About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- paulbU4497TX0 contributionsA great way to spend an afternoonMy wife and I actually live in North Vancouver but had a great time in spite of our knowledge of the area, thanks largely to our guide, Kelsey. We had not heard of, let alone, been to most of the places she took us to. The food and drink choices were great and we didn't need dinner on our return home. The tour was well organised and Kelsey made it even more interesting with all the historical tidbits she imparted. Worth every penny.Written January 20, 2025
- juliesT4018JZ0 contributionsSips and Bites: A tasty introduction to the Shipyards District! What a delightful way to spend an afternoon - discovering hidden gems in the restaurants and tasting rooms of the Shipyards District! Our guide, Sean, relayed the fascinating history of the area, and he paid attention to the details, arranging vegan and non-alcoholic options for my daughter, and vegetarian options for me. My highlights were the delicious (and unusual) Lemon Zucchini Pizza at North Point Brewing, and the glorious gin and tonic at Copperpenny Distilling. The portions were just right. I highly recommend the Sips and Bites Walking Tour, and our guide, Sean. He was friendly, funny and informative! Thank you!Written December 31, 2024
- NorthVanFamilyofFour0 contributionsA fun way to spend a rainy afternoon!Although we live in North Vancouver, we decided to book this tour to show our daughter — who was visiting from the UK — the emerging Shipyards Brewery District, an area we hadn’t explored much ourselves despite being locals. It turned out to be such a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon! While it would have been even more enjoyable on a sunny day, the minimal walking made the light rain more than bearable, and the places we visited were so welcoming that we didn’t mind getting a little wet. We were treated to a wonderful variety of food and drinks along the way, and we had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic people. Our guide, Sean, was both informative and fun, which really added to the experience. We highly recommend this tour to both locals and visitors—it’s a great way to discover the North Shore Brewery District and have a good time!Written December 30, 2024
- 526madelinen0 contributionsFor drinkers and teetotalers alike!I was an unlikely guest on this tour, as a non-drinker (and a vegan too, just to make things more complicated)! Having done other Taste Vancouver tours, I knew it would be a fun experience, regardless — but I did not expect to be SO well accommodated. The non-alcoholic options at all stops were delicious and high quality; I felt just as pampered as the other guests! The vegan food was really great as well. (Sometimes one feels like an afterthought as a person with dietary restrictions on a food tour, but Taste Vancouver clearly thinks of *all* food lovers.) Our guide, Sean, was so knowledgeable and helpful, even providing guidance on other great restaurants in the area. He created a welcoming and friendly environment and curated a truly fantastic afternoon for us all. I would highly recommend taking this tour!Written December 29, 2024

- K645BGseans0 contributionsTour-riffic!!This tour offers visits to the newest additions to the Shipyards District and they really shine! The breweries and distilleries offer really great samplers and their atmospheres are unique and different enough that it makes traversing the (admittedly) industrial neighbourhood worth it! Sean is an amazing host/guide and this ~2hr tour is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and sample the latest offerings of the North ShoreWritten October 25, 2024
- WendersB0 contributionsShipyards Sips Tour - great variety! It was fun to follow our guide Sean who took us to a cidery, distillery and Breweries where we sampled beer, wine and a delicious Gin cocktail! It was great to support these small businesses and we also met some of the owners! A fun walking tour learning more about the Shipyards District! Bonus- we met some interesting people in our tour group! Very fun!Written October 24, 2024
- StaceySF0 contributionsFood, history and more!A well thought out tour, with a nice variety of food to try. Kelsey was a fantastic guide. She laid out what we could expect ahead of time and mixed in some interesting sights and historical anecdotes as we made our way around The Shipyards. We all enjoyed the tour and were impressed with how Kelsey managed it.Written October 21, 2024

- C8226VYdavidb0 contributionsFun and FillingWhat a fun and filling experience! Our tour guide Kelsey was funny and super knowledgeable about the history of the market and the shipyards. The kind of guide that makes a place come alive in a way you can't just get by walking around. Food stops focused on local businesses and each one was unique, from carpaccio to fried chicken and donuts - this was a tasty tour!Written August 5, 2024
- brendamX7320PY0 contributionsTourist AND locals will love it!What a wonderful afternoon to spend time with work colleagues right in our own back yard around the Lonsdale Quay! This is truly something for both tourists and locals alike! Trust me there will be lots in the tour as a local you didn't know and it will be fun to find out. Kelsey was full of historical facts and delivered them better than any history teacher you had to keep it interesting, fun and informative. The food and drink spots we stopped at were the icing on the cake! Delicious and perfectly timed throughout the afternoon. Next I've just got to do the Gas Town tour and will be gathering some friends for our next event! Thanks so much to all who are part of these events! Sincerely, BrendaWritten July 9, 2024

This was a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. Brent, a working actor, was our guide. We really appreciated his ability to project his voice since my wife has hearing issues. He was very personable and shared Gastown history in an interesting and enjoyable way. He also came prepared with extra masks and umbrellas for anyone who needed them.
The tour provided a good variety of food and Brent’s narrative was great; however, $90 per person seems a little steep.

