Vancouver and surrounding is of course very beautiful, the things we saw on our way to the Gondola and Whisler were stunning ...... but for this trip the one thing that made the tour even more special was our amazing tour guide Jason Southern. What an amazing guy, after a few hours into the trip we already starten calling him Jason Wikipedia. The amount of information he gave us throughout the day and his sence of humor was so nice, he is so knowledgeable. The information during the trip alternated with some music was a recipe for a great day. When somebody is passionate about his job you really start to listen. More companies have a tourlike this but they don' have Jason! Thanks for an amazing day. Greatings from Hans & JoyceWritten October 3, 2024

- Nomad473800745940 contributionsHorrible ExperienceOh my, where to begin. I’ve taken hop on/hop off bus tours all over the world and this one was the worst! Late buses which leave you waiting at bus stops longer than necessary, absolutely terrible sound system which sounds like mumbling information about the sights you are seeing, unclean and old buses. Vancouver is a city that you can walk nearly everywhere. I would avoid this tour at all costs. If you want or need to see different parts of the city, just walk, bike, or take an Uber. Better yet, hire a personal tour guide as you’ll get a better bang for your buck!Written October 2, 2024
- johnhN2562HU0 contributionsGood way to see the main areas of Downtown VancouverWhat a great way to see the main areas of the city, the HOHO bus was perfect for our last day in Vancouver. The driver commentary was excellent and we were fortunate to get a double decker twice on the trip so we had a higher level view of the architecture and scenery. We hoped off at Canada Place and Stanley Park for coffee and manged to get the first bus that arrived. As it was the Sunday of a holiday weekend we thought it might be busy but it was ok for us.Written October 2, 2024
- richardlS3683ET0 contributionsVery fun day outA ride up Grouse Mountain via the Gondola where there are many compliment activities to do before coming back down and going through the Capilano Suspension Bridge park. The rides up and down were so cramped I could barely move, let alone take pictures (though we did go on a Holiday). But the many things to do up the mountain like the lumberjack show and seeing the grizzle bears was worth it, as long as you kept the time in mind - there were ski lifts to go up even higher to the peak of the mountain, but they're quite slow and can take 15 minutes each way. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was more of a theme park than a nature reserve with how well maintained the paths were and how decorated it was - I went right as Halloween season started and there were skeletons and pumpkins everywhere! No shortage of things to do with high canopy walks and live birds at the Raptor Retreat. Last stop was an exciting surprise at a Salmonid Hatchery. Learning about how weird salmon are and seeing them go up the fish ladders was exciting. Our guide Jack had been super knowledgeable and helpful, even leading some of our groups around personally on the self-guided portions.Written October 1, 2024

Appalling company. We had a day trip to Victoria and Butchart Gardens which got cancelled half way through the day as the bus broke down. We got stuck at the ferry port as the bus wouldn't start up again. Although these things can't be helped, the company took so long to take action it took hours for replacement buses to be provided that the tour had to be abandoned and the guests returned to their hotels. So we lost our first day in Vancouver, having only seen the inside of a bus and a ferry port. During the time we were stuck, the communication from our driver was non-existent and the organisation from the company was very poor.
The next day, we tried to do the hop on hop off bus, which is owned by the same company. There were huge queues for the buses at each stop and very long wait times to get on the buses, because they only had 6 in operation for the whole city! After waiting 45 minutes for each bus to come, and failing to get on two buses because they were already full, we cancelled our tickets and decided to walk instead.

BE VERY CAREFUL ! This tour was booked and paid for in ERROR ! This is a 13 hr tour that we were not able to do. Within 10 minutes our Concierge was on the phone canceling this tour and arranging for the correct tour.
However "Richard" at Gray Line said we had to cancel within 24 hours or there was a 50% cancellation fee! Can you imagine ? A simple but very costly mistake for 10 minutes !.
We didn't take this tour. Originally we wanted to take the Hop On Hop Off Tour. We did book that tour as it was the only way to get part of our money back. Had that not been the case I would no longer have done business with company.

An excellent trip.
We were picked up early in Vancouver to drive 45 mins to the ferry terminal.
The ferry was then around 90 mins to Vancouver Island and was unexpectedly good thanks to the ferry navigating through beautiful and very scenic islands at the US & Canada border in the sea which we very much enjoyed and the return trip was also good as the sun was starting to set as a backdrop.
We then had a shortish drive to Butchart Gardens which are beautiful - so many things to see in the various themed areas of the gardens.
After that the bus took us to Victoria as the main location on the island (Island is huge e.g 300 x 60kms) and we got to spend a leisurely couple of hours walking around the central area including Chinatown.
It is a full day trip of around 12 hours or so. Our driver and guide in one was Alex MacDougall and he was absolutely excellent throughout the whole day - so informative; so knowledgeable and so engaging throughout - many thanks Alex.
Would certainly recommend this trip if visiting Vancouver

The Butchart gardens are unbelievable and not to be missed. In order to see them, however, you have to get to them and if you are in Vancouver that requires travel to Victoria and a ferry ride taking several hours. Our guide/bus driver Henry was very entertaining telling us about Vancouver and the history of Vancouver as he drove and his stories were interesting especially as he is a native but we did not get the amount of information that I was hoping for. That being said it was a large bus and we were sitting at the back and people near him may have gotten a lot of information that we missed. We were picked up around 10 after nine at our hotel and we didn’t get to the gardens until about 1 o’clock. We only had an hour and a half at the gardens and we certainly could’ve used more. We then went to the city of Victoria which was very nice, but once again we didn’t get a significant amount of information about the city, rather we were free to walk around for about two hours and then back on the bus for another four hours travel by bus and ferry back to our hotel. I am still very happy that we did this trip and and again reiterate that the gardens should not be missed. You should just be aware, however, that it is a lot of traveling and as far as food you are on your own within the constraints of the tour and timing. We finally got back to our hotel at 9:30 having had to cancel our dinner reservations that I had made several weeks earlier as I did not appreciate just how long the day would be.

