Lost Souls of Gastown Walking Tour
Step into Gastown’s wild history on a haunted walking tour exploring a forgotten plague, Vancouver’s great fire, and a gruesome murder that’s unsolved to this day. Leave the navigation to your guide, who uses storytelling and theater to bring real Vancouver history to life. It’s a unique way to engage with Gastown’s landmarks and top sites.
What to Expect
Meet a storytelling guide in the atmospheric Gastown neighborhood, where you’ll discover the unsolved murder of John Bray, who wandered these very streets for two weeks after being shot three times in the head.

Enjoy a colorful mix of theater and history that’s designed for adult audiences, and firmly rooted in real Vancouver history. Visit the city’s oldest hotel, learn the real story behind the Gastown steam clock, and get a glimpse of how the great fire transformed Vancouver.

You’ll cover each of Gastown’s main landmarks, then end the walk with a dramatic finale in Maple Tree Square, close to top Gastown attractions.

Something Different and Interesting

We had a great tour around Gastown and learned some interesting history about the city. The way in which it was presented was creative and fun, and made me connect with the people who lived here around the turn of the Century.

Great Time!

This tour was great! Natasha (I think that was her real name, the character was Sarah) was fantastic. A terrific story teller and very knowledgeable about the history.

Let's be honest.........

a little hokey since the host is in dress of the 1800s and stays in character the whole time but once you get used to it, it was pretty fun. Learned a lot of cool info about Gastown. Too bad the street couldn't be cleaned...More

A tale worth telling

We enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide, Janet, was very good at entering into her character as we stopped at each location. Definitely worth while.

Yep- not too scary but teasing enough. No super adult themes, though talked about a brothel (sp?) and some murders. I would have taken our girls if they were 9

There was a light rain when we took our tour on May 7th. It actually added another layer to the amazing stories of the Lost Souls.