Thank you for your great feedback. Especially good to hear that Brent's voice made it easier for your wife to hear the stories well. Due to Covid, prices have risen and therefore our tour price is reflective of that. Thank you for joining!

Had a super fun rainy afternoon in Gastown with hilarious and informative guide, Tia! She made the area come alive with her colourful descriptions of the people and events of this historic town center while sampling delicious foods and beverages along the way. Make sure you wear a comfortable pair of shoes and dress for the weather. I forgot my umbrella, but was saved by one of the people in the group who lent me her's (thank you!!!) Highly recommend!

I have lived in Vancouver for 14 years on and off and grew up in Metro Vancouver. I wasn't expecting to learn so much history so humorously paired with a sampling of over half a dozen innovative restaurants. This is a fun half day out , and not just for tourists, I am sure locals will enjoy this fascinating look at the history of our city as much as I did.
Its was very cool for me to finally eat in the former bar where Greenpeace was formed, something that always made me proud to be from this region.
Thank you Taste Vancouver Food Tours for a relatively cheap way to sample many amazing and up and coming restaurants that I will definitely eat at again and likely would never have found alone. While laughing and learning the whole way! Highly recommended.

This tour has so much potential! We arrived at a Starbucks in Waterfront station which does not have bathrooms available to anyone unless you purchase a sea bus ticket and make a long journey down to the hall. Outside of the station people are on the streets literally doing drugs. So it was just a weird start to it all.
Finally our guide arrived, and we waited for another group of six which never showed up. So we were running late to everything then. We spent a lot of time talking about an airplane tower before getting to our first restaurant.
The sample sizes are small. Then you are rushed through them. I’ve done tasting tours before and this was very expensive for what you receive. Wouldn’t recommend unless they make some changes. It was also raining and instead of taking us into a restaurant or something to tell us a story, he kept us outside in rainy cold weather. Just didn’t make sense.

Our guide (Brent) did a great job! All of us could hear him, he knew Gastown really well and kept us moving along so that we could enjoy each of the food/drink stops. We live about 1 hour away from Vancouver and we come in quite often. So, it was cool to experience and find new great restaurants that we had not been at before!

Our tour guide Rachel was very knowledgeable and personable. The Brioche restaurant was very good and I would highly recommend it. However, some of the other stops were disappointing. I was expecting unique local eats that highlight what a restaurant has to offer, instead we were served a beef dip, wings, fries, and vanilla ice cream with hot fudge. Basic food that can be found anywhere. The sweet chili cauliflower from MeeT was delicious, unfortunately it was difficult/awkward to eat off a napkin while standing in an alley. 16 people on the tour was also too many as we were often cramped into a small space to eat or listen to the guide.

My son and I did the gastown food tour-it was fantastic! Our tour guide was Dan and he was so interesting, knowledgeable, fun and friendly. The food and drinks were outstanding! We’ll definitely be back to have meals in the various restaurants in the near future.
Highly recommend this tour for both tourists and those living in the Vancouver area who want to learn some really interesting things about the city, it’s history, and enjoy really great food.

Tour started on time in the pre-determined location which was very close to our hotel.
Connor provided a very informative and entertaining presentation at each stop; however, I would recommend reconsidering where you stop for the first story. The history was great, and it was good to directly see what he was talking about, but the smell in the area was not so good.
All of the food and drink was delicious. Not a single item I didn’t like or not want to eat. Thought the sweet chili cauliflower wings from the vegan restaurant MeeT sounded weird, and it wasn’t something I would have eaten otherwise, but it was surprisingly good. Small samples meant room for everything, but they could have been slightly
bigger portions. The chicken karaage and tortellini were my favourites. Discount offered at some of the places if you returned after the tour. Good tour to check out the local area and have some great food. BTW - if the tour is good, the tips will come without asking for them.

Connor was our guide for the tour. He was polite, had lots of interesting historical information to share and shepherded us courteously and considerately around the best of the location including places you would miss travelling independently.
Everything was as advertised. The portions were more generous than on other food tours I have done so don’t overindulge beforehand (but then I am not a fussy eater and enjoy most food and drink).
Connor had to cope with 6 people turning up as late as 25 minutes after the requested meeting time as well as various dietary requirements. Without knowing the reasons for being late it is impossible to say whether this was misfortune or mismanagement but it surely wasn’t helpful and caused some frustration and the tour to overrun its scheduled time.
The balance of the tastings was 4 savoury to 3 sweet which suited me fine. There were drink choices when beverages were included.

Think of it more like a stroll. Like others said, lots of stops and sitting. We did have some stairs to traverse, but unless you are in a wheelchair you should be ok.
