About
The Legendary Gastown Food tour takes you through the cobbled stone streets of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood. Enjoy local craft beer, Japanese Kar-age style chicken, freshly made Sicilian Tortellini with local wine, crispy sweet & chili cauliflower, Canadian poutine; handmade fries topped with cheese curds & gravy and choice of beer/wine, organic smooth soft ice cream, Vancouver's award winning cheesecake and delicious lemon bars. What to expect
Meet an improv comedian guide in the historic district of Gastown, then set out on foot as you hear some little-known stories about the neighborhood. Check out the Gastown Steam Clock—it really does run on steam power—as well as the ‘World’s Oldest Trading Company,’ and other local landmarks. The tasting menu varies to keep the experience fresh and fun, but favorites include local craft beer, organic ice cream, pulled-pork sandwiches, treats made with Canadian maple syrup, and a cheese cake that’s been voted the best in the city. Throughout the tour, your guide will keep up an energetic dialogue about Gastown, Vancouver, and local food. Your walking tour concludes at the original departure point.

This was a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. Brent, a working actor, was our guide. We really appreciated his ability to project his voice since my wife has hearing issues. He was very personable and shared Gastown history in an interesting and enjoyable way. He also came prepared with extra masks and umbrellas for anyone who needed them.
The tour provided a good variety of food and Brent’s narrative was great; however, $90 per person seems a little steep.

Thank you for your great feedback. Especially good to hear that Brent's voice made it easier for your wife to hear the stories well. Due to Covid, prices have risen and therefore our tour price is reflective of that. Thank you for joining!

My son and I did the gastown food tour-it was fantastic! Our tour guide was Dan and he was so interesting, knowledgeable, fun and friendly. The food and drinks were outstanding! We’ll definitely be back to have meals in the various restaurants in the near future.
Highly recommend this tour for both tourists and those living in the Vancouver area who want to learn some really interesting things about the city, it’s history, and enjoy really great food.

Our guide (Brent) did a great job! All of us could hear him, he knew Gastown really well and kept us moving along so that we could enjoy each of the food/drink stops. We live about 1 hour away from Vancouver and we come in quite often. So, it was cool to experience and find new great restaurants that we had not been at before!

Thank you for your great feedback! We are always happy to hear when locals discover places on the tour that they did not know before. Brent will be happy to hear! He is our senior tour guide and take great pride in showcasing Gastown.

We have lived in the lower mainland all our lives and have this tour a try for some afternoon fun. We were pleasantly pleased. It was lovely to walk through Gastown (without rain!) and experience some of the restaurants that we had not even known before. Some favourites were Brioche, Meet (I had only known about Meet in Main before) and of course The Flying Pig. We have previously lived the Lemon Square in Whistler and now know where to buy it locally. Our guide Shaun was entertaining and did a great job keeping us in time and organized. The only low point for me was being squeezed 8/table at one restaurant when the rest of the restaurant was empty. We would like to try the Little Italy tour next.

Thank you do much for your detailed review. We love to hear when locals get to know their "back yard' through our tours. We are planning to restart Little Italy later this spring. We look forward to having you on the tour again!

We live in the city and due to Covid have not been travelling. One of our favourite things to do when travelling is to do food tours to taste the different foods, experience the culture and learn about the city. My cousin was visiting from California so thought this would be a fun thing to do. It was wonderful! We had such a fun day. It was great to learn about new restaurants that I have never been to, nor probably ever would have gone to them if not for this tour, but now we have 7 new places to visit .
Sean and Rachael ,our tour guides were fun, engaging and knowledgeable. Maria booked our tour and she was very excited for us and had excellent communication.
We enjoyed the food and hospitality so much at Brioche that we went back for drinks, appetizers and dessert. Alessandra made our visit there so special!
We are looking forward to going to the other tours soon!

We had the pleasure of touring with Sean and he did a great job of sharing stories and delicious dishes in the Gastown neighborhood. Our favourite stop was Brioche (can’t go wrong with authentic pasta and wine!) but all the tastings were very good. Sean was very personable and had a great sense of humour. We’ve done a lot of food tours and would definitely recommend this tour to both locals and visitors!

There were 8 people in our group and Sean, the guide, was great! He kept everything moving and called ahead to make sure our food was hot when we arrived at each stop. He had fun info to share (the washrooms (!), the history, the food, etc. At the Italian stop the pasta dish was so incredible that no one spoke! Everyone had their faces in the dish, having an experience :) WOW. Best food of the tour, but really it was all delicious and I'd absolutely book again. Sean made us feel like we were a group of friends just hanging out for the day eating our way through Gastown.

Had a super fun rainy afternoon in Gastown with hilarious and informative guide, Tia! She made the area come alive with her colourful descriptions of the people and events of this historic town center while sampling delicious foods and beverages along the way. Make sure you wear a comfortable pair of shoes and dress for the weather. I forgot my umbrella, but was saved by one of the people in the group who lent me her's (thank you!!!) Highly recommend!

Enjoyed the experience overall as a walking tour of GasTown. Our guide was invested and friendly. I was disappointed at the value - no more than $25 of food per person so whether the delta of around $90 for the walking tour was worth it is questionable (to me). There were two alcohol tastings, one being a 1/4 pint of beer which merited it’s place based on the venue, the second being a glass of red or white wine to accompany a pasta dish - the wine felt random or a filler and wasn’t described or noteworthy. Be great to see them add another stop that champions a drink somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you did not think the tour was of value to the price. With Covid, food prices have unfortunately increased and other costs as well and to keep our tours going we have set a price that seems comparable to other tours on the market. We will take your suggestions into consideration as they are valid points. Please feel free to contact us directly info@tastevancouverfoodtours.com with your concerns to discuss further.
