices in the cafe were very reasonable. You’ll spend around 2-3 hours here.Written August 1, 2023
- daquiris0 contributionsOK but $$Lots of bears & birds. Many empty enclosures, which probably is a good thing in a way. Focus is on native species to Canada & they have orphaned & injured wildlife that is unable to be released. Took us about a hour or so to look at everything. Very cute train. Spray park area & lots of playground equipment. Petting area with goats, Llama & donkeys. Strollers, wagons available for kids. Cute gift shop, there is a Cafe as well. Hard to see many animals, so did not get great photos. Lots of foliage & enclosure wire that hinders pics.Written June 12, 2023
- Curious156408103530 contributionsLovely wildlife parkThis is a lovely little wildlife park, where they have taken in rescued or injured wildlife. It is well set out with a variety of animals and was lovely just walking the park.Written June 9, 2023
- V4364WUmikes0 contributionsGreat wildlife experienceThis is a wonderful wildlife park set against stunning scenery. All animals here are either injured or orphaned and not suitable to rewind. The park has excellent parking and easy access to all enclosures. There are a variety of animals ranging from a young bison to two cougars, black bear, wolves and the lovely Clover, a Kemode white bear. There is a dedicated part for raptures including golden and bald eagles and several owls. Children can be amused in the play park and amongst the domestic animal display. When you are hungry and tired there is a cafe with various food and drinks on offer. A small educational section gives further insight into the animal lives. This makes a great day visit in BC.Written May 26, 2023

What a great place! All the animals are rescued, often from babies and this is a non profit place. It is the first time we see bears looking happy and in good condition in captivity. We got to see all the animals really well.

This is an exceptional facility. We finally took our 7 year old Canadian grandson to see it after falling in love with the animals 4 years ago. Not only are there a wide variety of creatures but it is very natural. We fell in love with Knute and Dawson the sibling Grizzly Bears last visit and loved seeing them again, they are special, but the Birds of Prey are amazing. The Eagles put on an unbelievable display. Talking to each other and walking around. Amusingly Bob the 3 legged Bobcat (still there) won the heart of a little boy.

Park with some native Canadian animals. It is a small park but with good infrastructure. In addition to the animals, they have a playground, splash park and a very tasty snack bar. Our young children loved it. It is interesting because it is possible to see animals that are difficult to see in nature, such as wolves and cougars. It is possible to visit calmly between 2 and 3 hours.

Exoensive, food is not up to par with prices. Caesar Salad with its " homemade dressing" was terrible. The dressing had no taste at all. 2 thin small croutons, and capers. Very little parmesean cheese. Nobody else was happy with their meals either.
The restaurant itself has a terrible smell, like old grease. And it was hot inside.
I will never go again and I totally do not recommend it at all.

Great place to explore while traveling through Kamloops, BC. Most of the animals were clearly visible and it's obvious they are well cared for. We spent about 3 hours walking through the exhibits and look forward to visiting again!

It was nice. I wish there was a video cam that gave visitors an idea where the Spirit bear would be. A lot of the visitors wanted to see him/her but we couldn't find. The train was enjoyable too.

Even though we didn't manage to see all the animals we had a great morning there. The big animal enclosures give the animals plenty of variety and enrichment. It's great also to see the history of many of them and see that they have been rescued after injuries, treated and given a chance for a longer life.
A full morning is just about enough to get round everything.
A worthwhile visit for all ages.

I am biased about this wildlife park as my dad was instrumental and one of the founders of the railroad when the park built the track. He retired as a supervisor on the CPR and brought his many years of experience to the park and helped build the train track. He got great pleasure out of working WITH the enemy train company (Canadian National Railway), the government opposition to the Canadian Pacific Railway. The park planted a tree in his name.

We had a great time with our 3 & 1 year olds! Wish we had more timers spend there, 2 hours was not enough. Our kids loved the playground and spray park. We were too late to ride the train or go in the petting zoo, but they looked like fun. If you go, definitely plan ahead. They have everything listed on their website. Defiantly recommend for families with small children. Our kids are quite small, but were able to see the animals in their enclosures easily.

This is such a wonderful service to rehab or a safe haven for wildlife! It was the perfect ending to my trip coming back towards Vancouver Island.
It is not only educational for everyone but fun for all too!Train for kids, room to picnic, small park and mini golf on the way. It is nothing like a "zoo". Has large natural settings and gives you the history of animal enclosed and general info. Don't miss it!

Can we purchase admission when we arrive or does it need to be reserved?
Written April 19, 2019
You can purchase when you arrive. If you have small kids you can bring your stroller or a wagon. There is a small restaurant also, or you can bring your own lunch and snacks. Enjoy your visit.