Thanks for an amazing day ! Bobby was awesome, the trip went smoothly. He gave us lots of great tips to enjoy the day , and great Dads jokes - the ferry trip was beautiful , the Butchart Gardens were spectacular , and we enjoyed a lovely waterfront lunch and wander around the beautiful buildings in Victoria . Bobbys special attention to detail and time allocation were sensational, would highly recommend this tour .

Everything was organised perfectly and Jessica was a wonderful tourguide. You could feel that she loves her job and she provided so much interesting information. The bus was very confortable and the ferry provided nice views. 2 hours was fine to see the Butchart Gardens. In Victoria (where you have also 2 hours) I recommend taking a free and short parliament tour, since it is right next to where the bus stops and is a building worth seeing.

I booked this tour because I didn't want to deal with the transportation myself from Vancouver to Vancouver Island and it was the best decision! I would have stressed myself out trying to get to all these locations myself.
The Butchart Gardens were spectacular. I took the entire 2 hours to admire every part of the garden, which left me wishing for a little more time to see the gift shop and The Dinning Room for some afternoon tea.
We also got another 2 hours to explore downtown Victoria in which there were multiple activities you could do like the Royal B.C. Museum, take a horse-drawn carriage stroll through the city, or a boat ride to the Fisherman's Wharf. I opted to just walk around and explore all the shops.
The reason why this experience wasn't overall excellent was because two tiny toddlers in the group were screaming and crying the entire bus ride, which made it impossible to hear the Guide speaking about the history of the Butchart Gardens and Victoria. I was very upset that I missed the entire story because all I could hear was the children and the lack of discipline from the parents. I could clearly see the irritation of everyone else in the group as well.
Full-day exploration activities like this should not allow children under a certain age to participate. They are just not toddler friendly.

The whole trip took 12 hours, which is a long day, however, it was well worth it. We thoroughly enjoyable every part of the journey and visit and the bus driver and tour guide in one Alex was excellent and really added to the whole experience. Alex talks to you for most of the time on the bus and is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and gives great tips on how to get the best out of the whole day. Would thoroughly recommend this tour that breaks down into ‘bite size’ chunks, which makes the time go quicker - bus to ferry terminal; grab a coffee; ferry across; bus to Butchart Gardens; walk round gardens; bus to Victoria; walk round Victoria then back to the ferry and Vancouver. The day flows nicely.

The trip had just the right amount of sight seeing, relaxation, information and entertainment by our tour guide Alex Mac Dougall. Loved the ferry ride! Victoria was lovely and Boutchard gardens were unlike anything I’ve ever seen- do impressive. The gardens were like beautiful paintings made with flowers/ my favorite was the Sunken Garden, as recommended by our tour guide Alex MacDougall. Alex is no doubt one if the best in the business. A Canadian history major and longtime BC resident, he was able to tell us about the history of everything we could see, and made very good suggestions on how to spend our free time in Victoria. That man should give every Victoria tour! Really glad I took the tour and I highly recommend it.

A party of 8 --- had such a wonderful time from Vancouver to Victoria. Our bus driver, Ed MacAulay, was very knowledgeable of facts/history/interesting tidbits of the entire area. The ride was pleasant, and so was the ferry going back and forth. Ed was wonderful in that one of the passengers forgot his jacket and glasses on the morning ferry, and Ed worked very hard to coordinate the return of the items on the evening ferry. It was no easy feat in that he had to make several phone calls back and forth to the ferry employees, who also did their best to ensure the return of the items. We really appreciate his going the extra mile for us. We give this company and Ed an excellent recommendation. He and the company made our stay in Vancouver a wonderful one. Thank you Ed!!!!

Dear Sir or Madam,
Our cruise ship arrives around 7:00 a.m. 14/09/2024 at the terminal at Canada Place. Can we be picked up from the terminal? If so, what time is the pick-up from this location? Can we leave our luggage on the bus as we won't be checking into our hotel in Vancouver until we return from this day trip. Your prompt response will be very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Shu-Yi & Mark

We are visiting from the UK and looking at taking a tour from Vancouver to Butchart Gardens etc. in June of this year. Could I ask how long the tour lasted and what time you ended back at your hotel. Its just that we are heading off on a cruise to Alaska the day after we are looking to do the tour and as we are in our 60's want to pace ourselves.
Many thanks

The Vancouver/Vancouver trip took about 12 ours, a fair bit of time on the bus and the ferry. The gardens need at least three hours, we got 2 and a half hours on our tour. The gardens are not like any gardens we have seen in the UK, where we visit 8 or 10 gardens each time we visit. This is very much a carefully curated bedding garden on a very large scale. Much planning of colour combinations and layout. Requires a huge workforce to maintain. Not an herbacious border to be seen! Well worth a visit.

Hi, is it possible to meet the group at Tsawassan Ferry Terminal instead of Canada Place as I am staying closer to the terminal?
Written July 20, 2022
I’m not sure how the logistics would work as the terminal is a multi-lane queuing facility for vehicles. Passengers on foot can board ferries directly, though, so it might technically be possible to hook up with the bus driver on board. It would be worth contacting the tour operator to check.
